Milena. She has a way of keeping me on edge when nothing else or no one else has that effect on me; I don’t know what she’ll do next; it was one of the things I like about her, but right now I’m not enjoying it. Her sly smiles that tell me she’s up to something and the way she hugs Mom and tells her she’s up for the lunch date mom wants to have with her Sia and Kaia makes me more than a little paranoid.

The evening has gone by, and we will be leaving soon. I’ve just gone to do a final check on security before our departure. I didn’t want to talk to Uncle today, not about Milena.

I return to the group in time to see her complimenting Mom on her beauty as they stand and talk, and I have to admit the evening went better than I expected it to.

“We’ll leave soon,” I tell Milena before looking at Sia as I step back. ‘Can I have a word with you alone?’

‘What is it? You can just ask me through the mind-link,’ Sia responds, her eyes fixed on Kaia, who is speaking avidly.
