The hospital room was dimly lit with only a faint hum of machines and drips breaking the silence. Jane had broken down again and her current mental condition requires she stays in the hospital for the meantime. I sat beside her bed, staring blankly at her pale face. I never knew she had IED until now and that fueled my anger the more.

I felt my jaw clenched at the mere sight of her as she lay before me, a stranger in all but name.

My mind wandered back to the day it all unraveled. The day she had killed Hailey, leaving me unconscious purposely on the crime scene. The day my life turned upside down. I remembered the pain, the confusion, the feeling of being lost and alone if not for my friends advices and help. But most of all, I remembered the shock of discovering that she had been the one behind the crime, not some unknown assailant.
