Chapter 2

I took a cab straight to the hospital.

The doctor called me into his office. "We've found a compatible donor kidney for Vivian. We need full payment by eight tomorrow morning. If you can't pay, the kidney will go to another patient."

In my past life, I had suffered endless humiliation just to beg my family for enough money to save Vivian.

This time, money wasn't a problem.

"All right. Move her to a private room and have your best surgeon operate on her."

The doctor hesitated. "The chief transplant surgeon charges a million dollars..."

I held up my phone and showed him that the full payment had already gone through.

The doctor stared at the screen in shock.

"Money isn't an issue. Schedule the surgery as soon as possible."

Once everything was settled, I went down to the parking garage. The Rolls-Royce I'd ordered online was already there. It was the newest model, with fewer than ten in the world. The salesman bowed and handed me the keys.

I drove home, went upstairs, and packed my journal and important documents.

I left everything else. I could easily buy whatever I needed later.

As I carried the box downstairs, I ran into Lilith and her maid.

"Where are you going, Nora?" Lilith asked, pretending to care.

I didn't even look at her. "None of your damn business. Move."

Lilith smirked and leaned closer. "Are you running away from home? Who in this family do you think actually cares about you?"

I scoffed and was about to snap back when she suddenly screamed. "What are you doing, Nora?!"

Then she threw herself down the stairs.

Oakley came running. He helped Lilith up, then spun toward me. "You've gone too far, Nora! I thought you were just rude, but you're actually cruel! How could you do this to your own sister?!"

I shrugged. "I didn't push her."

Lilith sobbed, her face full of hurt and fear. "I'm fine," she whispered. "I-it wasn't Nora who pushed me."

She claimed I was innocent, but the way she hesitated, half-terrified, told a different story. Who would believe me?

Oakley snapped, "If she didn't push you, what happened? Did you throw yourself down the stairs?"

I raised an eyebrow. Bingo.

Lilith said nothing. She just glanced at her maid, Hanna.

Hanna immediately jumped in. "I saw it all. Miss Nora pushed Miss Lilith! Miss Lilith, stop covering for her!"

I scoffed. "And I'm supposed to be guilty just because you said so? Where's the proof? I could just as easily say you pushed her!"

Hanna's face turned red. "That's a lie. Why would I push her?"

"Enough, Nora! Stop making excuses! Apologize to Lilith right now, or... what are you doing?!"

Before Oakley could finish, I kicked Lilith down the stairs.

This time, she couldn't even scream. Her face went white, and sweat covered her forehead.

I dusted off my hands and smiled. "See? That's what it looks like when I actually kick someone down the stairs."

"Host kicked the two-faced adopted daughter down the stairs. Mayhem Rating: four stars. Reward: ten million dollars!"

My eyes lit up. I got a reward for that too?

Oakley shook with rage. "You, you, how dare you..."

I gave him an innocent look. "I was just proving my innocence. If you hadn't kept accusing me, I wouldn't have kicked her.

"I won't take the blame for something I didn't do, but that doesn't mean I'm afraid to do it."

My eyes went cold. "Next time you see me, walk the other way."

I picked up my box and headed for the door.

Then an old, commanding voice rang out behind me. "Stop right there!"
