Chapter 2

Author: Barky Biscuit
In my previous life, when my wolf awakened, it was a beautiful, well-built white wolf with snow-white fur. Now, I had turned into a filthy, frail grey wolf with patchy hair.

Lina finished her transformation in a flash of blinding silver light.

A massive white wolf stood proudly before me. She was twice the size of a normal wolf, her muscles bulging with power, and every strand of white fur radiated overwhelming authority.

Xavier was utterly amazed by Lina's wolf, but when he looked at me, all that remained was deep disappointment.

The white wolf Lina had shifted into let out a howl and suddenly lunged at me. The sheer force knocked me onto the ground instantly. She extended her heavy paw, tipped with sharp claws, and stomped down on my stomach.

At that moment, I felt as if my ribs were about to snap under her weight.

The power that used to be mine was now crushing me without mercy. She was toying with me, using my own strength to crush my pride.

"Lina, stop it!" Xavier shouted.

Lina shifted back into her human form, her bare shoulders trembling slightly. The terrified expression on her face was perfect as she huddled into Xavier's arms, eyes brimming with tears.

"Ella, I'm sorry. I truly didn't mean it," she said. "This power is too strong. It was racing wildly through my body. I even lost consciousness, and my limbs wouldn't obey me at all."

Xavier immediately took off his coat and wrapped it around her, his heart aching. He held her shoulders, comforting her. "Don't rush. Your wolf has just awakened. Take it slow. I'm right here."

He didn't even spare me a glance as I lay slumped on the ground, too weak to stand. It felt as if it were only natural for me, once a powerhouse, to be stripped of everything and left groveling in the dirt.

Xavier shielded Lina in his arms and looked at me with a deep frown. "Ella, don't look at Lina like that. She had no choice.

"Now that your wolf is inside her, you have to teach her how to control this power. Don't let her show any weakness in front of Ryan Miller."

Xavier's entitled, demanding tone made my blood run cold.

Seeing that I refused to give in, a vicious glint flashed in Lina's eyes as she unleashed an oppressive force toward me.

The wolf inside me screamed, urging me to submit. I bit my lip hard, using the pain to resist the humiliating urge to obey.

I would never yield to her.

Lina seemed amused and increased the pressure. "Ella, why won't you obey me? My wolf is stronger than yours now. You should show me some respect."

Xavier finally sensed that something was wrong and called out for her to stop. "Lina!"

Lina pouted in grievance and withdrew the oppressive pressure. "I just wanted Ella to help me get used to it," she muttered.

Xavier sighed, his voice softening. "I know. But Ella just switched wolves with you, so she's weak too. Try to feel it out on your own first. I'll go check on her."

He walked toward me and reached out to help me up. I slapped his hand away and pushed myself off the ground.

My voice was as cold as ice. "I'm fine."

Xavier's hand froze midair, a hint of awkwardness crossing his face. "Ella, stop being difficult. I know you feel wronged, but this is for Lina and for our future. I'll make it up to you once this is all over."

I looked at the face I had loved for two lifetimes and found it utterly unfamiliar.

Our future?

Our future had already been destroyed the moment he turned me into that lowly little grey wolf with his own hands.

He had once been a high-spirited, formidable Alpha, but now he looked frail and gaunt. He kneeled outside the Silvermoon pack's borders, not daring to step any closer. He watched me from a distance, his eyes brimming with desperate pleading. His voice was raspy, barely audible. "Ella… I-I just wanted to see you one last time."I stood beside Ryan and looked at him calmly.Ryan held my hand and whispered, "Do you want me to drive him away?"I shook my head. Then, I took a few steps toward Xavier and stopped at a safe distance. "Have you seen enough?" His body trembled as he looked up, his eyes once radiant but now dull and murky. "Ella… a-are you doing well?""I'm fine," I replied. "Better than ever."Seeing my exquisite garments and the unmistakable happiness in my expression, the light in his eyes slowly faded. He shut his eyes in agony as murky tears ran down his filthy cheeks. He began rambling apolog

The festival continued. When the pack Elder placed the moonlit wreath that symbolized the status of Luna upon my head, the wolf within me let out a joyful howl. It had finally found its true home. That night, Ryan took me to the Silvermoon pack's sacred grounds, where a massive ancient tree radiated a silvery glow."This is the thousand-year-old tree of the Silvermoon pack," he explained. "It is said to possess the power to communicate with the spirits of our ancestors."He led me beneath the tree, his expression more solemn than I had ever seen. "Ella, after what happened earlier today, I need to be honest with you."His crimson eyes reflected the vast, starry sky along with my own reflection. "In the previous life, after I executed Lina, I asked the Moon Goddess to guide me to my true mate. Then, I saw you."I watched you as Xavier's Luna, fighting and sacrificing everything for him, yet you never earned his full trust or respect. I saw that a place in his heart was always rese

It was a vital ceremony that acknowledged my status as Luna.Just then, a familiar Alpha scent, laced with madness and despair, shattered the celebration's peace.Xavier broke into the Silvermoon pack's territory. He was a disheveled mess with bloodshot eyes, looking like a cornered beast with nowhere to run.He roared my name, his eyes locked onto my hand clasped in Ryan's. "Ella, come back with me! You can only be my Luna!"The Silvermoon pack warriors immediately surrounded him. Their claws extended, growls rumbling threateningly from their throats.Ryan shielded me, his broad frame firm and unyielding. His golden wolf eyes burned with violence, and his voice carried a chill that cut through the air. "Xavier, leave my territory."But Xavier acted as if he hadn't heard him, his cr

He simply showed me through his actions that I was cherished.Meanwhile, the Shadowveil pack fell into unprecedented chaos. This news was delivered by patrol warriors from the Silvermoon pack. After I left, Xavier rushed into the witch's cabin like a madman, demanding an antidote. The witch's raspy voice dripped with mockery. "An antidote? Alpha Xavier, what nonsense are you talking about?"There is no undoing a forbidden potion that defies the Moon Goddess' will. You stripped Ella's wolf away with your own hands, and now you want it back?"That's Ella's wolf, the most powerful in this forest! Do you really think someone as lowly as Lina could contain such power?"Xavier froze in shock. He gripped the witch's shoulders, his eyes burning red. "That's impossible!

He roared and lunged toward me, trying to pull me away from Ryan."Ella, how dare you!" he yelled. "You can't go with him! I'm your Alpha! I'm your fated mate!"He seemed to have forgotten all the cruel things he had done to push me away.I looked at Xavier, my eyes calm and devoid of emotion.I used to believe we were destined lovers, but he destroyed that bond with his own hands. Now, I was no longer the Ella who waited desperately for him to grant me a scrap of pity.I spoke, my voice hoarse but every word clear. On the morning of the fifth day of my confinement, I suddenly felt my dormant wolf begin to howl with excitement in my mind.I knew that Ryan had arrived. He had come to find his fated mate chosen by the Moon Goddess."Ryan, welcome to the Shadowveil pack. All our unmated she-wolves who have come of age are waiting here," Xavier said.As a pure-blood Alpha, Ryan stood tall. He was terrifyingly strong, just like the Silvermoon pack he led.Lina clutched Xavier's sleeve nervously, her body trembling slightly. Xavier patted her hand to comfort her.Ryan scanned the she-wolves before him, his gaze cold and indifferent. His eyes paused on Lina briefly, but they showed no emotion. He turned back to Xavier, his voice colder than ever. "Xavier, are you trying to deceive the Moon Goddess' guidance?"Cold sweat drenched Xavier's forehead as he waved his hand desperately. "Of course not! I have no such intention!"Ryan narrowed his crimson eyes, a dangerous glint flashing within them. "Bu
