Chapter 3

I was rudely awakened by the blinding sunlight the next morning.

Gabriel hadn't returned home all night.

I turned on the monitoring app on my phone that was connected to all the pinhole cameras in the secret villa, and saw him wearing a pink apron while clumsily making breakfast in the kitchen on the screen.

Meanwhile, Isabelle was seated at the table. Her eyes were wrapped in thick bandages. The two-year-old pup kept calling Gabriel "Daddy" while clapping his hands and keeping himself amused on his own.

The picture-perfect family of three stung my eyes like a poisonous thorn.

I had suggested to Gabriel many times before that I wanted to have a pup of our own, but he always used excuses like being too busy with pack affairs or us still being too young to think about having pups.

As it turned out, it wasn't that he didn't want a pup of his own, but rather, he didn't want to have pups with me.

On the screen, I saw Isabelle setting down her fork as she nestled bonelessly in his arms, whimpering quietly.

"My eyes hurt so much, Alpha! I'm so indignant about this… What if Luna found out about our plans? What should we do next?"

Gabriel kissed the bandages on her head. His eyes turned ruthless and sinister as he said, "Don't worry, Bella. I've already arranged everything for you.

"Eleanor loves surprises, doesn't she? I'm just going to give her the biggest surprise of her lifetime that she'll never forget."

Isabelle immediately followed up with, "You mean…"

Gabriel cackled coldly and said, "The day we mark our new territory is coming next week. I'm going to take Eleanor with me to the border, near Alpha Kael's territory.

"After all, it's simply too easy for 'accidents' to happen in places like that…

"I'm going to arrange for some trustworthy Rogues to pose as wolves from Kael's pack and attack our convoy. And when things get chaotic, destroying her eyes will be nothing but a piece of cake!

"In fact, I can even injure her even more severely if I want to—perhaps I'll just destroy her wolf while I'm at it. That way, she'll be even more dependent on me," Gabriel said slyly.

"As long as she's blind and disabled, she will forever have to depend on me for the rest of her life and believe every single word I say. Then, she will obediently and willingly look after Leon for us, making him her only emotional support."

I couldn't bear to listen to them anymore and turned off the monitor after that. I was trembling non-stop.

Instead, I called Kael immediately and told him everything about Gabriel's plan, even sending him a copy of the video recording I'd taken just now.

I said, "Since he plans on using your name to carry out his plan, we might as well take advantage of it and play along with him.

"I want to completely free myself from him that day and make him pay the heaviest price possible for what he's planning to do."

Kael whistled on the other end of the line, sounding a little excited as he said, "What a brilliant plan, using someone else's name to carry out the dirty work instead. I like it.

"Don't worry. I'll make sure everything is prepared for you."

"I'm going to make Gabriel pay the price for it all!"
