WILLOW
Violet and I are returning from cheerleading practice when I decide to stop at the frat house.
“Just for a minute,” I hooked my arm around my best friend’s, tugging her into the Omega house. “I left my economics notebook at Theo’s last night and want to get it back.”
“Right.” Violet rolls her eyes, not believing me for one second. “You and I both know you’re dying to make out with your boyfriend. Just, hurry up. Try not to leave me hanging for too long.”
Violet waits in the foyer. The hockey frat house usually comes alive at night. In the mornings, it mainly comprises of girls doing the walk of shame and guys dragging their feet towards the kitchen for coffee.
I bound up the stairs, excitement blossoming in my chest at the thought of seeing my boyfriend. I’d been unable to attend last night’s party because I had to study for a test. After the test; there was cheerleading practice. The entire time, I’d been missing my boyfriend.
Now, I’m here.
I push the door open, expecting to see him playing call of duty. But he isn’t playing call of duty.
Right there, on the mattress, is Theo, ramming his cock into some blonde chick’s pussy. Her back view looks familiar. The sound of the door opening causes Theo to pause. When he sees who’s standing there, he yelps and pushes the blonde off his dick. She squirms, hitting the mattress quite roughly.
It’s Tessa. From the cheerleading squad.
She’d opted out of practice today, claiming to be sick. Is this what she was up to? Screwing my boyfriend?
“W-Willow,” Theo’s already getting out of bed, scrambling to put his briefs on. “It’s not what it looks like. I c-can explain.”
Is he for real? What is there to explain?
I grip the doorknob tightly, reeling in the urge to ram my fist into his face.
“I came here because I wanted to spend some quality time with you.” I scoff, shaking my head in disbelief. “I can’t believe you’re cheating on me, with some cheap skank from the cheerleading team.”
“Hey bitch. Who are you calling a cheap skank.” Tessa pushes her weight onto her knees, gathering the sheets around her. “Listen closely—“
“Quiet,” Theo hissed, turning around to glare at her. “You’re not making this any easy.”
“Oh please,” Tessa rolls her eyes. “You’re the one who’s planning to break up with her any day now. What does it matter what I say?”
Theo visibly swallows. I don’t wait to hear anymore. I walk towards his desk and grab his PlayStation. I push the window open and hurl it out. It’s satisfying to hear it crack against the pavement. Next, I grab his laptop and fling it out the window as well. I’m reaching for his phone and tablet, when he seizes my wrist.
He spins me around and both gadgets go crashing to the carpet.
“Hey! What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” Theo glowers, looking like he wants to shake me. “I bought that PlayStation a week ago. Do you have any idea how much it fucking costs?”
“You should have thought about your precious PlayStation before you decided to fucking cheat on me.”
“So, I cheated. What’s the big deal?” Out of the corner of my eye, I see Tessa getting dressed, slithering back into her skimpy dress. “For fuck’s sake Willow, you pull shit like this and yet, you wonder why I cheated.”
“Are you seriously trying to gaslight me right now? How is your unfaithfulness my fault?”
“Because you’re a fucking nutjob.” He tightens his grip on my wrist, enunciating each word for maximum effect. “Now, I’m wondering how in hell I dated you for so long.” He let go of me and I waste no time slapping him across his face. It’s obvious he wasn’t expecting it. Tessa gasps and I flip her off, kicking the door as I storm out of the room.
I make my way downstairs and I see Violet, lazing on the couch, waiting for me. She shoots up to her feet when she spots me. Her eyes widen as she stares at something behind me.
It’s Theo. He’s followed me.
“Willow. Let’s talk about this.” He grips my arm, spinning me around. His voice must have sounded too loud because some of his hockey brothers are already gathering around the foyer, listening in on our fight.
“There’s nothing to talk about. We’re done.” I twist my arm, trying to get away from his hold. “Let go of me.”
“I agree. I made a mistake. Are you seriously going to throw away our entire relationship because I fucked another girl?”
“Yes,” I grind my teeth angrily. “I thought we were going steady. You’re the one who said you wanted us to be exclusive. And now what? You go behind my back and fuck someone else?”
“I’m a guy,” he explodes, spitting the words in my face. “What the fuck am I supposed to do when you don’t put out as much as I expect you to?”
“What?” I stiffen, going cold all over. “What did you just say to me?”
“You heard me.” He lets go of my arm and points his finger in my face. At this point, we’ve got a full house listening in on our mortifying conversation. “You only want to fuck when it fits your schedule and when it does happen, it’s boring. Nothing about sexing you excites me Willow. And you wonder why I cheated.”
Fuck.
This is bad. I can’t bring myself to look at anyone. They are all probably laughing at me right now. Whispering.
Willow the prude.
Willow the boring lay.
Willow who can’t keep a man to save her life.
“You know what? Fine. Let’s break up.” Theo takes a step backwards, away from me. “I know for a fact I won’t be missing out on anything— definitely not your lackluster sexual skills.”
He’s smiling, mocking me with that condescending look. I feel Violet’s fingers slip into mine. I do not remember her leading me out of the Omega house. Do not remember getting home. All I can think of is my reputation.
Theo Spencer fucking cheated on me and ruined my fucking reputation, all in one go.
WILLOW“Whoa. Vincent. Stop the car!” I call out to him in a panic, leaning forward.Next to me, Ginny sits up straighter. “What’s wrong Willow?”I don’t answer her. I just point out the window. She must have seen what I’d seen a few moments ago because she gasps in shock. “Oh my gods. Is that Tessa? What the fuck?”Vincent has already brought the car to a halt. He kills the engine and turns around to look at me. “Is everything okay, miss Thompson?”“No,” I grimace, gesturing for him to look out the window, to where Tessa is currently being slammed against a dirty alley wall. There are three guys surrounding her. They’ve got her cornered on all sides and they seem to be roughing her up pretty badly.I don’t need to be close enough to the action to know that she’s bleeding.“We have to do something,” I declare, not quite sure about what I plan to do. “We have to help her. They are hurting her pretty badly. Vincent!”“Forgive me miss Thompson but you can’t get involved.” Vincent takes h
WILLOWI have been having nightmares. Strange dreams where I’m being haunted. In my dreams, I am always running away from some faceless dark force and every single time, I end up underground, in a dark room, akin to a basement. Creepy as hell.Having these dreams have been sucking the strength out of my bones. They’ve definitely been a distraction, especially with all the exams I have to prep for. I’ve got no papers to write today, and so I call Ginny and set up a meeting. She’s the only person I feel comfortable with, enough to talk about my nightmares. And that’s because I know she would have the right words to say. Hopefully an interpretation. Perhaps some potion I could take to keep the demons at bay. At least until exams are done with.“I’m glad you called,” Ginny slips into the seat across from mine. We are at a milkshake spot, that sells the most delicious milkshakes on campus. They also sell ice cream cones and there’s quite a large variety of flavours to choose from.I had d
AIDENI know he’s here for me. He’s definitely one of Greg Spencer’s lackeys. It’s there in the ten thousand dollar suit. In the way he carries himself as he saunters towards me.I’ve already had a shitty last couple of hours. I’m not in the mood to pretend like I care about the trials. Certainly not in the mood to be patronizing either.“Aiden Cross,” he stops in front of me, reeking of money and cigarette smoke. “How was your meeting with the hockey board?”How does he know about that?“If this is about the trials, might as well head back to headquarters. I’ve had a long day. I don’t need to put up with this shit.” I walk past him, bumping into his shoulder. “I’m afraid I can’t.” He falls into step next to me. “The first phase of the trials is in a few days and we have to bring you up to speed on everything you need to know.”“I don’t care.” Everything I care about is currently being reviewed before a board of snotty boardmen. I go to open the door and he grabs my fist. He’s strong
AIDENIt is officially exam week. One of the biggest hockey games of the season is coming up. I’ve finally been approved to appear before the hockey board. Coach accompanies me without being asked. I think he just feels sorry for me. Deep down, he must view the whole dismissal stunt as unfair.“Whatever you do, don’t try to argue or speak out of turn.” He straightens my tie. We are both in the hallway, waiting to be called and ushered into the board room. The hallway is cold. It unnerves the shit out of me, but I like to think that I’m doing a rather spectacular job, hiding the way I truly feel.“Yeah, I know.” I clear my throat. “Don’t worry coach. I’m good.”“You said you’ve built a case based on the ‘Just Cause’ clause?” he asks. But it’s one of those questions that doesn’t require me to give an answer. Afterall, I already sent a softcopy of my case to him for review. “I’ve reviewed the case file you sent. If you just stick to the script, you’ll be fine. I’ll say it again, no outbur
ROWAN’S POVA drinking game. That’s my suggestion. Thanks to the wine I had brought along with me— magically enhanced by another one of Mitch’s special spells—the double date crew gets drunk in only a matter of minutes.I take great pleasure in watch them fall under the influence of my special brew. We’re playing the guessing game, having moved the party to the living room. Aiden is currently trying to do an impression of a comedian while Willow tries to guess what it is. It is truly the most annoying sight. And then, there’s Violet. Now that everyone thinks we’re a couple, she sits next to me, resting her head on my shoulder. I fight the urge to push her away. Hold still. Pretend to be interested in the fun. Smile at the right moments. Willow finally guesses right. At this point, everyone is too tired to continue the game. Fatigue is another side effect of the wine. I watch as Willow cuddles up with Aiden on the sofa. She yawns. “Tonight has truly been lovely. We should have anot
WILLOWThe house smells like delicious food. The lasagna is already out of the oven and it looks incredible. I join Violet in the kitchen and together, we set up the counter with plates and wine glasses. I’d suggested regular beer but Violet is on a mission to impress her new guy tonight.“We’re having red wine with dinner,” she says, pulling out a bottle from the pack she’d brought along with her.“Wow,” I eye the bottle of red wine. “If only Rowan knows how you’re pulling all the stops for this dinner date.”“The goal is to win some extra points.” She winks at me. “Hopefully, we’ll be a couple before the night is over.”Aiden enters the kitchen just then. He’s dressed down in a T-shirt and denims, yet he still manages to look like a model, featuring in a jeans ad. “So, I just got off the phone with Rowan. He’s almost here.”“Oh my gods,” Violet dries her hands on her apron. “Okay everyone. Act calm. This is just a double date. It’s not a big deal.”“If there’s anyone who needs to st

WILLOWI wake up to the sound of my phone buzzing. At first, I think it’s just my alarm but it’s not. Tate Mccrae blasts at full volume and Violet groans in her sleep.“Ugh! Willow. Will you answer that already?” She grunts. “Some of us are trying to sleep here.”Blindly, I search for my phone, dis
WILLOW“Willow!” The best phrase to describe Jane Keller is “cunt licker.” She’s the kind of girl that would do anything to get in Tessa’s good graces. Rumor has it that she’s being in love with Tessa since freshman year. That’s got to be the reason why she’s so devoted to her.If she’s trying to t
