Chapter 5: A Fine Of $10,000

Kate was surprised to see Felix, "when and how did he get here...?".

"I promised Mr Cain I was going to protect you", Felix stated in a serious tone, answering her unspoken question.

"Don't worry Ma'am, Mr Cain knows about this and legal actions will be taken".

Kate was still in daze having no time to process what he had said, Rose turned pale in fear.

"Legal actions", Felix words rang in her head.

"I don't think there's any need for that", Rose said interrupting Kate and Felix.

Kate broke out of her reverie, seeing Rose sweating in fear with a pleading look.

"Why not", Kate demanded, faking to be angry. This wasn't originally what she planned but it will still work to her advantage.

"You were about to throw me out, like I was trash and even dared to defame me", Kate crossed her arms, her aura fierce.

Rose gulped in fear, not knowing what to say. She looked at Kate pleadingly.

"That was my mistake.....".

"Yes, a foolish one at that. And TAC Limited don't work with those who don't know how to treat people with respect", Kate said in a displeased tone, stopping herself from laughing at Rose's pitiful state.

"No, this doesn't happen", Rose pleaded, seeing as the situation was turning from bad to worse.

"Really?".

"I'm sorry Miss Cosgrove, I promise this won't ever happen again ", Rose apologized, her head hung low, as she let her pride down forgetting about whatever hate she had towards Taylor. The contract was more important now.

"Unfortunately there won't be a next time", Kate said indifferently.

"What!", Rose raised her head sharply to look at Kate.

"TAC Limited won't be signing the contract with FastTech Limited", Kate announced, her words final. The whole place turned silent.

Rose felt her knees go numb, "no, all her hard work and efforts can't go in vain".

"And I'll make sure to sue you for libel and harassment . Have a nice day", Kate said about walking away when Rose grabbed her wrist.

She couldn't let Taylor walk away, holding her wrist tightly. "No, don't do this, I’m ready to face whatever punishment you want to give me. Just sign the contract", Rose begged.

"You'll face your punishment in court", Kate answered. "Unless you want me to join assault on what I'll sue you for, leave my hand alone", she warned.

Rose looked down at where her hand tightly gripped Kate's wrist, and quickly let her hand go. She watched Kate walk out of the company with Felix following closely behind.

Rose fell on her knees dejectedly, she was going to be sued but worse she lost the contract.

The workers looked at their Boss, some felt sorry for her while others believed she deserved it, either way they lost the contract which was a huge loss for them.

Rose dug her nails into her palm angrily. "Taylor! Taylor! Taylor! ever since she came into her life she had been experiencing nothing but bad luck, but not anymore", she vowed.

Kate had just stepped out of the company when her phone rang, picking the call.

"Kate, are you okay?"Andrew asked worriedly. "How dare they..... don't worry they are going to face legal actions for what they did".

Kate raised her eyebrows at Felix questioning while the latter just shrugged in response.

"We aren't signing any contract with them ever", Andrew concluded angrily.

"No, we are still going to sign the contract", Kate Interrupted.

"But...after what they did to you", Andrew protested, he wasn't going to let Kate go into that place ever again. If Felix wasn't there what would have happened, Andrew grimaced at the thought of something bad happening to Kate.

"Yes", Kate nodded.

Andrew signed in defeat,"but we are still taking legal actions against them, right?".

"Yes", Kate said sternly." She will be punished, there's no escaping that", her voice cold, with no mercy, even Felix couldn't help but flinch.

"Good", Andrew nodded.

"Make a second option that if she doesn't want to go to jail, she'll have to pay a fine", Kate said, playing with the tip of her hair, a wicked smile on her face.

"I like that, how much?".

"$10,000", Kate answered immediately.

"Hmmm", Andrew hummed. "Ok then I'll tell the lawyer to get on with it".

"Thanks Andrew", Kate said with a smile.

"You're welcome, and also tell Felix he did a great job".

"Sure I will", Kate said as she glanced at Felix before disconnecting the call.

Kate turned to face Felix, "thank you for what you did back there".

"It's my job Taylor", Felix answered with a brief smile.

"But you know I'd rather if you didn't show up and let the guards touch me".

"What?", Felix said shocked. "So she wanted to get hurt", he thought confused.

"Just forget it ", Kate shrugged. "It all still worked out how she wanted, even better", she thought.

Felix slowly nodded, still confused but later shrugged it off.

"I'll be going now Taylor '' Felix said and walked away while Kate headed to her car, getting in.

She dialed a number, and the person picked it on the first ring.“You've got it right?.....send it". Kate ended the call, a sly smile on her face.

"Now let the fun begin", she thought.

Meanwhile,

Rose sat on her luxurious office chair, staring at the paper in her hand in horror, blood drained from her face.

It wasn't long that Kate had left and Stacy helped her to her office, she received the papers from Kate's Lawyer.

It was clearly stated she was being sued for libel and attempted harassment, which was 2 years imprisonment.

She couldn't go to jail, her only option was paying the fine.

"$10,000!, that conniving bitch",Rose cursed, slamming her fist on the table. She didn't have a choice; she had to pay the fine.

Rose signed, defeatedly as she rubbed her forehead when she heard a knock on the door.

"Come in", she said tiredly.
