Adrian's Pov

“Nine hundred and ninety Nine” I went up and down“

One thousand” with a grunt I completed it,

The crowd erupted into cheers, “Go Alpha” they roared.

I took the towel from Drake, wiping my sweat as I walked out, ignoring the cheers and cat calls.

“Proud much?” A bored voice I would recognise anywhere called from behind.

“Nothing to be proud about Astra,” I replied.

“Really, I can literally smell the aura rolling off of you from miles back,” she scoffed.

“Never say never kid.” I replied, still walking on ahead, she followed till we got to office,

“You look like shit.” I said plainly,

“No kidding.” She slumped into the sofa, “Brenda and Brian are trying to send me to a fucking early grave,” groaned.

A chuckle escaped my lips, “Guess they took after their mother huh?”

She shot me a death glare, “What are you trying to say?”

“Nothing you don't already know.” I shrugged

“Oh please, If I disturbed my parents half the way I'm getting plowed daily by those two I wouldn't live to tell the story”

I shrugged, raising an eyebrow, “I like to see it as you reaping exactly what you sowed, besides you seem to forget that we grew up together.”

“Uggghhh, I just wish I could ship them off somewhere,”

“I'm not exactly sure how well Andrew will take to you shipping off his kids, and if they're gone do you plan on leaving my son without a beta?”

She rolled her eyes, “As if. Find yourself a mate first, then talk about a son.

”I chuckled, “Any new information?”

“Yes,” she sighed, her jaw tightening, “I heard Edgar plans on merging forces with the humans.”

“He hates humans” I said flatly,

“Yes. But these ones have succeeded in holding up a fight against him, he's stretched thin and if things continue no one can be too certain of the outcome, and he claims to want peace.

“And they believed? Fools.” I shook my head, “Edgar doesn't do peace and I'm willing to bet that there's something shady going on.”

“There is, but then again word is the little human leader” she handed me a photo, “Aurelia. She's in love with him,

”I found myself drawn into the photo of a woman probably 2ft shorter than me, short flowing hair, military overalls and pupils that called out to me, her pink plumpy lips were pressed thinly together

“This little thing started the rebellion against the wolves?”

“Careful Alpha, looks can be quite deceiving” I could hear the taunting in her voice.

“Shame. Falling for someone like Edgar,” I felt a tinge of pity for this stranger I didn't know, but everyone had their paths in life and this was probably hers.

“Will this Alliance affect us?” I asked an important question.

“Don't know, can't say for certain, but it's something worth keeping an eye on.” She mumbled, her brows creasing thoughtfully.

“Noted, I'll keep an eye on it.” I nodded, and what about the rest? How is the rebuilding going?

“The elders aren't happy, they want revenge Ad, and we have to give that. They're hurt, we all are.

” I pinched my brows together, “I understand them, but they have to exercise patience and caution, we're no longer what we used to be, I feel it in my bones, whatever that bastard and his witch did it was clearly meant to last for long”

“They know, they're just angry, they need a way to let off steam. Fair is fair, he reduced us to this, I have my plans, trust me.”

“I do. They do too, they're just anxious, and not to mention you need a Luna too.

” A particular face flashed through my mind at the mention of a Luna, “They need a hobby at this point, stop butting into my business.”

“Tell them yourself.” She shrugged, unbothered.

“I’ll prefer telling them to go fuck themselves, but we don't always get what we want now, do we?” A sigh escaped my lips.

“Whatever you say, I'll be going to check on how the rest of the folks are doing, you should get some rest too.”

“I will.” I nodded with a sigh, it hasn't been easy for my people since the betrayal, I understood their frustration, but for now, I would rather we thread carefully than clouded anger, and I had to go make sure this little alliance of theirs won't affect my plans.

“When will you return?” her pupils narrowed.

“Can't a man do anything without you knowing?”

“We've been joined at the hip since birth, it would be weird if that happened,” she pointed out.

“Fair enough, well if you must know, I'm only going to take a look. Make sure nothing that will affect us happens”

She gave me a look that said she didn't believe me, “And it has nothing to do with a certain picture I showed you some moments back?”

I nearly choked on nothing, “Stop thinking so low of me. I'm just going to check things out.” My voice was clear, I didn't even believe it myself.

“Whatever lets you sleep properly, but remember Adrian, we have a goal, a purpose to fight for, do not jeopardize it for a human.

” I rolled my eyes, holding back a comment as I watched her walk away, she had no idea of what she was talking about.

I merely just need to make sure that the bastard doesn't get any more opportunities to hurt my family and to see if I can get any useful information on how to get him.

I didn't buy for a minute that Edgar needed the human little leader, something was off and I was going to find out what.

With my mind made up and with a goal in mind, I set off towards the place that welcomed any wanderer that needed help.
