Chapter 2

Author: Shirley
The moment she finished, the werewolves in attendance erupted in laughter.

And she was right. Aria was draped in a custom-made ceremonial gown, adorned with a moonstone necklace that symbolized her noble bloodline. Every strand of her hair seemed to shine, and she radiated the regal aura of a wolf princess.

And then there was me. I had just torn myself away from my workbench, after a twenty-four-hour shift to meet a deadline. I was a ghost—exhausted and haggard.

The clothes on my back were from a common human brand, paling in comparison to her splendor.

"Thanks for the advice, but I don't need it," I replied simply, walking over to the buffet table and taking a seat. After the intense work, my body was screaming for fuel.

Just as I was focusing on the delicious food, Damian suddenly appeared before me.

He tossed the crest of the Silver Moon pack on the table in front of me.

"This is charity, for the past life···the past love’s sake. Take better care of yourself from now on. Find a pack willing to take you in, buy some decent clothes, and learn to value yourself."

"Selene, what's past is past. Don't live in the shadow of my rejection forever."

"If you hadn't... never mind. There's no point in talking about it now."

"The important thing is that you don't completely give up on yourself because of me. Don't waste your life as a rogue, understand?"

I looked up, confused, and stared at Damian.

His half-spoken words brought back memories from our last life, the very things that had made him discard me so cruelly after our rebirth.

In our past life, we were the moon goddess's chosen mates.

He was ambitious, wanting to be the strongest Alpha, while I dreamed of becoming a world-class jewelry designer.

But at that time, the wolf world was in turmoil. Packs were at war, and Damian needed vast resources to secure his position.

So, I had to stand by his side.

Because I loved him, I gave up my chance to study in Paris without a second thought.

During his most difficult times, I traded my most secret, handcrafted jewelry designs for the favor of other pack nobles, ultimately securing him the funds and powerful warriors he needed.

He challenged and fought, again and again, returning bloodied and on the brink of collapse.

And I was his anchor, carefully soothing his volatile Alpha nature every time he came home exhausted.

I thought the love between us needed no words.

I never imagined that after he finally became the undisputed Alpha, when I asked him to fulfill the Goddess's will and mate with me, he would look at me with such cold eyes.

"Did you know? Aria's father has already promised that if I mate with her, his pack will forge an alliance with mine!"

"I regret ever trusting fate and marking you."

After that, he stopped coming near me, losing the instinct to be close. He was no longer the Alpha who had once chased after justice.

And because of his words, "I regret it," I licked my wounds through countless lonely nights.

I made one last, desperate attempt, holding him tight and saying in a trembling voice:

"Damian, let's have a pup of our own, please."

He shoved me away violently, his eyes filled with revulsion.

"I've told you before, I hate the whining of pups! And I don't want a child tainted by your weakness!"

Those two sentences shattered every belief I had in so-called true love.

On the night of our fated mating ceremony, the enemy attack that took both our lives came as a relief.

In that moment, I felt no fear, only an unprecedented sense of release.

Now, reborn, we had each chosen different paths. There was no need to dwell on the past.

I expressionlessly pushed the crest back to him. "No, thank you. I have no intention of joining a stranger's pack."

When I saw Damian again, he was terribly gaunt. His once-strong body was withered, a mere shadow of the powerful Alpha he used to be.He stared blankly out the window. Only when I entered the room did a spark of light return to his vacant eyes.He looked down at his own curse-ravaged body and gave a self-deprecating laugh."Selene… I must look hideous right now, huh?"I didn't answer. He continued, "I'm sorry. I was too greedy, and too weak. I craved power, but I couldn't handle failure, so I blamed it all on you.""This is probably my punishment.""Selene, tell me… if we could start over, if this time, I cherished you properly… would you still choose me?"Seeing the pitiful glimmer of hope in his eyes, I shattered his fantasy without hesitation."No. There are no what-ifs.""Besides, Damian, your nature would never change. Your ambition would never be satisfied."An eternally unsatisfied Alpha could never find happiness, no matter how many second chances he got.Damian looked at me, t

Every werewolf thought my becoming the Luna Queen was a blessing from the moon goddess. But I knew that in our union, Kael and I were equals.Damian saw me as nothing more than a rejected Omega who got lucky, but he had no idea that my designs had already conquered the human world. And Kael… Kael was willing to see every part of me.He had once licked the nape of my neck gently, whispering in my ear, "My Queen, your jewelry can command human desire. That is a territory no pack's army could ever conquer. You… you are the true sovereign."It was because of Kael that I finally understood what a true partnership was.It wasn't one side possessing and the other submitting. It was two powerful wolves, ruling their territory side-by-side, supporting and elevating each other. There was no way a few desperate howls from Damian could make me doubt the bond I shared with Kael. But it seemed Damian still hadn't given up.One day, he crashed the opening ceremony for my flagship jewelry store. He wa

A month later, the moon was full once more.By order of the Alpha King, Aria's family was stripped of their territory and their entire pack was exiled for treason.I was shocked when the royal guard brought the news. Aria, the once-proud Alpha's daughter, seemed so fragile under the iron fist of the monarchy. The bloodline she was so proud of had vanished into thin air. Her father, that ambitious old Alpha, was executed on the spot for resisting the royal decree.Even more tragic were the pack members they had incited—they had blindly followed their leaders, only to become homeless rogues. When I heard the news, I couldn't help but sigh. "How foolish. Ambition devours everything."Kael hugged me from behind, resting his chin on my shoulder and whispering plaintively, "My Queen, don't let your words wound me. My only ambition is you."I smiled.Kael had always upheld the most ancient laws of the werewolf packs. He protected the weak, respected life, and brought fairness and order to al

We fell in love naturally and completed our mating bond. The ceremony was incredibly private, with only the most trusted members of the royal family in attendance. Under the watch of the moon goddess, we forged an eternal bond.As I finished my story, Damian's eyes were bloodshot."That pup… is he really your child?""But you swore to the moon goddess that your body and soul would belong only to me! How could you have a child with another Alpha?!"His question was so absurdly foolish that I could only turn his own logic against him."Damian, you were the one who severed our bond. That oath has been void for a long time. Why bring it up now?""The moment you cast me aside, we were fated to have no more connection. Isn't that what you wanted?""Besides, you were the one filled with regret when you were with me. You hated the very idea of having a pup with me. And I couldn't accept a life like that, either."A furious growl tore from Damian's throat. "I regretted it because you betrayed m

The expression on Damian's face shifted from disbelief to shock, and finally, to a dead, hollow emptiness.Perhaps the woman I used to be would have been heartbroken by his every move. But he was right. The past is the past. There's no point dwelling on it.A smart wolf looks forward, especially when the past isn't worth remembering.I had a new mate, our pup, the career I'd always dreamed of, and a partnership built on respect and love—things I never dared to hope for in my old life.No matter how I looked at it, I was infinitely happier now. This summit was supposed to be Aria's stage, but after my identity was revealed, everything changed. The pack's scorn twisted into fervent adoration. The sycophants who had been fawning over Aria just a second ago now swarmed me."I can't believe Her Highness is our Luna Queen! And to think Damian wanted to palm her off on some lesser pack. How absurd!""I know, right? He thought she was suffering after he rejected her, but she went and became th

The little prince, who'd been acting so high-and-mighty a moment ago, completely sad the instant he saw me."You didn't come home last night! Leo missed you so much!"I swept my son into a tight hug as he ran to me, murmuring soothing words."Mommy had to work, sweetie. Didn't I tell you before I left? I have tomorrow off. How about I take you to the Moonlight Forest to run wild?"My precious Leo nodded eagerly. "Okay! Leo loves Mommy the most!"Every werewolf in the hall stared at us like they had seen a ghost. The room was dead silent.Just as someone was about to speak, a figure descended slowly from the royal suite upstairs—a presence so powerful it made every wolf's instincts scream at them to submit. He radiated a pure, regal aura, and each step seemed to echo in the heartbeats of the crowd."My Luna," Alpha King Kael's voice was deep and magnetic.
