Horrible Taste Of Betrayal

Year 2023, an unknown prison

In a dark cell, the sound of nail scraping on a wall echoed throughout it. It continued for a minute before it suddenly stopped.

Inside it, a haggard figure dropped her shaky hands on the floor. Her unkempt hair was scattered all over her face. Almost immediately, the loud voice of the prison warder echoed throughout the corridor.

"There's a visitor for you, Andrea Accardo!"

Andrea was so exhausted that she couldn't sit up, but her teeth grit in anger when she saw the shiny red shoe and the luxury handbags which dangled from the lady's hand.

The lady walked towards Andrea and turned her over with one feet. She was quite satisfied by the wretched sight of Andrea; The once beautiful woman who had turned heads literally everywhere she went, now looked hideous. She looked like an AIDs sufferer thanks to her lack of flesh.

"Andrea, that's not how you welcome your big sister." This lady was none other than Andrea's stepsister, Valerie Griffin, and she is the reason why Andrea ended up in prison. Valerie pretended to be displeased and poked Andrea a few times with her leg.

"Where are my fiancé and daughter?" Andrea tried to say, but her voice came out croaky. It had been a long time since she last said a word and her voice seemed to forget what it was supposed to sound like.

"I'm sorry, I can't hear you." Valerie scoffed and bent towards Andrea a little, "What did you say?"

"What have you done, Valerie?" Andrea asked more loudly.

"Oh, that's what you said?" Valerie blinked her eyes innocently and straightened back again, "I helped you clean up your mess, sister. I buried the bodies you left to rot."

Tears cascaded down Andrea's cheeks as she recalled her life a couple of years back.

Andrea had lived with her mother until she was 4 years old. She still remembered the day when the police broke in and took her mother into jail, telling her that she had killed someone. That was when Andrea met her long lost father, a man she barely knew. But she never expected her father to be married to another woman, and they had already built up a family.

Her stepmother and stepsister had bullied her in secret for a long while. But she had never blamed them and took a lot of work to get them to accept her. One day they finally showed her some kindness and she was fooled so quickly thinking that she finally became part of the family.

They were so good at acting that they even fooled her to believe that her father was the one to blame for her mother’s imprisonment.

Thinking of that, Andrea looked up at Valerie angrily.

Her anger amused Valerie that she revealed an evil smile, "You, sister, you've been really helpful to my family and I. And we are really grateful for that."

"What did you do to them?" Andrea asked again.

This time, it warranted a sigh from Valerie.

"Father died of poisoning. Sadly, murdered by you who have been feeding him with this herbal drink you said was good for the heart but actually, you laced it with poison." Valerie began but was interrupted by Andrea.

"Your mother added poison to the herbal drink." Andrea gripped her leg.

Valerie stopped and glanced down at Andrea. Then she kicked Andrea's chest and shook her hands off.

"But you have no proof." Valerie smirked, her eyes darkening in amusement. "Nobody will know that my mother paid a maid to do it. You will be the sinner that everyone knows for sure!"

"And yet you let the court sentence the maid to death by hanging. How cruel are you?" Andrea asked weakly from the floor.

"You're weak, Andrea and you make everyone around you weak as well. Take your fiancé for an example. Ryker Darius was every lady's dream man. Even some men wanted him as well." Valerie's eyes sparked with envy but then she became viscously pleased again, "But his life ended as well. All because he chose to be on your side."

Andrea sighed and closed her eyes. Her thought drifted back to her adorable daughter. Anna was a sweet child. One that would make any parent smile just because she smiled. But Anna died because her mother trusted the wrong people. The thought of that haunted Andrea ever since she got thrown into prison.

Her thoughts also drifted back to her time with Ryker Darius. She fought with him most of the time and had been too naive to see that after her father, Ryker was the second person who wanted her to be happy even If it would cost him. But she had gotten him killed just because she listened to the wrong people.

Then her father who had been murdered by the Griffins and finally, her mother who had been killed in prison by Georgina Griffin.

Andrea opened her eyes to look at Valerie. The Griffins won because she had trusted them with a life. Not only did she dislike her father and fiancé, she also made sure to inform them of whatever they needed to know about their businesses.

Andrea finally accepted defeat. Everyone close to her all died because she chose to be lousy with the way she lived her life.

What caused her heart to ache even more was that the last moments she had with each and everyone of them wasn't the best.

She recalled shouting at her daughter the last time they met face-to-face, fighting with her father, her fiancé and finally her mother who had died in jail.

"You've been missing for one hundred days. And you'll continue to be a missing person. After all, you no longer have anything to live for." Valerie chuckled and reached for the gun in her thigh.

However, before she could remove the gun from the safety lock, Andrea suddenly got up and hit her ankle. The gun fell and so did Valerie.

Valerie's eyes flashed when she saw Andrea reach for the gun and she swung her foot towards the lady's abdomen which sent Andrea recurling into a ball as she whimpered in pain.

She hadn't eaten for days and her body had weakened which raised the pain coursing through her body.

Valerie immediately reached for the gun and removed it from the safety lock.

"Look at you suddenly putting up a hard fight now that you're dying. I think it's sweet but it's unfortunate I'm the one with the gun."

Andrea slowly crawled to the wall and rested on it. Then she glanced up at Valerie with a vicious look in her eyes.

"You and your family will forever be hunted by those you had brutally murdered and I hope that I hunt you even in death or in the after life."

"Silly Andrea. There's no such thing as those. But even if they were, good luck with that." Andrea chuckled and pulled her gun's trigger.
