Chapter 3

Author: Perfect Timing
Back then, Yvonne's foolishness had left me disfigured and bleeding out on the floor.

Now, though, I had decided to let her and her cheating husband stay together. I'd let her see Julian's true colors for herself.

Whatever happened afterward wouldn't be my problem.

That night, I stayed over at our parents' house. I couldn't help but smile when I heard the noise coming from her room.

The next morning, I teased Julian, "Busy, huh? It didn't sound like you were lacking energy last night. You two kept me up half the night."

Yvonne instantly turned red. Julian hid his face, embarrassed.

Before I left, Yvonne grabbed my arm. "Thanks, Xena. Your suggestion really worked. Julian was like a possessed man last night. But he said that the pill shouldn't be taken often. He doesn't seem too willing to try it again."

I encouraged her, saying, "You're not asking for anything unreasonable. You're his wife; it's normal. Besides, you're doing this for a baby. If he won't take it, just slip it into his food or drink."

Yvonne was convinced.

As for me, the moment I returned to the office, I started working on a transfer application to one of the overseas branches.

I made sure to come home for dinner every night to keep an eye on Yvonne and Julian. Yvonne couldn't stop bragging about her perfect marriage. "Julian's so drained, he doesn't even have the energy for business trips anymore. It's great. At this rate, I'll be pregnant in no time."

I told her to post more on social media to show off her sweet married life. She couldn't resist and did as told. Every day, she would post either about how much she loved Julian or how much Julian adored her. She even hinted at what happened in the bedroom in some of her captions.

Time passed, and Yvonne asked me to go to the hospital with her. Sure enough, she was pregnant. Everything was going according to my plan.

"Good news calls for a proper celebration. As your sister, I'll make sure it's done in style," I said with a fake smile.

Over dinner, I deliberately brought it up with Julian. "You should invite all your coworkers. We have to share the news with everyone."

"I don't think we need to invite them. It's a private matter…" he hesitated.

I pressed him, asking, "Why do you sound like you don't want them to find out that Yvonne's pregnant?"

I remembered how, in my past life, Tristan had thrown their love in Yvonne's face. He said Julian only ever loved him and that she was the real homewrecker. He had even mocked her, shouting, "Julian doesn't want kids with you because he loves me. He can't even stand touching you!"

Yvonne had fainted on the spot.

That was when I realized that Tristan wasn't a pushover. Now, I wanted Julian's affair to go up in flames.

Julian forced a smile. "You're overthinking it. I just don't want to waste your money."

Yvonne kissed his cheek and said, "Oh, honey. You're always so considerate."

"Julian's so thoughtful. He'll be a wonderful father," my parents chimed in.

I waved it off, making it clear that money wasn't a problem. I was just happy to do it for my sister.

"Yvonne has wanted this for so long. Now that all the tests have come back normal, I want to share this happiness with the whole world."

Since I was footing the bill, no one objected. Not even Julian.

Later, I spoke to Yvonne in private. "While I do trust Julian, I have to look out for you as a sister. It's only natural that other women might try to throw themselves at a man as outstanding as he is. Plus, you'll be tied down for months with the pregnancy."

Men cheating on their wives while they were pregnant happened all the time.

Yvonne's expression grew tense. "You're right. What should I do?"

"Why don't you visit his office yourself? Invite every last one of his coworkers. That way, everyone knows he has a pregnant wife waiting at home. A little social pressure should keep him in check."

I even offered to tag along so that I wouldn't miss the show.

Yvonne was over the moon, praising me for being a genius.

On the big day, we stepped into Julian's office. Tristan was practically glued to him, whispering in his ear. If it weren't for all the people around, Julian's hand would've already been all over him.

I leaned over and whispered to Yvonne, "Sneak up on him and cover his eyes. Give him a surprise."

My love-struck sister lit up at the idea.

Yvonne's obsession was beyond saving. She was seven months pregnant by now, so abortion wasn't even an option. My parents tried to persuade her, "Have the baby, then divorce him. We don't want a man like that in our family.""This house is mine. If you can't accept my husband, then get out," she exploded, wanting to shove Mom, Dad, and Julian out of the house.Julian swore he hadn't gone back to fooling around with men. Then, he turned around and accused Dad. He claimed that Dad had caught some disease from a prostitute and passed it on to the family.Dad was so angry that he had a heart attack and had to be rushed to the hospital. That was the breaking point. My parents finally opened their eyes and decided to give up on Yvonne. "We were blind, Xena. We spoiled Yvonne so much but never you," they admitted. "Just live your life well. Don't let us drag you down."I felt the weight lift from me after receiving the apology they owed me since my past life. I told them to stay out o

Yvonne was fuming over the comments, declaring she'd sue the online trolls. Julian hovered over her, reassuring her that all that mattered was that they lived their lives normally.Even my parents gave in and said, "Getting an abortion is dangerous. As long as Julian recognizes his mistakes and changes, we can have the baby."I had predicted things would end up this way. My only hope was that they stayed far away from me and kept the chaos off my back. That night, I packed my bags and left the hospital, planning to go abroad. I had given prior notice, so no one complained about my sudden departure.Once overseas, I used work as an excuse to reduce contact with my family. Still, I saw Yvonne bragging about her marriage online daily. Julian had become a stay-at-home husband, cooking for her and pampering her endlessly.Even before their first child was born, she had declared, "We'll have a second child regardless of the first one's gender!"Julian didn't stay obedient for long. Sur

I didn't want to give Yvonne any ideas. The last thing I needed was for her to cling to me again.Yvonne kept crying. "Julian isn't that kind of person. I won't believe it!""Weren't you always saying you hated cheaters? Besides, he's gay; he doesn't love you." I nudged her. That set her off completely. "Julian isn't gay! He was seduced by Tristan and lost control for a moment, that's all!"Dad slapped her across the face. "How much longer will you be in denial? Our family's reputation is ruined, yet you're still acting like this?"Mom joined in, scolding Yvonne for being naive and reckless.Since the hall was in chaos back then, nobody had time to figure out the real source of the scandal. My family assumed it was Tristan's fault, while Julian's family thought it was Yvonne's fault.Amid the shouting, I leaned back on the hospital bed and scrolled through my phone."A cheating scammer? Shouldn't there be laws against people like him? And that homewrecker, Tristan, should be pu

Tristan's confession set the room on fire, and guests raised their phones."He's been cheating on his wife? Disgusting!"Just as she did in my previous life, Yvonne fainted at the spot.Mom screamed, "You animals! Yvonne's carrying your child, Julian!"Seeing Yvonne in this state only stoked the crowd's fury.My dad grabbed a wine bottle and brought it down on Julian's head.Julian's parents lunged forward, shielding him. "Who said you could lay a hand on him?"Relatives from both sides of the family rolled up their sleeves, ready to fight."It was you, wasn't it? You planned all this," I said, seizing the chance to hurl the blame on Tristan. "You planned that coming-out video and showed it today to force my sister and Julian apart!"Tristan, determined to be with Julian, fearlessly pushed me away. "So what if I did? And what if I didn't? Either way, I'm not letting go of him unless you kill me!""I knew you were here just to wreck everything!" Julian snapped. He tried to ru

Yvonne went as white as a sheet.Julian tightened his arms around her. "Believe me, this is a setup. Someone's trying to drive us apart!" he frantically explained.Dad finally snapped into action and hauled Julian away. "What's going on here?"I grabbed a glass and hurled it at Tristan."The other man in the video is right here, look!" I shouted, then lunged at Tristan. "What's going on between you and my brother-in-law? You owe us an explanation!"Whispers swelled into full-blown gossip. "It looks real. Are they a couple?"Yvonne was speechless the whole time. I staged a breakdown, forcing the spotlight on her."Yvonne, did you know about this?" I demanded. "You're his wife. Only you would have the chance to collect evidence. You endured everything so that you could expose him today, didn't you?"The crowd ate it up, and voices rose in agreement. "That's true. Only his wife could've filmed those scenes. Poor thing, she's been deceived."Julian wanted to cover it up, but Trist

When I returned to the table, Julian was holding Yvonne as he thanked everyone for their well-wishes.I leaned close to Yvonne and whispered, "The staff are asking if they can play the video now."She nodded. The lights dimmed, and the big screen flickered on.Yvonne stood up proudly and announced, "Honey, I love you so much. Thank you for marrying me. This little surprise is not only to thank you but also to show everyone our love."All eyes turned to the screen. But what showed up on the screen was not her heartfelt confession. Instead, it was a blown-up shot of Julian kissing Tristan. Then came the recording of their shameless conversation. The room went silent. Everyone was shocked, but nobody could look away from the screen.Julian was the first to react. "What kind of sick prank is this? Stop it! Turn it off!"He scrambled to his feet in an attempt to rush backstage. But right then, the screen cut to footage of him and Tristan in the car.Sweat dripped down his face. He
