City San Zero

Rowan

I stepped out of the blood pooling under my shoes as the dead body is being dragged out.

“Alpha, here.”

I take the napkin from my beta, Elias, cleaning blood off my hands as I watch the city night view from the balcony of my skyscraper.

“That is the last time I’m going to deal with a human pretending to be an Omega to avoid getting their liver from being harvested. I hate these casualties,” My tone is firm with disappointment.

This is the eighth time this month.

“I apologize Alpha, it won’t happen again.”

“It shouldn’t,” I placed a cigarette between my lips, flicking my exclusive made lighter with an orange hue, sucking the smoke with steady lungs, “I won’t stop myself from killing them when I find out and that equals me losing both goods and money.”

“I will look into the evaluation team again, Alpha. I will personally look at the process and report the results back to you. Please calm down and also…. Your father is requesting you for dinner tonight. He also invited your fiancée, Charlotte as well.”

I clenched my jaw, hating how my father, the Alpha King, tries to play family with me when we are far apart from that.

I gestured my two fingers in the air as a signal for him to leave me alone if he was done with his report, taking another drag of my smoke.

“There is something else, it’s about that person, Alpha.”

My heart begins to race involuntarily, something I cannot always control even if I wanted to.

“What about him?”

“He is going to open the Hall of Vintage Collections today and he is launching a new collection of handmade suits and shoes. Also, tonight his grandmother is finally going to name him the next CEO of Emerald Enterprise. I made reservations at their finest seats for you there, Alpha.”

I take the red envelope and pull out the golden tickets.

“You should go and cheer for him, Alpha.”

“As always,” I chuckle sadly, rubbing my thumb over the name Jaylene Nakul in italics. That is exactly what I have been doing for the past twelve years and two months.

Watching my fated mate from afar because of the old ways and the prophecy of the Moon Goddess.

A prophecy which is given to every born of the Moon Valley Pack when they bloom and receive their wolf form from the Moonlight.

Mine wasn’t just a prophecy, it’s a harsh punishment I don’t deserve.

With just a simple one line of sentence in a large scroll.

[Du wirst deinen Partner treffen und du wirst dich ihm nicht nähern, weil du sein Verhängnis bist.

You will meet your mate and you will not go close to him because you are his doom.]

I couldn’t believe my eyes that day and I will never forget how everyone in that council room looked at me with pity.

Tch

And I have been doing just that, staying away from Jaylene.

“Send him a bouquet of pink orchids,” I pressed my unfinished cigarette on the ash tray, “Those are his favorite flowers, he will smile at it,” The corner of my lips curves at the thought of the image.

I was only 13 years old when I realized that Jaylene was my fated mate and he was only 9 years old.

I have been watching him ever since then, through every season, through every single stage of his life.

I know everything about him but… I’m just a stranger he never noticed, not even once.

“Why are you not going there yourself, Alpha? You are always around him, watching him from afar. You are always in the crowd supporting him even if he never notices you, you have saved his life so many times I could count, you always protect him even when he is not watching… Are you still angry that he started dating again?”

I glared at Elias warningly.

He lowers his head and clears his throat, “You are just angry because a few days ago while you were stalking him you saw him kissing his new boyfriend and now…”

“Enough, Elias!”

“I’m sorry, Alpha.”

I let out a deep sigh, shutting my eyes.

Do I deserve to be angry or jealous?

I don’t know, I don’t care.

I walk back into the penthouse living room, taking off my bathrobes, “Send the flowers and a congratulatory card for his new position, make sure to buy off every vintage suit, shirts and shoes he is putting on sale today.”

“As you wish, Alpha.”

Jaylene I thought that he would be happy to hear that I don’t want him to leave. That I want him to stay here in the Penthouse with me. That I want him to continue to hold me, kiss me, ravish me, maybe have sex with me here or something. I was thinking this should be enough to make him happy. So why did he leave? Why did he turn me down?I suck in a deep breath as I feel a burning sensation attack the bite mark on my neck. I thought the pain would leave easily as always, but it doesn’t.It begins to burn even more searingly, like a molten rod is being plunged into my shoulder. “Ahhh,” I let out an agonizing cry as my legs gave out weakly, almost instantly, pushing me to my knees as I collapsed forward.I quickly hold onto the edge of the table to keep my balance, my knuckles white. It is as if the ground was pulling down my weight.I feverishly place my hand on the spot, feeling the wetness in my shirt.Blood.“Omega?” Beta Owen appears by the door with a loud gasp as he hurrie

  • Reborn As A Wolf   Chapter 50: The Perpetrator or The Victim?

RowanI stepped into the empty room with a cigarette between my lips, my hands resting inside my pockets as I took slow predatory steps toward where Lucas was being tied up in a chair, a black bag covered on his face. I take a seat in front of him, a brown table made with exotic wood intervening between us. Elias immediately removes the bag from Lucas' face and steps aside.I watch with a sick interest how Lucas struggles to free himself from the tight ropes immobilizing his body. He strains his muscles and limbs with a deep muffled scream escaping his gagged mouth, his face turning red from the pressure and movement. He looks around frantically, his gaze moving everywhere at once. He struggles against the chair, causing the legs of the chair to scrape loudly against the floor, his heart rate pulsing at a high speed. He says something through the gag but I don’t care to catch it as I light up the cigarette between my lips, my gaze glued on his face like a ghost appearing to haunt h

  • Reborn As A Wolf   Chapter 49: A Distrustful Booster

Rowan“Here?” Elias passes me a stick of my favorite cigarette as I step out of the Penthouse but I don’t take it. I did not want to immediately get rid of the lingering taste of my mate’s lips against my tongue. He kissed me.He did not just kiss me back when I kissed him, he initiated a deep intimate kiss between us. “Alpha, where are you going?”“Charlotte wants to have lunch,” I reply to my beta distractedly, absentmindedly, my fingers hovering over my lips as my thoughts are failing me.“Take me to her favorite restaurant.” “Yes, Alpha”I slipped into the backseat of the car, unable to stop replaying the way Jaylene had leaned forward and arrested my lips in a slow kiss. He wasn’t teasing me. His light green eyes were actually shining with want and need for me. And this time, he was not experiencing his estrous cycle. He was just turned on and melting into my arms.In fact, his pheromones had said it all.He wanted it. He wanted me.He had his fingers curl up in my hair, hold

  • Reborn As A Wolf   Chapter 48: The Faux Acceptance II

Jaylene“Elias, leave us,” Rowan says in a deep tone, holding my gaze in a tight lock.“Yes, Alpha.”I could not break away from his intense gaze, so I let myself drown in the depth of his dark blue eyes.It is as if the room fades into a blur, leaving only the sharp edges of our own emotions to swirl around us, our heart trying to speak into my head, words the mouth could not say.Rowan’s grip tightens around my wrist, his eyes glazing with a longing that sends goosebumps throughout my body, down to the heel of my feet, softening all the resolves within my body.I hate that being close to him, even a little, is like feeding an antidote to the poisonous vines he has planted inside me. It is hibernating, healing. It feels so good, as if drugged. Just being close to him, being wrapped around his spicy scent, just having his fingers on my skin is a great need.I shouldn’t be greedy but I can’t help myself. I let my nose flare up as I inhale his scent hungrily, long and short sniffs, try

  • Reborn As A Wolf   Chapter 47: His Confusing Docility

Rowan“What are you doing on the floor?” I ask him, my eyebrow raised, my tone bearing more cold than warmth. Jaylene’s gaze flickered over me with doubt, his bottom lip drawn between his teeth.“I’m sorry, Alpha,” He quickly pushes himself up on his feet, the chain rattling chaotically behind him, his tone frantic with fear.“I will clean up immediately.”“Don’t move,” I simply tell him, my tone icy and sharp. It leaves no room for arguments as he stood still, his posture rigid, his eyes transfixed on me with uncertainty.I peel my gaze away from him, tilting my head to the side as I take in the alley rats standing restlessly behind him.I didn't utter a single word and nobody dared to move or breathe, causing a thick silence to hang in the air, tension rising.I know too well the power my presence holds but my silence is even more dangerous, daring, terrifying, fear inducing and filled with uncertainty.I sidestep to avoid Jaylene's figure as I walk inside the break room, my stride

  • Reborn As A Wolf   Chapter 46: His Choking Presence

Jaylene ##I was staggering forward, my steps uneven, slow and overly deliberate. The polished concrete floor was tilting under my gaze as I walked. The next thing, I was grabbing onto the door handle of my car. In the next second, I was falling on my knees as I threw up, the bile tasting like alcohol and acid in my throat. My stomach flips painfully, causing me to retch up even more. Even my body spasms violently but I force myself inside the car as I drive out, speeding, everything passing in a blur until a truck is crashing into me and then silence, darkness, and then a sharp voice, with a painfully concerned tone calls out to me.“Jaylene, Jaylene, Jaylene, stay with me.” ##A loud thunder grumbled angrily across the sky as I jerk awake, gasping for air as my heart drummed loudly against my ribs. The same dream again, but this time I’m aware that I was drunk on the day of my accident. I was grieving , I was in agony and hopeless.I could not help but wonder what went wrong w

Jaylene I stir awake as a kiss is being pressed on my forehead. “Good morning, biscuits,” Rowan winks at me as he buttons up his white shirt. It looks like he came out of the shower, not long ago. It was also morning and streams of sunlight were already cascading into the spacious bedroom with

Jaylene “What are you going to do to me?” I peel the words from the back of my throat with every boldness left in me. I don’t want to say the wrong words and get him upset. He has not come here for a few nights and I couldn’t be happier. I do not understand why he would show up tonight with f
