Anna’s POV

The car rolled to a stop in front of the opulent mansion. Sandra was quiet beside me, her sharp gaze staring out the window. I knew her silence too well—it meant she was planning, plotting every detail in her head. When Sandra got like this, not even an earthquake could shake her mind off of her plans. Sandra was strong and almost manipulative.

We stepped into the house. The familiar scent of roses filled the air. Sandra walked straight to the living room, dropped her bag on the couch, and turned to me.

“Sit,” her word to me sounded more like a command than just a word.

I obeyed without double minds, sinking into the sofa. She crossed her arms.

“Now, Anna, tell me everything. Word for word. Don’t leave anything out.”

I exhaled slowly. “He followed me. I went out for a small walk to shake off things that's been disturbing my head. Out of nowhere, Max showed up. He looked rough… not the Max I remember, but the same cold eyes. It felt like he came for something.”

Anna POVThe night wind picked up, whipping a strand of hair across my face. I didn’t brush it away. I stood close to him. My head filled with different thoughts. Max reappearance into my life. I hated him. Seeing him just makes my skin crawl in disgust.“Time?” I finally said, my voice barely above a whisper, yet it cut through the night air, sharp and firece. “You think time is what this is about? And now you show up on my birthday, at three in the morning, with a pendant and a box and you talk about time?” I just scoffed at his own words. He didn’t flinch. He just watched me, those familiar eyes. He looked older. And one thing kept me In the blues. Few days ago he almost took advantage of me and now, we both are stuck on the rooftop and talking about life.“I know it’s not enough,” he said, his voice low and gentle. It was same voice that had once promised me the heavens and earth and it same voice that also betrayed me. “I’m not asking for forgiveness, Anna. I’m just… delivering

Anna’s POVIt was exactly 3 a.m. I glanced at the clock as my head spun. A wave of pain mixed with fear hit me hard.“Arrgh!” I groaned.I staggered to the bathroom door and pushed it open.“Anna!” Someone shouted my name from outside the room. I rushed out quickly. My heart raced with fear, but I took a deep breath—slow and steady. It was Sandra, standing there with a box in her hands. My name was written on it, along with the words: Happy Birthday. My heartbeat slowed a little. Oh right—it was my birthday today. I’d been so lost in thoughts of revenge, I completely forgot.A soft smile formed on my face as tears stung the corners of my eyes.“Who sent it?” I asked, my voice full of emotion.“I don’t know,” she replied. But something about her face changed. The smile she usually wore was gone. For a moment, she looked... distant, maybe even sad.My thoughts started racing. Who could have sent this gift? And at this hour? The silence stretched between us until I finally said, “I f

Anna’s POVThe airport was fully crowded, full of people dragging bags, hugging their loved ones, and saying goodbyes. I stood near the arrival gate, tapping my foot nervously, waiting for Sandra. My heart was beating fast, not just because I was happy to see her again, but because I had something heavy to tell her.I had to tell her about Max.The man I wished I’d never seen again. When Sandra finally walked out, my whole body felt relaxed. She looked as graceful as ever, dressed in a sleek black dress with her sunglasses covering her eyes. Her presence was powerful, even after a long flight. She carried herself like a queen, and in truth, she was one—the queen of her own empire.I rushed forward and hugged her tightly.“Finally,” I whispered. “You’re here.”Sandra hugged me back but then pulled away, scanning my face.“You look… off,” she said slowly. “What happened, Anna? I know you. Something is wrong.”I forced a smile, but my lips trembled.“Let’s get in the car first,” I said.

(A year later)Anna POVThe city lights outside the office window glowed like the night stars, but my mind was not there. Sandra and I had built something huge—bigger than what we both have once imagined and thought of. Our fashion world was no longer small, no longer fragile. It was powerful, alive, and people spoke our names in every corner of the industry. But that night, Sandra was away in Paris for a show, and I was alone.I decided to take a short walk down this town. I wanted fresh air, to clear my head. My driver followed behind at a distance, but I asked him not to stay to close. That’s when it happened.A shadow stepped out from the corner of the street. Eye glinting.“Anna,” a deep voice called.I froze. My heart raced because I knew the voice. It was Max.It been ages since I have been set my eyes on him. Him coming to me now felt strange and almost breathing taking.“Max,” I whispered, standing tall even though my stomach twisted and churned. “What are you doing here?”He

Anna POVThe city lights were moving behind us as Sandra drove the black car down the wide highway. My head rested on the cold window, but my mind was not resting. Too many things had happened in such little time. Too much blood. Too many lies. And now we were leaving the city behind like it never happened.Hae-Jae had waved at us earlier when we were leaving his mansion. I still saw his tall figure in my mind, standing there quietly, his face calm but his eyes carrying many secrets. He said he wanted to retire back to his normal life, but I knew better. Men like him never lived normal lives. But it didn’t matter anymore. I had used him for what I wanted, and now the road was mine again.Sandra broke the silence between we both.“Do you feel bad, Anna?” she asked, her hands tight on the steering wheel. “Leaving all this behind? Leaving Hae-Jae?”I turned my head slowly. “Bad? No. Why should I feel bad? I got what I came for.”Sandra’s eyes narrowed. “You mean Isabella’s death.”I gave
