Astrid’s POV

The pain didn’t wake me gently yet again which is something I have started getting used to. This time it. dragged me up from sleep like something had its teeth in my throat and refused to let go.

I didn’t move at first. My body stayed exactly where it was while the sensation spread starting at the mark, then pushing outward in painful waves to my neck and collarbone.

My breath stopped for a minute because this is freaking new.

I swallowed against it, forcing my hand up to my neck.

Davian’s POVSerra didn’t knock and she really never did when it mattered. The door shut behind her with a quiet click and that alone told me everything I needed to know. There was bad news with her. Not that I have received any good news since finding out about Anthony Riftclaw and his blue eyed Luna. I didn’t look up immediately. I finished signing the document in front of me then let the pen rest where it was before I finally met her eyes.“Say it.”Serra crossed the room slowly, her expression set in that calm clinical mask she wore when things were already past saving. I won’t have a better intel than her. “It’s not just the mark.”“I’m listening.” I leaned back slightly.“The degradation is accelerating beyond projection. That part we knew.” She placed a tablet on my desk, sliding it toward me. “But the toxins in her system are interacting with the bond magic.”I didn’t touch the tablet just stared at the words across and the image of a mark that looks awfully like Astrid’s.

This time it. dragged me up from sleep like something had its teeth in my throat and refused to let go.I didn’t move at first. My body stayed exactly where it was while the sensation spread starting at the mark, then pushing outward in painful waves to my neck and collarbone. My breath stopped for a minute because this is freaking new.I swallowed against it, forcing my hand up to my neck. The skin felt hot but it’s not even surface heat but deeper. Like something was burning under it working its way through me piece by piece.“Not now…” I muttered my voice gritty and gruff from sleep but I pushed myself upright.I stilled my fingers tightening on the edge of the bed as the floor shifted beneath me, my vision blurring at the corners. Black spots danced in and out like they were testing how far they could go before I dropped.I waited it out, counting sheeps slowly in my head unti

Astrid’s POVThe corridor outside the medical wing was too bright. There are way too many people outside. Their voices overlapped, footsteps hurried wit that sharp scent of antiseptic biting at the back of my throat as I pushed through the doors without slowing. One of the junior healers tried to stop me but I didn’t even register what they said. The room was already crowded. Warriors lined the walls, all tense and useless. A healer was arguing under her breath near the cabinet witj her hands shaking as she sorted through vials. And at the center of it all—Calix lay small on the bed looking too still. Mira hovered over him her hands moving faint rapidly as she pressed them to his chest, her voice breaking over itself.“I didn’t mean— I didn’t know— oh please, please wake up —”Her tears fell freely rolling down her face and dripping onto his blanket as her shoulders shook. She looked wrecked and destroyed since it’s her son. It looks convincing enough though. Anthony stood at the s

Astrid’s POV I needed air! The room felt too small after Mira left, the walls pressing in with the weight of what I now knew. So I did what I always did when my mind raced too fast, I went to check on training. The yard was busy with warriors running drills, the clang of practice weapons and shouted commands. Normal pack life continued like my world wasn’t falling apart one poisoned cup at a time. Davian and his people stood near a training tent, talking to some of our warriors. I recognized the setup as assessment. He was cataloging Riftclaw’s strength, its weaknesses filing everything away for later use. I kept my distance while supervising the younger fighters, corrected stances and offered quiet praise. I played the role I’d perfected over years but I felt his eyes on me. That awareness prickled across my skin, making my wolf stir with interest I still didn’t understand. I refused to look or acknowledge the pull that seemed stronger every time we were near each other. The w

  • Reborn As The True Luna   Nighteen

Astrid’s POVI woke up feeling watched but not the creeping unease of danger. It’s something that made my wolf settle instead of bristle like a presence standing guard while I slept which was ridiculous. Maybe it’s just the thought that I’m dying soon is making me feel so.I was losing my mind along with everything else.Morning light filtered through the curtains. I stretched, feeling the familiar burn of the mark then froze. My hand flew to my neck. The heat was worse not agonizing yet but constant now. A low throb that hadn’t been there yesterday. Serra’s medicine was wearing off faster than it should. I quickly got the vial and took one drop for quick ease.I pushed any thought of death away and went through my morning routine mechanically. I showered, got dressed and stared at my reflection and tried to recognize the girl looking back. The black veins had spread further overnight. Thin dark lines creeping down from the mark toward my collarbone. I pulled my hair forward to cover

Davian’s POV“A complication she can’t handle right now.”Dave went quiet then in a quieter voice e said. “You’re afraid.”I didn’t answer.“You’re afraid of becoming your father. Of loving someone so completely that losing them breaks you.”“My father went feral.” The memory tasted like ash. “He nearly destroyed our entire pack before I killed him. I won’t—”“You won’t become him because you’re not him.” Dave’s voice gentled, which was rare for the brute. “And she’s not your mother. She’s stronger than you think.”“She tried to read my mind yesterday during the tour. Touched my hand and pushed with that new Alpha power of hers.” I told him.The memory made me huff something close to amusement even right now. She thinks with her wee new powers that she could just enter an Alpha King’s head? That was bold of her.“And you blocked her.”“Obviously.” I’d felt her mental probe like a gentle pressure against shields I’d spent decades perfecting. “She was upset about it.”“She’s curious abo
