Chapter 1

After dying once, I was finally living the life I never dared to imagine in my past life. But I never expected to see Damian again, who, it seemed, had been reborn as well.

Damian and I met again was at the annual Pack Alliance Summit.

I had just pulled two all-nighters finishing the initial drafts for a jewelry design exhibition in the human world. Disheveled and too exhausted to change, I went straight to the grand hall.

Damian stood in the center of the Silver Moon pack, his arm wrapped around Aria's slender waist, basking in the praise of the crowd.

"Damian, you're the pride of our pack! In the few short years since you became Alpha, and you've already doubled our territory!"

"It's true, your power is immense. The elders say your aura now rivals that of the legendary Alpha King's!"

"Alpha Damian, my pack wishes to pledge allegiance to you. Just say the word, and our loyalty is yours!"

A Beta warrior in the crowd asked curiously, "Alpha Damian, are you and Miss Aria holding your mating ceremony on the next full moon?"

Damian leaned in, tenderly inhaling the scent from the crook of Aria's neck, the unique fragrance of her own Alpha bloodline.

"That's right. On the next full moon, we will complete our mating."

The announcement was met with a fresh wave of howls and blessings.

An old friend suddenly spoke up. "Damian, are you still in touch with Selene? You two were True Mates chosen by the Moon Goddess herself! I heard your first Alpha roar was a call to find her!"

At the mention of my name, Damian's expression turned to ice, his golden wolf eyes darkening slightly.

It was Aria, however, who stepped out from his embrace, a faint, practiced smile playing on her lips.

"Damian and I will soon be bonded for life," she said, her voice gentle, her smile elegant and poised.

"The threads of fate can be rewoven. We all make mistakes when we're young. But Damian has long since moved on from that unsuitable mate bond."

"You're right, my love," Damian chimed in. "Meeting you made me stronger."

The surrounding pack members laughed along, continuing to praise them as a true match made in heaven.

But I remembered. I remembered that first Alpha roar on his eighteenth birthday, the first time his wolf had howled for me.

In our past life, we were true mates, handpicked by the moon goddess, drawn to each other by a connection that ran soul-deep.

He had pinned me against a laurel tree, his hot breath ghosting against my ear. "Selene, look at me. My wolf has chosen you. The mate bond never lies."

And I had believed him with all my heart.

A shame he betrayed the Goddess's will in the end.

I watched them from the entrance, my face a carefully constructed mask of indifference, and then walked into the hall.

A sharp-eyed Beta recognized me.

"Selene, you're finally here!"

"Gods, you're still in human clothes. You don't even have a ceremonial gown."

"Were you exiled? You don't have a single pack marking on you, and even your wolf scent is so faint! Quick, tell us, what hole have you been hiding in to survive?"

Seeing my attire, many of the werewolves around me let out undisguised snickers.

I couldn't be bothered to respond, just offered a tight, dismissive smile, holding on to the last shred of my dignity.

Damian's gaze had been locked on me like a dagger from the moment I entered.

Just one look, and I knew—he had come back, just like me.

"Long time no see," I said coolly.

His eyes held a storm of emotions before settling into sharp ridicule.

"Selene. It's been seven years, and your wolf has nearly vanished. What a pathetic Omega."

Aria clearly had no intention of letting me off the hook either, her eyes filled with a playful malice.

She deliberately pressed herself closer, melting into Damian's side, in a clear declaration of ownership.

"Damian, don't be so harsh. She's pitiful enough as it is. We shouldn't twist the knife."

She scanned me from head to toe, undisguised contempt in her eyes.

"But Selene, your outfit really is… shabby. No matter how poor life gets, you must have some pride as a she-wolf. Otherwise, what pack would ever take in a rejected, worthless Omega?"

When I saw Damian again, he was terribly gaunt. His once-strong body was withered, a mere shadow of the powerful Alpha he used to be.He stared blankly out the window. Only when I entered the room did a spark of light return to his vacant eyes.He looked down at his own curse-ravaged body and gave a self-deprecating laugh."Selene… I must look hideous right now, huh?"I didn't answer. He continued, "I'm sorry. I was too greedy, and too weak. I craved power, but I couldn't handle failure, so I blamed it all on you.""This is probably my punishment.""Selene, tell me… if we could start over, if this time, I cherished you properly… would you still choose me?"Seeing the pitiful glimmer of hope in his eyes, I shattered his fantasy without hesitation."No. There are no what-ifs.""Besides, Damian, your nature would never change. Your ambition would never be satisfied."An eternally unsatisfied Alpha could never find happiness, no matter how many second chances he got.Damian looked at me, t

Every werewolf thought my becoming the Luna Queen was a blessing from the moon goddess. But I knew that in our union, Kael and I were equals.Damian saw me as nothing more than a rejected Omega who got lucky, but he had no idea that my designs had already conquered the human world. And Kael… Kael was willing to see every part of me.He had once licked the nape of my neck gently, whispering in my ear, "My Queen, your jewelry can command human desire. That is a territory no pack's army could ever conquer. You… you are the true sovereign."It was because of Kael that I finally understood what a true partnership was.It wasn't one side possessing and the other submitting. It was two powerful wolves, ruling their territory side-by-side, supporting and elevating each other. There was no way a few desperate howls from Damian could make me doubt the bond I shared with Kael. But it seemed Damian still hadn't given up.One day, he crashed the opening ceremony for my flagship jewelry store. He wa

A month later, the moon was full once more.By order of the Alpha King, Aria's family was stripped of their territory and their entire pack was exiled for treason.I was shocked when the royal guard brought the news. Aria, the once-proud Alpha's daughter, seemed so fragile under the iron fist of the monarchy. The bloodline she was so proud of had vanished into thin air. Her father, that ambitious old Alpha, was executed on the spot for resisting the royal decree.Even more tragic were the pack members they had incited—they had blindly followed their leaders, only to become homeless rogues. When I heard the news, I couldn't help but sigh. "How foolish. Ambition devours everything."Kael hugged me from behind, resting his chin on my shoulder and whispering plaintively, "My Queen, don't let your words wound me. My only ambition is you."I smiled.Kael had always upheld the most ancient laws of the werewolf packs. He protected the weak, respected life, and brought fairness and order to al

We fell in love naturally and completed our mating bond. The ceremony was incredibly private, with only the most trusted members of the royal family in attendance. Under the watch of the moon goddess, we forged an eternal bond.As I finished my story, Damian's eyes were bloodshot."That pup… is he really your child?""But you swore to the moon goddess that your body and soul would belong only to me! How could you have a child with another Alpha?!"His question was so absurdly foolish that I could only turn his own logic against him."Damian, you were the one who severed our bond. That oath has been void for a long time. Why bring it up now?""The moment you cast me aside, we were fated to have no more connection. Isn't that what you wanted?""Besides, you were the one filled with regret when you were with me. You hated the very idea of having a pup with me. And I couldn't accept a life like that, either."A furious growl tore from Damian's throat. "I regretted it because you betrayed m

The expression on Damian's face shifted from disbelief to shock, and finally, to a dead, hollow emptiness.Perhaps the woman I used to be would have been heartbroken by his every move. But he was right. The past is the past. There's no point dwelling on it.A smart wolf looks forward, especially when the past isn't worth remembering.I had a new mate, our pup, the career I'd always dreamed of, and a partnership built on respect and love—things I never dared to hope for in my old life.No matter how I looked at it, I was infinitely happier now. This summit was supposed to be Aria's stage, but after my identity was revealed, everything changed. The pack's scorn twisted into fervent adoration. The sycophants who had been fawning over Aria just a second ago now swarmed me."I can't believe Her Highness is our Luna Queen! And to think Damian wanted to palm her off on some lesser pack. How absurd!""I know, right? He thought she was suffering after he rejected her, but she went and became th

The little prince, who'd been acting so high-and-mighty a moment ago, completely sad the instant he saw me."You didn't come home last night! Leo missed you so much!"I swept my son into a tight hug as he ran to me, murmuring soothing words."Mommy had to work, sweetie. Didn't I tell you before I left? I have tomorrow off. How about I take you to the Moonlight Forest to run wild?"My precious Leo nodded eagerly. "Okay! Leo loves Mommy the most!"Every werewolf in the hall stared at us like they had seen a ghost. The room was dead silent.Just as someone was about to speak, a figure descended slowly from the royal suite upstairs—a presence so powerful it made every wolf's instincts scream at them to submit. He radiated a pure, regal aura, and each step seemed to echo in the heartbeats of the crowd."My Luna," Alpha King Kael's voice was deep and magnetic. "I heard you were at the Alliance Summit. Next time you're done with work, remember to let me know through the mind-link. I'll come g
