Marco let go of me almost reluctantly moments after Adrian's sports car fired away, leaving a gust of dust.

Dusting invisible specks of dust off my jacket, I cleared my throat.

Marco's eyes seemed to search mine as we walked back to the table where we had been talking earlier. I looked away.

But then I glanced at him again. Shouldn't he be the one avoiding my gaze?

Yet, his eyes remained fixed on me so much that it began to annoy me.

“What are you talking about?” I asked, feigning cluelessness. His face was red with irritation and a tingle of shame. But it didn't stop him from glaring at me. “You staked the house and then left me to clean up your mess. What the hell?!”My brow arched in interest. I hadn't expected him to figure that out so soon, but the earlier the better. For the show of his downfall, I was sat. “Well, you should know about it. You signed the documents,” I kept my tone cool. His eyes blazed now. “I had no freaking idea! You lied to me. You took a stupid loan to build this nonsense and you want me to pay for it. Think again if you think I'm stupid!”Marco walked over to my side with Noah. A small smile settled on my lips when I noticed that Noah no longer shrunk in fear when he saw Adrian. He held Marco’s hand and stood firm.Marco's eyes were cold as ice as he glared at Adrian. “Is he giving you any trouble?”The sincere concern in his voice released butterflies in my stomach but I squashed eve

I cleared my throat so harshly that even the birds flying past seemed startled.Marco turned sharply as I walked to meet Noah. The confusion on his face made me glare at Marco. The strange lady with jet black hair has a frown on her face as she was shoved away by Marco. She was stunning, I had to admit. Yet, something about her character reminded me of Vivian and I just wasn't ready for another drama. “Lena, you're here,” Marco stated, walking in my direction. I took a step backwards. “Apparently, I should have found a better time.”It wasn't my intention to sound so cold, but words came out cold instead.A look that seemed like realization flashed across her face and she pointed a slender, manicured finger in my face. “You can't be serious, Marky-boo. She's the one you said you're getting married to?” The disdain in her voice was clear as day. “Stop calling me that and leave already, Fiona. You can tell my mum I got her message but I'm not interested.”Fiona's face grew red. “Yo

Vivian held her stomach, almost rolling on the ground as she laughed. “Oh my goodness, we've got a real nut case on our hands. How did we ever deal with you?” She asked between laughter. “Gosh, she really is crazy!” Adrian breathed out between laughter. Everyone else laughed hilariously. Someone brought their phone close to my face, laughing ridiculously. “I didn't get a video of it. Say it again, please. I know this video is going to trend like crazy.” Ignoring them, I turned to the saleswoman. “I'll take the dress.” Vivian's laughter died and a stern expression settled on her face. “What do you think you're doing? I want to get that.” “Well, I took it first. No one can read your mind.” Her face grew red and she turned to the saleswoman. “She’s just wasting your time. She can't afford to pay for it. I'm ready to pay cash right now.” The woman gave me an apologetic expression. “I'm sorry, miss. I'd have to sell it to the person who can pay.” “And what makes you think I

LENA'S POVGlancing at my watch, a sigh escaped my lips. Thirty days to the freeze. And seven days after I had agreed to marry Marco Steel. The foundation was set for a bunker thrice my original design based on Marco's requirements.Somehow, getting married to him gave me a sense of assurance. The size of the bunker was definitely an advantage but the way he came with his own requirements… they were almost final. I stepped into the high-end store, feeling awkward and foolish. I should be stocking up for the Freeze, not trying on a freaking wedding gown.“Mummy, you want to get a princess gown?” Noah asked when he saw the large ball gowns lining the shop. Forcing a smile, I nodded. “Something like that.”His eyes lit up. “That's amazing because you look like a princess already!”Before I could respond to him, a sharp laughter from a familiar voice stopped me in my tracks.“What are you doing in a store like this? Surely you can't be looking for a wedding dress too.” It was Vivian.O

MARCO'S POVThe colour drained out of Lena’s face faster than I could say Well Done to Noah.My joy knew no bounds at his consent. He didn't exactly say he wanted me as a dad, but he wanted me as his mother's husband and that was a good start. His appearance had straight up caught me by surprise. Lena must have been very careful to keep him hidden away because in all my research about her after we separated that night, I never saw a mention of a child. As he spoke about Adrian's abandonment, my fists chest to create a dent on the jerk’s face. Not only was he stupid enough to let a gem like Lena slip through his fingers, he had also thrown out his son as well.My jaw clenched. Adrian had a lot coming for him from me. The young boy turned to me with a stern expression. “Don't you dare hurt, mummy. If you do, you'll answer to me.”Lena’s cheek was stained with pink now. “Noah, you can't be serious. We don't even know him.”“But mummy, we do now. We'll also know more about him after yo

“Grandpa, you can't be serious. I don't think that's how marriages are supposed to happen!” “For the first time, I think Marco is actually making sense, Francis. What is this? A silly, romance story of some sort? What do you mean ‘we get married’?” We were both on our feet, totally shocked. But Francis looked unperturbed and perfectly serious. He stretched his hands charismatically. “Sit down and hear me out.” We both stared at him for a moment before lowering ourselves into our seats. “Lena, you're here is worried about us turning on you because of the influence we have and it's totally understandable. That fear would be eliminated once you also hear our name, wouldn't it?” “I'm not afraid,” I tried to convince myself through my teeth. “Why would I want to marry your ill-mannered grandson?” I expected Marco to look hurt or even pin me down with a glare. Instead, I noticed the corner of his mouth twitch upward slightly. “I’m only offering a proposition,” his expression sobe
