ARIA

Trenton's dorm room felt like the only quiet place left in the whole world. The council hall, the whispers, Corwin's cold eyes, all of it stayed outside the door when he closed it behind us. He dropped onto his bed with a tired sigh and patted the space next to him.

"Come here," he said. "Before I fall asleep sitting up."

I sat down next to him and pulled my knees up to my chest. The blanket under me smelled like him, warm and a little like pine soap. For a second I just let myself breathe

ARIATrenton's dorm room felt like the only quiet place left in the whole world. The council hall, the whispers, Corwin's cold eyes, all of it stayed outside the door when he closed it behind us. He dropped onto his bed with a tired sigh and patted the space next to him."Come here," he said. "Before I fall asleep sitting up."I sat down next to him and pulled my knees up to my chest. The blanket under me smelled like him, warm and a little like pine soap. For a second I just let myself breathe."So," Trenton said, turning to look at me with a small smile pulling at one corner of his mouth. "Amber Wolf. First bloodline. Terrifying prophecy girl. What else can you do?"I laughed, even though I didn't feel like laughing a few minutes ago. "I don't know. Nobody gave me a manual.""Well, let's test something," he said. "Elder Marlow mentioned that the first bloodline could always tell when someone was lying. Some kind of truth sense."My stomach did a small flip. "You want to test that? O

  • Reborn for my Step brother   Chapter 88

ARIABy the time I stepped out of the cabin the next morning, the news had already spread through the whole estate like wildfire through dry grass. I could feel it the second I walked down the main hallway. Two servants carrying folded linens stopped talking the moment they saw me, their eyes going wide before they quickly looked away and hurried past. Further down, a group of younger pack members stood near a window, whispering fast, and when I passed them one girl actually gasped out loud and grabbed her friend's arm."That's her," I heard one boy whisper, not even bothering to lower his voice enough. "That's the one who turned into the Amber Wolf.""My mom said she glowed in the dark," another voice added. "Like she was on fire."I kept walking, my face carefully calm even though my stomach twisted with every whisper. Trenton walked close beside me, his hand brushing mine like he wanted to remind me he was there."They're all staring," I muttered."Let them stare," he said quietly.

  • Reborn for my Step brother   Chapter 87

ARIAI sat wrapped in a thick blanket on the edge of the bed, my knees pulled up to my chest, staring at nothing. My body was human again, but it didn't feel fully mine anymore. Every few seconds my mind replayed the same pictures, fur pushing through my skin, my spine bending wrong, those glowing amber eyes staring back at me from the dark window. My hands shook a little even though the cabin was warm.Trenton sat close beside me, one arm wrapped around my shoulders, not saying much, just letting me breathe. The fire had burned low, casting soft orange light across the floor. Outside, the night was quiet except for the wind brushing against the windows.A soft knock came at the door.Trenton stood up fast, moving between me and the entrance without even thinking about it. "Who is it?""It's me," came an old, careful voice. "Elder Marlow. I need to speak with Aria. Now, if she's able."Trenton glanced back at me. I nodded, even though my stomach twisted with nerves. He opened the door

ARIAThe ache started deep in my bones, right where the strange new heaviness had settled a moment before. At first I thought I was just tired, worn out from everything that had happened between us. But the ache grew sharper every second, until it stopped feeling like tiredness at all and started feeling like fire moving slowly under my skin."Trenton," I gasped. My back curved forward without me telling it to, my whole body folding around the pain like I was trying to protect something inside me."Aria!" His hands grabbed my shoulders, and his voice cracked with fear. "What's wrong? Did I hurt you? Talk to me!""I don't know," I choked out. "It hurts. It hurts so bad, Trenton, but it's not you, I promise it's not you."He held onto me, his face pale and terrified in the firelight, and I could see him trying to figure out what to do, his eyes darting over my body looking for some kind of wound he could fix. There was nothing to see. The pain wasn't coming from outside. It was coming f

  • Reborn for my Step brother   Chapter 85

ARIAI pushed the wooden door closed behind us and turned the lock with fingers that would not stop shaking. This small room at the back of the old gardener’s cottage had become ours over the past weeks. No one from the pack ever came here. Thick curtains covered the windows. A single soft lamp glowed on the table beside the narrow bed. The air smelled like clean sheets and the faint scent of the pine trees outside. In this quiet place we could finally stop pretending.Trenton stood near the bed watching me. The look in his eyes was the same one he always wore when we were alone—surprised, careful, and full of the same deep want that lived in my own chest. Months of supporting each other through pain and fear, of pulling away because of guilt, of wanting something we both thought we were never allowed to have, filled the space between us until it felt hard to breathe.“Are you sure about tonight?” he asked in a low voice. He kept his injured shoulder still against his side. “We can wa

MAYAI walked into the disciplinary committee office with my hands shaking. Ever since the necklace thing exploded around campus and my grades got questioned, I had to sit through meeting after meeting just to prove I still deserved to stay in school. I hated every second of it. People stared at me in the hallway like I was some kind of criminal. I kept my chin up anyway, because that was the only thing I had left. The waiting room was small and cold. I sat down on a hard plastic chair and stared at the floor. My stomach hurt the way it always did before these meetings. I expected another suspicious face, another person ready to catch me in a lie.Instead a guy walked out from the back office holding a folder. He looked a little older than me, maybe a graduate student, with messy brown hair and kind eyes behind his glasses."Maya Frost?" he asked, checking his paper."That's me," I said quietly."I'm Adrian. I'm helping with academic appeals this semester." He smiled, and it looked re

Aria“Not today, Tristan,” I muttered once I stepped out of the locker room. “Your brother will not die in my hands again.”Looking around to make sure that the coast was clear, I reached for the poison inside my bra, twisted the lid open, and stared at the dark liquid. The sharp smell of herbs—bur

AriaThe first thing I noticed once I stepped inside the locker room wasn't his fake smile or his scheming eyes that hinted that he thought he had me wrapped around his tiny fingers.No.The first thing I noticed… was the mate bond between us. It was no longer as strong as it used to be.In my prev

Aria.“You… poisoned me…” I whispered, feeling a coil wrapping around me tightly, suffocating me.I slumped on the floor, blood already dripping down my mouth and nose.“Of course.” He laughed coldly, staring down at me like I was something unworthy. “You really believed that I was going to have so
