—Rhea—

Strong arms held me close around my waist. When I opened my eyes, I saw Callum sleeping peacefully next to me, his breathing calm.

I smiled at his handsome face. My eyes drifted to his neck. The purple marks were fading, but my bite was still visible on his marking spot. Relief washed over me. He was mine, and I was his. Nothing could come between us now, not even the curse.

I glanced at the window. It was still dark, but dawn was coming soon. I had to wake Callum before daylight.

—Rhea—I didn’t have time to guess who they were because Callum was already kissing me passionately, making my body tremble and moan with pleasure. We lost ourselves in a wave of ecstasy, forgetting everything else for a moment. Our breaths mixed together, our cries of pleasure blending into a gentle rhythm in the quiet night, until a long moan echoed in the room as we reached the peak of ecstasy."Darling, you’re amazing," I praised him breathlessly. "I was almost overwhelmed."Callum chuckled, then kissed my forehead and eyes. "That’s your punishment for losing focus earlier, my love."I was surprised. Callum knew what I’d been thinking earlier. "It wasn’t that I lost focus, love. I was just afraid that bad people might show up.""No excuses. I know exactly what I’m doing," he murmured, playing with my hair, damp with sweat."Yes, my beloved Alpha. I won’t do it again," I replied with a sheepish grin.Callum smiled and kissed my lips. His face looked bright and handsome, with no sig

—Rhea—I closed the book I was reading, put away my important notes, and stacked them neatly. Uncle was still at the medicine table, mixing a new concoction based on what I'd found in the book. We were still trying to find a way to break the hex hurting Callum, or at least lessen its effects."Uncle, it's already late. You should go to bed," I said as I walked over to him."It's almost done, Rhe. If I wait until tomorrow, I'm afraid the medicine won't be as effective. The ingredients could evaporate or be contaminated by negative elements if we delay.""But isn't this place clean enough, Uncle?""That's true, Rhe. But we never know if someone could send a curse here and affect the medicine. So, when making remedies, never delay the process.""Alright, Uncle. I understand. Then let me help you, so we can finish faster."Uncle Bram nodded and smiled. "So, what else did you learn today, Rhe?""Yes, Uncle. If the curse was sent by a hex through black magic, there are a few ways to deal wi

—Maren—The moment I’d been waiting for finally arrived. I put on my best dress and accessories. This wasn’t just any party. I needed to show my class as the future Luna of the Sollene Pack.“Aren’t you going to say goodbye to the Alpha, Maren?” my mother asked.“What’s the point, Mom? The guards would stop me again. Let’s not lower ourselves any further. We’ll wait until Callum gets better, then you and Dad can talk to him,” I complained.I said goodbye to my parents and set off, escorted by my five personal guards. After several hours of travel, I finally arrived at the Silver Shadow Pack. The atmosphere was festive, with beautiful decorations everywhere. Today was Princess Celestia’s seventeenth birthday, the beloved daughter of Alpha Roderick. All the Alphas, Lunas, and nobles from the surrounding packs had been invited.“Welcome, Lady Maren Sallow. Please take your seat,” A greeter said after checking my invitation.I nodded and followed another attendant to my seat. The main hal

—Maren—“How can we be detained here?! This is completely unreasonable!” I yelled, glaring at the two guards who stood firm, blocking the hallway to Alpha Callum’s private room.My parents stood beside me, their faces just as furious. Behind us, Elder Orson and Elder Silas, both influential elders in the pack, also raised strong protests at the guards.“Why is Elder Normand the only one allowed to come and go to Alpha’s room as he pleases?!” Elder Orson snapped, pointing his wooden staff at the hallway door. “The two of us are also members of the council! We have just as much right to know our leader’s condition directly!”“That’s right!” my mother added, her voice sharp. “We aren’t outsiders you can just push around! Our family has a very close relationship with Alpha Callum!”I stepped forward, puffed out my chest, and glared at the guards. “Do you realize who you’re dealing with? Everyone in this pack already supports me! In just three moons, I’ll officially be your Luna! As the fu

—Callum—I pointed to the sofa in the corner of my private chamber. "Sit down, Turan," I said firmly.Turan, still looking shaken and stunned, stepped forward slowly. He took a deep breath, trying to steady his expression, then sat down across from me."What did you conclude from your discussion with Normand and Mr. Branwell?" I asked, getting straight to the point.Turan cleared his throat softly, adjusting his posture to regain his composure as Beta. "Everything is well-prepared, Alpha. Starting this morning, we will spread the news throughout the entire pack that your condition has worsened and you have fallen seriously ill."He paused, watching me to see how I would react before going on. "To make the story believable, Elder Normand will have the pack’s well-known healers come and go from the palace often. These healers will give official explanations about your mysterious illness. With this, Maren and his followers will be even more sure that you are powerless and trapped."I nod

—Rhea—I took a slow breath. "Uncle, I've finished reading the ancient books you gave me yesterday," I said, trying to explain. Uncle Bram listened intently."So? What did you find in those books, Rhe?" Uncle Bram asked.I pulled out a small sheet of notes. "One of those ancient books has a section that explains the different types of dark curses in detail. From what I read, two main types are the deadliest and most often attack our people. What worries me is that each curse has its own character, treatment, and antidote, and they're completely different. Even a small mistake in handling the wrong type could be fatal for the victim," I said.I paused and looked at Uncle, still sitting in his dining chair. "But the real problem is, I still don't know which type of curse is attacking Callum and eating away at him."Uncle Bram furrowed his brow deeply. His rough fingers stroked his chin. He looked at me in confusion. "Why don't you just ask Alpha Callum directly, Rhe? Weren't you just wi
