Calla's POV

Shortly after my time with my mate, I headed straight to the infirmary.

Finding a witch could not wait and the only one who could help was Marla. When I entered, the room was bright but it felt cold to me.

Lydia stood near one of the beds, mixing whatever it was inside a bowl while two other attendants were nearby whispering as they worked.

Lydia looked up when she saw me.

“Lady Calla, you are back again.” She said kindly.

“Yes, I need to speak to Marla.”

Lydia glanced toward the

Lucien's POV I was on my way to the infirmary when I saw Calla coming out of it. She was walking fast with her head high and her face hard like stone. Her eyes did not look at me. Not even for a second.“Calla,” I called but she did not answer. She just walked past me as if I was not there. I turned and watched her go with confident strides. She looked like someone who had made up her mind about something and that frightened me. I looked up and sighted Lydia and the two attendants with my side eyes. They were watching me as their eyes were fixed in my direction. I breathed and walked up to them since they were close to the infirmary. “Alpha Lucien,” Lydia said and bowed her head. “Good day, my lord,” the attendants said together.“Good day,” I replied and looked past them into the infirmary.“Is Marla awake?” I asked. “Yes. She is resting but she is awake.” Lydia answered.I nodded and went inside. Marla smirked when she saw me.“Oh. You are here. I thought as much.” Marla ha

Marla was awake and her eyes were opened as they landed on me.“I want to speak to her alone,” Lydia hesitated. “Is everything all right?”“Yes. I just need a private word with her.”She studied my face for a moment, then nodded. She clicked her fingers together and immediately, the attendants left what they were doing and walked out of the room. Lydia was the last to leave so she closed the door behind her.The room became quiet. And Marla smile

  • Reborn as the Alpha’s regret    Chapter 92: Romance Moments

Lucien's POV Despite agreeing to get words out of Marla, Calla didn't look good.I was troubled the moment I looked at Calla and saw that she was not herself. She stood in front of my desk, but her eyes were not on me.They were lost somewhere far away. Her hands were clasped together tightly as if she was holding herself in one piece. Her shoulders looked tense and her breathing was so loud that I could hear them. She looked really worried and confused. And it hurt me more than any sound I had taken in battle. I did not want this for her. This was what I was trying to avoid, that I had to keep things from her in the first place.I had promised myself that I would protect her from fear and I had sworn that she would not carry this pain alone. Yet, here she was, standing in my office, shaking with thoughts.Fenric and Ulric were still in the room. They stood near the door, waiting for my next order. I turned to them, slowly.“Leave us,” I said. They both looked at Calla, then back a

Calla's POVI stared at Ulric as his words settled inside my chest and got registered by my brain. My hands were cold and my heart was beating so loud that I could hear them in my ears. I swallowed and asked. “What did you mean by that, Father?” What do you mean by my dream?”Ulric took a slow breath, his shoulders rising and falling. “What you saw wasn't just a dream, Calla,” he let out a sharp sign. “It was a reach. A call.”“A call?” I repeated and so did Lucien. “A call from Willow?”He nodded. “Yes. Some wolves are born with a rare gift. We call it the Soul Reach.” Lucien's head snapped up. “Soul Reach?” He asked, looking surprised and I could tell he was shocked too. “That is old talk. That power is not common and those that had it were extincted.”I watched as Ulric met his eye. “Yes, it is not common but it is real. And maybe they had all gone into extinction but Calla's dream is no other than the Soul Reach.” Ulric protested and continued. “The Soul Reach allows a wolf to t

Lucien's POV I looked at Fenric sharply, my eyes expression warning him to stop right there, to hold his tongue and to remember what I had told him.Fenric understood. He broke his gaze from mine and looked down to the floor again but his jaw looked tight as he wasn't pleased with me stopping him. Yet, the word he was about to say died in his throat. Calla turned back to me. Her eyes were bright… not with fear… but they were bright with anger.“Lucien. Why? Why are you doing this to me? Marla was right.”Her voice was not loud but it cut deeper than shouting. But how was I supposed to tell her what Marla had told me, about Willow hating me. How was I supposed to tell her that Willow's life was in danger because she was the most powerful child in our lands? How was I supposed to tell her that Willow can be used against us… against her? How was I supposed to tell her that we might have to fight against Willow if it came to that? How was I supposed to?I bit down my teeth, unable to

  • Reborn as the Alpha’s regret    Chapter 89: Tension.

Calla's POVI Stormed out of the infirmary with my heart racing and my thoughts burning like fireMarla words would not leave my head.‘Lucien had been lying to you despite the fact he had been pressuring me. He kept secrets from you, Calla.’I walked fast through the halls, my boots creating sounds as they collided with the floor. Even the guards I met did not do too much. They must have noticed the look on my face. They just greeted me and stepped aside… and me… I did not greet them back and I did not slow down.Willow's face came to my mind. Her small hands, her cry and my chest hurt as if something was tearing it from my inside. Even just remembering the dream I had was enough to disturb me. “He knew she was my daughter,” I whispered to myself. “He knew and he still kept all that from me.”If Lucien had indeed made plans without me, then he had chosen to walk this road without my voice. And that thought alone made my anger rise higher.I walked faster, my legs pushing me even be
