Chapter 4

作者: Crashing Waves
It was soon the day to mark the new territory.

Gabriel returned home beaming. He was holding a diamond-encrusted necklace, and he put it around my neck with an apologetic expression.

"I'm sorry, my Luna, for neglecting you lately because I was busy investigating the source of the silver dust in the jewelry box."

I stroked the cold diamonds on my neck as a cold smile played on my lips.

Was he really investigating the source?

Or was he busy sleeping with that lowly Omega every single day, as clearly seen on camera?

Still, I maintained my facade of gentleness and said, "It's fine. I know that you're just doing this for my sake."

Gabriel seemed very satisfied with my understanding, and his eyes reflected it.

He seized the opportunity and said, "Let's go to the border together next week and mark our new territory. The view there is just breathtaking, and it would also be a good way for you to relax and take your mind off all the unpleasant things that happened."

I pretended to think about it for a while. Then, I nodded obediently and said, "Alright, whatever you say."

A glint of triumph flashed in his eyes at what I said.

Our convoy was fully prepared on the day we were supposed to depart for the border. However, Gabriel's expression changed as soon as it was time to set out.

"The Elders just informed me that I need to go and handle a very troublesome internal dispute at once. I'm going to have to set out a little later.

"You can lead the convoy along the planned route first. I'll go there and meet you as soon as I'm done here."

I watched his horrible acting and immediately understood that he was just creating a perfect alibi for himself.

So, I smiled back at him and nodded. "Alright. I'll be waiting for you at the border, then."

The convoy slowly started moving, heading toward the death trap he had meticulously designed and set up for me.

When the convoy reached the narrow canyon section he specified, a pack of ferocious-looking "Rogues" suddenly sprang out at us from the surrounding dense foliage.

Just as the pack warriors panicked and prepared to fight, a huge black wolf figure suddenly descended from the sky and tore the Rogue leader into shreds.

It was Kael.

He then led his elite Frostmoon Pack warriors to quickly get rid of the "actors" Gabriel had arranged for us. Then, he walked up to me and handed me a bottle of magical potion that gleamed with a ghostly blue light.

"Ready? It's going to hurt a lot after drinking it. You will suffer from the agony of your soul being torn apart, but from this day onward, you will be completely free from your bond."

I didn't hesitate and threw my head back, drinking every last drop of the potion.

At once, a violent burning sensation instantly swept through my body, and it felt as though my internal organs were being plunged into molten lava.

Deep within my soul, my mate-bond with Gabriel, which had connected us for five years, was forcibly torn apart as ripped away by a powerful force.

I bit my lip hard, refusing to make a sound as I let the sweet, metallic taste of blood spread in my mouth.

In the meantime, Gabriel was lying in Isabelle's bed in the villa, far away in the capital of Eclipse Pack's territory. They were celebrating the success of their plan prematurely by getting passionately entangled with each other.

Just as he was about to reach his climax, Gabriel suddenly felt as if his heart was being crushed by an invisible hand. The excruciating pain caused him to scream aloud in agony.

Suddenly, he spat out a mouthful of blood, staining Isabelle's pale skin.

She was terrified by the sudden turn of events and let out an ear-piercing scream.

Gabriel then clutched his chest and collapsed heavily onto the bed, convulsing in agony.

Then, he was horrified to discover that the mate-bond connecting him to me, his mate, was breaking inch by inch until it vanished completely.

I finally endured the entire ordeal of the excruciating pain in the canyon.

I wiped away the blood on my lips and felt the unprecedented joy and freedom from my wolf.

Turning to Kael, I smiled genuinely at him for the first time since my rebirth and said, "It's finally over."

You still don't even know who your real opponents are."He spat out a mouthful of bloody froth, and his eyes were filled with mockery and satisfaction."Nobody told me to do this. Everything I did was to repay Luna Eleanor's kindness.
