Anna’s POV

The next morning, the office felt too bright, too loud, too alive. Every sound—the ringing phones, the clicking heels, even the hum of the elevator—buzzed through me like static. I was restless, and I knew why.

Because of him.

I tried drowning myself in contracts, emails, anything. But it didn’t work. My thoughts kept circling back to Hae-Jae, to his words from last night: If all of it burned tomorrow, I’d still choose this. You. Every time.

Damn him.

By noon, Sandra barged into my office carrying a stack of folders. “You look like hell,” she said bluntly.

“Good morning to you too,” I muttered.

“Don’t good morning me,” she snapped. “You’ve got dark circles, your coffee’s cold, and you’re pacing like a caged wolf. What’s going on?”

“Nothing.”

“Liar.” She narrowed her eyes. “Is this about Hae-Jae?”

My head snapped up. “What?”

“Oh, don’t act shocked. I’ve got eyes. And ears. Half the staff is whispering about how he never leaves your side. The other half is wondering if they s

Anna pov(2 Weeks later) "I hope this day goes well"I said, looking at my reflection on the mirror.I wore one of the best I have in my gallery, a blue satin gown filled with pure diamond stones. My hair packed in a bun, my earring dazzling under the dark light, my heels clicking hard against the tile floor. The makeup on my face made me look three times beautiful than I originally am. I look so dazzling, if I could say that to myself. I knew I was a true definition of beauty, just that pain wanted to snatch that away from me in the end. But now everything is over, I'm now a girl with the best life I could ever wish for.I picked up my silver bag that matches exactly with my shoes and my earring. I picked up my phone immediately and walked out of the room. Hae-Jae was in the sitting room waiting for me with his well-tailored suit. He wasn't a judge but he was acting as my plus one and my backbone plus maybe manager there.“You look more beautiful than I've ever seen you before." His

Anna’s POVThe boardroom was too quiet. Too polished, too rehearsed, as if the walls themselves were waiting for me to speak.Sandra sat on my right, flipping through her notes like daggers. On my left, Hae-Jae leaned back casually, though his eyes flicked over every detail like a strategist mapping a battlefield.Across the table, the last remaining directors of the company stared at me—half defiant, half terrified. They’d watched me climb from the ashes of humiliation to the throne they’d once mocked me for wanting. This was the final test.I cleared my throat. “Let’s not waste time. We all know why we’re here.”Director Min adjusted his glasses nervously. “Anna, these are extraordinary circumstances. With Kwon exposed and Max missing—”“Missing?” I cut in sharply. “He’s not missing. He’s running. And you all know why.”A murmur went through the table.Sandra smirked. “Face it. The empire you built on lies collapsed overnight, and Anna made sure of it.”“Careful,” Director Shin mutt

Anna’s POVThe office was a battlefield that morning. Phones rang off the hook, reporters hovered like vultures, and whispers about Max’s fall swept through the building like wildfire. I buried myself in contracts, pretending I couldn’t hear the gossip that carried my name in it.The door banged open. Sandra didn’t bother with knocking, as usual.“Morning,” she announced, dropping a pile of papers onto my desk. “Correction—messy morning. Half the staff is panicking about the press, the other half is gossiping about you.”I lifted my eyes slowly. “Me?”“Yes, you.” Her smirk widened. “You and lover boy.”Heat crept up my neck. “Sandra—”“Relax,” she cut in, holding up her hands. “I don’t care who you kiss. But if you’re going to make it official, at least tell me first so I can start a betting pool.”I groaned, pressing my pen against the paper too hard. “You’re impossible.”“No,” she said sweetly, “just honest.” She tilted her head, watching me carefully. “So? Is it real, or am I wasti

Anna’s POVThe office was quiet the next morning. Too quiet. My heels clicked against the marble as I stepped into the executive wing, my new title practically stitched into every look I received from the staff. Some greeted me with “Good morning, Ms. Storm,” while others whispered as if I’d grown a second head.Hae-Jae was already inside my office, leaning against my desk like he owned it. He was sipping coffee from a cup that wasn’t from our usual machine.“You’re in my chair,” I said, dropping my bag on the credenza. He smirked. “Technically, you’re in my chair. I sat down first.”“That’s not how ownership works,” I replied, pulling out the spare chair beside him.He held out his cup toward me. “Want to try it? Best coffee in the building. Way better than the sludge you force yourself to drink.”I arched a brow. “I’m not drinking your coffee.”“Why? Afraid you’ll like it?”“No,” I said, snatching the cup anyway. “I just don’t trust you not to poison me with extra sugar.”He laughed
