We need to stop this wedding

/Valeri’s POV/

“Okay...” Vee finally speaks up.

“I am extremely lost without any idea of what is going on here, so can you please make all these make sense without being so weird?” My best friend asks in a voice that tells me that she is at the edge of losing her sanity.

“It is a long story,” I dismiss.

“And I have nothing but time to listen to your story however long it may be so can you start?” Vee answers.

“The thing is that I think I kinda went back in time to what my life was a year ago,” I inform Vee and she strangely looks at me before she bursts out laughing.

“You are pulling my legs, right?” Vee chuckles but I shake my head.

“Just so you know, your strategy at making that joke didn’t sound as nice as it must have sounded in your head when you came up with it, so try harder next time,” Vee says patting my back.

“This is not any form of joke, it is real,” I say trying to dismiss Vee's remark but it doesn’t look like she is not going to understand my plight.

“You know what?” I sigh in defeat.

“If I were the one in your place, I would also think that I have gone mad, but trust me when I say that I have gone back in time, I have been married to Grey Remington before,” a part of me tries to explain, hoping that she will understand.

“I have lived this life before and trust me when I say that my life a year ago cost me my life,” I explain, hoping that she can at least put two and two together to make what I am saying make sense because my thoughts are just over the place.

It is so difficult to have to explain what is going on with me in words when I am still trying to wrap my head around what is going on.

“So, if I can understand what you are saying very well,” Vee starts, and I listen calmly hoping that she understood what I was trying to explain.

“You have seen everything that is happening right now before…” she starts and I nod in approval.

“You lived this life before, you then died probably because of your selflessness and then the heavens decided to reward you for all the good that you have done, so you came back with superpowers?” She says suddenly looking interested and I sigh in disappointment because she is getting this all wrong.

“I have always wished to have superpowers in my next life, but God gave my friend superpowers instead of me…” Vee starts to ramble and I watch the exchange going on in front of me with a horrified look.

“God!” Vivian starts to scream and that completely takes me aback.

“You are playing games,” she continues to yell.

“You’re picking favorites,” she laments while I try to process what is going on in front of me.

I know that drama is embedded in my best friend like an extra chromosome, but this was not the reaction I was hoping to get from her at all.

“Hello?” I call out, snapping my fingers in front of her because she seems to be lost in her world of lamentations.

“Can you allow me to have this moment to myself before we talk about your superpowers and how we are either going to make money with it or wreak havoc with it,” Vee says momentarily stopping her drama.

“That is the point...” I sigh.

“I don’t think I have any superpower….I woke up feeling normal,” I try to explain.

“So, what is the essence of you traveling back in time?” She asks with disappointment evident in her voice.

“I am also trying to find out,” I answer her honestly.

“…Or maybe you do have a superpower, but this is like one of those paranormal stories that you need to search with yourself to be able to discover your potential,” Vivian says in a serious voice and now, it is my turn to look at her like she has completely gone mad because this conversation is not going in the direction I envisaged it to go at all.

“I am 100% convinced that I have no supper power,” I answer her with unwavering confidence.

“In that case, are you sure that what you saw is not just a nightmare? Because how can you be so sure that you have lived this life before?” Vee asks with her voice suddenly becoming serious and I silently thank the heavens for making her receptive to what I have to say.

“In my past life, I got into an arranged marriage with Grey Remington because of my parent’s business,” I start to explain.

“Here, I thought Grey Remington proposed the marriage because of what both he and my parents had to offer each other concerning their business, but what I didn’t know was that he did it to crumple my parent's business,” I explain better in such a way that Vee won’t get confused.

“What has your family ever done to him that he to want revenge?” She inquires and I shake my head because I have no idea.

“I died before I could find out the truth but what I know is that Grey Remington is already married and he and his legal wife used me as a bargaining chip to be able to get close to my family, destroy my father’s business and at the end Grey Remington’s legal wife even got me killed,” I answer.

“Wait a minute,” Vivian dramatically pauses, standing up from the bed.

“All these doesn’t make any sense,” she says going back to square one again.

“I know that it doesn’t make any sense, but I experienced it so I am trying to make all these make sense to you,” I answer her.

“That was not what I meant,” she dismisses as she stops acting like the pacing weirdo that she has been acting like since she got up from the bed.

“My point is that how did you get cheated and bullied with me in your life,” she inquires puzzled and her extremely serious expression makes me burst out laughing.

“You must think so highly of yourself,” I chuckle.

“That is not the point here,” Vivian dismisses seriously.

“My point is that even if you get fooled, it is not easy to get me fooled because I am always suspicious of people,” Vivian points out.

“I know right, if I were your family doctor, I would have diagnosed you with a serious case of trust issue,” I remark with a smile.

“Will you keep quiet and allow me to figure out how the hell we both got fooled instead of trying to disrupt my thought process,” Vee scolds swatting my head with her palm.

“Instead of trying to figure out what happened in a past life that you have no memories of, why don’t you humbly ask me so that I can shed more light on the issue,” I express proudly, but that earns me a death glare from my best friend.

“Are you going to talk or do you want me to force it out of you?” She threatens.

“The thing is that you were not with me,” I answer her, and her brow creases in confusion as she exclaims a confused

“What!” she exclaims.

“You went to Orion to pave your way as a model, away from the long line of reputable lawyers in your family tree,” I answer her and she draws her lips together in a thin line before scratching the nape of her neck and looking away to avoid eye contact.

“If I am right, you are secretly making preparations to get accepted into a modeling agency at Orion, right?” I throw the question at her and her jaw drops.

“How the hell did you know that?” She gets defensive all of a sudden and I scoff because it is just typical of Vivian to get defensive when she is caught red-handed

“How much more proof do you need to know that I have lived the past one year before?” I ask her starting to get impatient.

“It means there is a huge possibility that this whole-time travel thing came with superpowers,” Vee mumbles and I hiss.

“I sound ridiculous listening to myself say all these things so why will I expect you to believe me so easily,” I sigh in disappointment.

“It is not like that,” Vee says, pulling the tip of my nightwear.

“I may have serious trust issues, but you should know that I trust you with all my heart,” She tries to convince me.

“…all these is just a lot to take in for me right now but that aside, what is the way forward?” She inquires and I stop to think for a while.

“No matter what we have to do, we need to cancel this wedding at any cost,” I tell her.

“Ahhh!” She exclaims almost deafening me from her noise.

“Cancel the wedding?” She inquires to be double sure that I said what I said.

“How are we going to cancel the wedding?” Vivian inquires.

“What are we going to tell your father and your stepmom?” She says with her eyebrows taking a worried curve.

“I am sure you are not thinking of narrating the experience of your past life just like you did to me,” she inquires stopping to scrutinize my expression.

“You know what?” I ask her just to gather my thoughts in one place.

“Just like you, I don’t know what this whole time travel episode is all about, neither do I know if every horrible thing that happened to me in my past life will repeat itself but either way, every injustice that I suffered came up as a result of my wedding to Grey Remington so we need to stop this wedding from happening,” I tell Vivian with finality in my voice.
