“We can smell a presence here. Come out, or we pull you out and give you a merciless death.” The wolf continued to threaten.
Despite the turmoil Freya felt inside her, she pulled the door open and the cold night air slapped her freshly disguised face. The street was littered with dead bodies, and the scent of metal was strong in the air. There was blood everywhere.
The werewolves were there standing, eyes glowing mysteriously in different colors, but Freya was more angry than afraid. She clenched her jaw at the sad thought that she couldn’t kill them all as much as she wanted to. They would overwhelm her and eventually kill her.
A wolf with a jagged scar on his face crossed the space between them and grabbed her roughly like a man they thought she was. She was a warrior, so she had no hard time posing tough.
“Who the hell are you?” He sniffed her body like an animal he was, as if he was suspicious about her. Freya swallowed and kept her voice flat, slightly lowering it to sound more masculine.
“I’m just a stray. Got cut up in the mess.”
“Son of a bitch!” One snapped and swaggered towards her but the wolf with the jagged scar raised a hand to stop him. Freya assumed the scarred wolf is a Gamma, while the others are just pack members.
“He’s got his shoulders up, you should allow me tear him up a bit and see if he would still have that frown on his moustached-baby face. The pack member threatened.
The Gamma gave him a glare and he retreated, before returning his attention to Freya.
His eyes ran over her face, then trailed down to her shoulders, concealed chest, and masculine clothing. She stiffened as he grabbed her chin roughly, tilting her face up toward the light.
“Hmm. Pretty boy,” he muttered, then let her go with a grunt. “Load him up with the rest of the men.”
Freya kept her relief hidden as they shoved her toward the others; the human men, who were beaten and bloodied, packed like cattle into the open-back of a transport truck. Meanwhile, the human women, stripped and humiliated, were being forced into an enclosed blacked-out vehicle. Some sobbed silently, others stared blankly ahead as if their souls had already left them.
Freya’s chest tightened with fury. At that point, she made a vow to herself. She would be their worst nightmare. But firstly, she would start with their beastly Alpha. The thought of driving a silver blade slowly into his heart almost made her grin. Looking forward to that alone would make any pain she experiences while on this journey worth it.
She looked around her. She was amidst men. And the feel of their bodies pressed together was very uncomfortable for her, but it was better than being naked in the car with the women tied together.
The truck started to lurch forward. Bodies pressed together in the back, the stench of sweat, blood, and fear thickening as they drove toward the unknown. None of the humans were speaking, only the wolves making sour and disrespectful comments.
After what seemed like an hour, the car finally pulled over in front of a large gothic-looking building, surrounded by large medieval-looking gates.
Freya’s eyes trailed dazedly over the massive estate before them. Tall iron gates, lined with spikes, stretched high into the sky, while thick walls, reinforced with stone, created an impenetrable perimeter. Beyond the gates, the packhouse loomed. It was a grand, sprawling mansion, its dark stone architecture elegant yet ominous. The estate stretched far, housing multiple buildings, housing quarters, training grounds, watchtowers and several other spaces.
It was one hell of a kingdom. The Alpha must be stinkingly wealthy.
The werewolves hauled the humans out roughly, forcing them into a line. Freya kept her shoulders squared, avoiding sudden movements. Her disguise had worked so far, but she wasn’t foolish enough to believe she was safe.
Just as they got into the vast compound and were making their way through the hallway, a group of higher-ranked wolves waiting, watched with amusement as the naked women's bodies were flaunted before them.
“P…please…let me free” one of the women cried out in terror, and before she could think of getting an answer, a hard hand collided harshly with her soft space, causing her head to snap to the side.
None of the humans dared talk. Freya had to school herself to not appear as disgusted as she felt. The sadistic-looking wolf with jagged teeth, who had just slapped the girl hauled her forward roughly by her arm.
He held her hair and tilted her neck back. She gasped as another set of tears fell from her face. “How about I make her my delicious meal for tonight,” he growled, his tight grip bruising her flesh as he licked his lower lip with his tongue lustfully.
The woman whimpered as he shoved her down, his hand already working at his belt.
Freya’s stomach twisted in revulsion. He was going to take her right there in front of them? The naked girl struggled beneath him as he started groping her. Freya’s breath became disturbed and erratic.
There was no way she would watch this happen. She couldn’t stand and watch…
“That’s enough.” A sultry feminine voice suddenly interrupted, causing all heads to turn towards her as she emerged.
A white-haired lady, dressed in a tight black leather jumpsuit that clung to her body surfaced, sauntering to the scene. She was tall, slim, looking sharp everywhere. Even in the dark, her hazel eyes shone brightly, complimenting her long white hair. She looked like a goddess. Freya already had a guess of who she was.
Her eyes flicked to the big black cat she was holding in her hand, it looked scary.
The cruel wolf hesitated before releasing the woman with a reluctant snarl.
“You’re all acting like savages,” the Luna said, her tone filled with condescension. “The Alpha just lost his brother, and you think this is the time to indulge in cheap sex?” She cast a disgusted glance at the men before curling her lips. “No one touches the humans unless I say so. Do I make myself clear?”
There was absolute silence, then, slowly, the wolves bowed their heads.
Some looked dissatisfied, but none dared to challenge her.
With an air of detached boredom, she began circling the captives, while her fingers idly stroke the black cat in her arms. She scanned each human with the same expression one might give livestock. Then, as she passed Freya, the cat suddenly tensed. Its fur bristled, then it let out series of eerie mews directly at Freya.
Freya stiffened.
The Luna stopped in her tracks. Whenever her cat was like that, then it meant there was something worth of attention it was meowing at. Her lips curled into an amused smile as she tilted her head. “Well, well. What do we have here?”
She stepped closer, peering at Freya with predatory amusement. Freya swallowed and lowered her gaze instinctively to avoid too much scrutiny. Why was the cat like that?
“A pretty young man,” the Luna mused.
The Luna’s fingers brushed against Freya’s chin, tilting her head slightly before nodding in satisfaction. “I’ll take this one,” she declared like she just discovered a fancy toy she liked.
Freya’s pulse stuttered.
“The rest,” the Luna continued, “throw them in the basement until the Alpha decides what to do with them.”
The men were dragged away, some crying out in protest. The women were herded off in a different direction. And Freya was alone now, following the Luna deeper into the estate.
As they walked through a quiet, secluded path toward a separate building at the back of the packhouse, the Luna finally spoke again.
“What’s your name, pretty boy?”
Freya hesitated, as if thinking of a fake name to give her, then replied smoothly, “Ariel.”
The Luna’s eyes twinkled with interest. “A befitting name. Though a cuter name like Ken would have fitted better ” she giggled eerily, stroking the cat in her hand. Her lips quirked in satisfaction. “My little one seems to fancy you. That’s why I chose you.”
Freya forced a small nod, suppressing the unease curling in her stomach. She had a feeling that the Luna wasn’t kind like she seemed. “Yes, she’s not kind” That voice that always spoke to her, appeared in her head again but she shunned it.
“You’re lucky,” The Luna murmured. “Not many humans get to be introduced to our Alpha by me. I guess he would have some errands use for you.”
Freya’s stomach twisted. This was what she wanted, to be close to the Alpha so that she could carry out her mission. Why was she feeling scared all of a sudden? Her hands moved to the beanie in her head to draw it closer to her brows, then touched her fake moustache to make sure it was still intact.
It wasn’t long until they entered a grand hall, and the first thing her eyes settled upon was a dead body on the floor. Then she slowly lifted her gaze to see a massive figure in black cloak seated on a throne, his head bowed, black hair flanking his face and covering his foresight. His two hands that stretched apart on his throne were covered in blood, but there were two female Omegas washing each hand into each small bucket in their hands.
It was Alpha Torin.
“I brought you a gift, my Alpha.” Luna Athena announced, her sultry voice even sultrier. She had ignored the dead body they passed like it was nothing. Did the Alpha kill him? Of course he did. That explained the blood they were washing off his hands.
Freya hadn’t seen his face yet, but she was already sure he was one twisted looking ugly bastard.
“I have no interest in whatever you bring with you.” His baritone voice filled the space, still not looking up. Even his voice was unfriendly, distant, and scary.
Luna Athena’s smile only widened. “I’m sure you would want it when you look up to see. Give it a chance.” She pressed. Then slowly, and relunctantly, he started to lift his face up.
Freya’s lips almost fell as his face came to surface. A god on earth? That was the only description she could come with for the Vicious Alpha. He had never seen any man in her entire life, that was as good looking as him. If gorgeousness was a sin, Alpha Torin was a sin.
How could someone this good-looking be so evil?
“Bring him closer,” Freya’s chest tightened. He was referring to her. The Luna gestured for her to follow and she did till they were right in front of him. He was even more striking up close. Freya swallowed hard for an entirely different reason that wasn’t even out of fear.
He stood in all six-foot-four, towering over Freya, his golden eyes scrutinizing her. Then he said, “I don’t want.”
Elira pulled her hood up to cover half of her face inside the car, Imogene was seated in the passenger’s seat, eyes and mind calculating as she scanned the area called ‘the dark wood’ that they had just arrived in.“Felt like she just left.” Imogene stated. “I was about to say the same thing.” Elira replied. They faced each other, nodded in unison then pulled the car doors open and alighted. The area was dead silent but there were lights around that illuminated the vast lone area.“I still can’t believe her powers did that to us all. Silas is still immobile.” Imogene said, her breath producing cold puffs.“Silas would be okay.” Elira replied as she walked forward.Their boots brushed against the dead leaves and broken twigs littering the floor, and the air smelled of copper. They walked in silence for a few more paces until they came upon a clearing. Elira stopped first when she sighted blood. It was smeared across the jagged face of a boulder—thick, dark, and nearly black in the moon
The forest howled back.Torin’s roar carried like thunder through the trees, and wolves from packs miles away responded instinctively. The sound wasn’t ordinary, it was a command. And some wolves… couldn’t take it.Far in the Eastwood sector, young wolves dropped mid-run, their bodies twitching violently before going still. Others whimpered and backed into the earth, confused and frightened by something older than instinct. The weather felt raw and untamed.Deep within the palace’s eastern wing, where Alpha Zeus’s pack had gathered, chaos erupted.A mother let out a strangled scream as her pup collapsed in her arms. “No…no, no, no…wake up!” she cried, shaking the tiny limp body. Another woman clutched her twin sons, trying to wake them, while two healers rushed forward, feeling helpless.Athena staggered as the floor beneath them trembled. “What the hell is happening!?” She shouted, followed by a low growl. The walls vibrated, and strange symbols; burning runes, lit up like veins alo
“I want what your father kept with you before he died.” Zeus said as a matter of fact, his long crooked jaw tightening like he wasn’t expecting no for an answer.Torin on the other hand looked like he had no idea what he was talking about. “I have no idea what you are talking about, Zeus. And chaining me like this when we should be allies would do no good to you. You were once one of my father’s best. You were my brother's confidant.”Zeus broke out into a dark fit of laughter. Athena smirked as if she was enjoying the show.“Don’t play jokes with me, you weakling. I was never loyal to your family because I love them. I wanted to be god, and getting close to the ones who had the power was my only way.” Zeus sneered. That seemed to undo Torin’s patience.“Don’t call me a weakling when it’s you who is the son of a man who was beheaded for hiding away when he was supposed to go to war, and you the son who pretended to be dead just because…”A sickening punch followed Torin’s words. Zeus
His lips parted to call her name, “Freya?”The creature let out a long breath then collapsed to the ground, its long tails wiggling slightly. In a blink, her form began to change. The dark fur melted away. Her bones shifted. Limbs reshaped. There, lying in the blood-stained grass under the heavy rain, was Freya—naked, fragile-looking, her body pale and bruised. The cat rested beside her, curled gently into the crook of her limp arm.She wasn’t moving.“Freya,” Torin gasped, rushing forward as he called her name again. He couldn’t think, he couldn’t focus on himself even though his wounds were severe. He knelt and lifted her into his arms, heart pounding. Her skin was cold and her breathing was faint. She had come for him. She had saved him. This very woman who had gone through a lot under him had come to save him.And hell, was her strength impressive? He hadn’t seen anything like it.The cat hopped onto his shoulder as if it had done this a hundred times before.Without thinking twic
The kiss was deep, claiming and hot. Freya held still, letting him lead it. She kissed him back with the imagination that it was Torin before her.His hands slid down to her hips, gripping her tightly, lifting her up and placing her onto the bed. Her body sank into the soft furs, but the comfort felt like a lie.Silas came down over her, pressing kisses along her collarbone, breathing ragged now. The bond between them pulsed like a second heartbeat. The magic around them shimmered, curling tighter, pulling at their wolves. And that was when it began.A low growl curled from Freya’s body. It started deep, so deep it vibrated through Freya’s bones. It was her wolf. Her body jerked.Silas immediately stopped mid-kiss, his head rising as he heard it.“Are you okay?” He asked amidst ragged breath.Freya’s eyes were wide, glowing faintly now. Her chest heaved. Her skin began to flush dark—patches blooming across her arms, her neck, and her stomach. Then she snarled violently like a warning
It was time. The sacred chamber felt like a trap the moment Freya stepped into it. Blue fire flickered from tall candles that circled the altar, strange glows on the stone carvings beneath her feet. There were other seven witches surrounding them, their faces covered with black garments, candles in their hands.Freya stood still, dressed in only a soft strip of cloth wrapped around her chest and another around her hips. Her succulent tanned skin was bare, oiled and warm, slick with the herbs rubbed into her by Elira’s hands before this very moment. Every part of her had been touched, coated, and prepared to receive a bond she never asked for.Elira's fingers moved down her back now, smoothing the oil along her spine. Her touch was calm, like she was brushing over an object instead of a person. “You must be still,” she said softly. “You cannot fight it. The bond will only hold if you submit fully.”Freya said nothing. She didn’t need to answer. Her plan was already sealed inside her.
