The day of church I went back to my office to figure out my next step. The first thing I did was put my wedding ring back on. As soon as I did it felt right. Like a piece of a puzzle fitting into place. I just needed one more piece to feel whole. Next I know I needed to know more about my wife. I remember she said she was a champion skater. So I could just look her up but that didn’t feel right. I needed to talk to her but that wasn’t going to happen just yet. I doubt I would make it in the door. And there were other things I needed to do. I called Merigold and after convincing her not to hang up on me she agreed to gather the ol’e ladies at her house for me to talk to them.
By the time I was done with Merigold Ace and the brothers had come to a decision. I had to step down for a month. Ace and Thor would share the responsibility until then. I accepted it. I deserved worse. I could have lost my patch permanently. And it gave me time to focus on Sabine. My wife. The more I said and thought about it the more I liked the sound. Sabine Adams. It has a nice ring to it. After my punishment was handed to me I went to talk to Claire. It isn’t what you think. I unintentionally put her in Merigold’s line of fire.
I needed to apologize to her. I sat her down at the bar and explained everything that happened. I also told her that since I am married I will not be fucking with her or any other skanks. From the time I decided to pursue my wife I will be faithful to her. I told Claire I would clear things up with Merigold so she wouldn’t have to be scared anymore. Claire forgave me and wished me good luck.
Then I faced the old ladies and Anna at Merigold’s house. I have to tell you. I was scared. Merigold, Speed and Ailee could d o some seriously fuck me up if they wanted to. I stood in the living room surrounded by all them glaring at me. I told them the whole truth. I didn’t leave anything out. When I was done I stood and waited for them to say something. Anything. Yell. Scream. But they just watched me for a few minutes. Finally Speed speaks up “ So what are you going to do now?” I look around at all the girls that have become part of my family over the years. Anna has been like a mother. The girls are my sisters. I smile and say “ I’m going to fight for my wife.”
Anna leans back in her chair and crosses her arms over her chest “ And how are you going to do that? I have never seen Sabine this angry or hurt before.” she said. I stuff my hands into my pockets. “ I was hoping you would help me. Tell me what you know about Sabine. Interest, hobbies, pets. Anything that might help me win Sabine over.” I said. Merigold looked at me,“ Would could help you but I think this is something you need to do on your own.” Anna nods “ Merigold is right. We could tell you everything we know about Sabine. But that would be the easy way. You need to do this on your own. You made this mess, you need to fix this. You won’t truly win Sabine over if we help.” As much as I hate to admit it, they are right.
I need to win Sabine on my own. I know it will be hard but I’m a Renegade and we don’t give up just because it got rough. And I won’t give up on something I want. Or in this case someone. Sabine. Anna smiles “ But I will give you a few tips. Sabine values honesty. She hates cheaters. Her career is very important to her and she values family above everything else. And that includes all of Casper’s crew.” That brings up another question. “ Anna, can you tell me how Sabine got involved with the Red Devils in the first place? If Casper is willing to drop our alliance over this then I know Sabine is really important to him.” I asked.
“ That isn’t my story to tell. I will tell you this. If you think you and Merigold are close. You two have nothing on Casper and Sabine. Casper has been by Sabine’s side since birth. Literally. So you are going to have to get past him as well.” Anna said. There is a story there. But I know I won’t get answers out of Anna. I need to go to the source. “ Thank you Anna.” I said. The girls told me it would take them a little time to forgive me. But they had my back and wished me good luck. And I’m going to need it. In order to win my girl, I needed to go to the source.
That is where I am now. The ice rink. I have been pacing outside the door for five minutes. I have been so nervous in my life. I am pretty sure Sabine won’t talk to me yet. Hell, I don’t even know if she is here. But I’m hoping. Being here I can at least get a glimpse of her world. Find out more about her than what I might find on the internet. I haven’t looked her up yet but I figure if she is a champion she would be there. But that isn’t how I want to do this.
I man up and open the door. So far no one has stopped me. But I know there are Red Devils all over the place. I’m standing in a large entryway. Up ahead of me is a set of double doors I’m guessing leads to the rink arena. I look down to my right and I see a hallway with several doors that must be offices and supply rooms maybe. But the entryway is what I can’t take my eyes off. The room is wall to wall trophy cases and pictures. I go to the first case. Every trophy and metal were dated and has a picture in front of it. The first one I see is a second place metal. I look at the picture and read that it is Dax, Nixon and Sabine. Dax is Casper’s real name. In the picture Sabine can’t be more than five or six years old.
I go down the line looking at it all. It is very impressive. It shows the progress of Sabine’s career. I’m not even halfway through and I’m seriously impressed at all my wife has accomplished. What I pay attention to is the pictures of Sabine. They all have her what I assume are her parents and Nixon. Aside from that I see Casper in everyone. And as Sabine hit her teens members of the Red Devils joined in the pictures. Anna wasn’t kidding when she said the Devils and Casper were a big part of Sabine’s life. I even saw a picture of Sabine’s high school and college graduations. The Devils were there. I’m going to have to make it right by them or I will never get close to Sabine or get her to accept me.
I go to the double doors and head down the steps. I see the rink in front of me. I look and see several Devils walking around. I get to half way down and stop to just watch. I hear over the speaker “ Skater on the ice.” And see a door open in the wall across the rink and a figure comes out. I want to get a closer look. I’m almost to the wall and I see Rocket sitting on the wall. Can’t miss her. She is the only female patched member I have ever seen. She is a rarity but she earned her place. The girl is bad ass and scary. I have mad respect for her.
“ I got your music girl. Don’t worry.” Rocket says. Who is she talking to? I get closer and see she is holding a tablet in her hand and I see a white earpiece. I see the person on the ice shake their head and Rocket laughs. I hear music start to play and the skater glides across the ice. From this distance I can tell the skater is short but that is all I can make out other than the hoodie they are wearing. I see Nixon about ten feet away but his focus is on a tablet.” Remember this is a light warm up.” he says. He must have an earpiece too. The song ends and I hear Nixon say “ Short program before Isacc hits the ice. Then you can do a quick warm up with him.” “ I got one for you.” Rocket says.
The music starts and I pay attention to the skater. I can’t help it. The moves are mesmerizing. At one point they are skating backwards before they leap into the air and spin twice before landing gracefully on the ice. During the spin their hood fell down and I saw streaks of blue and purple in their hair. The skater is Sabine. Wow. “ New skater on the ice.” I see a guy come from the door in the wall and skate around. “ Rocket, give them a fun one to warm up to.” Nixon says. Rocket laughs “ I have the perfect one. Pixie needs a little ass shaking.” I hear laughs from all directions. It must be the other Devils. Do they all have earpieces?
I watch the ice. I’m lucky so far no one has noticed me. But it is pretty dark in here. The music plays and now Sabine and the other skater look like they are dancing on the ice. “ Yea, shake it for me.” Rocket says. I see Sabine throw up her middle finger but shake her ass in Rocket's direction. Rocket cracks up laughing “ You know you love me.”
“ Alright you two. Time to get serious. Short program. Give it all you got.” Nixon says. They skate side by side for a minute before Isaac grabs Sabine’s hand. I see her drop close to the ice, her legs stretched out and he spins them both in a circle with Sabine’s skates on the ice. “ Pull out and lift.” Nixon says. I get it he is giving them instructions. They come out of the spin and Isacc lifts Sabine lengthwise in the air above his head. Sabine is stiff as a board as Isacc spins around in a tight circle. “ Keep your hands on her neck and waist.” Nixon said. The move looks effortless but I know it's anything but.
“ You have to have balls as big as bowling balls to be here.” Rocket says. I look over and see she is looking right at me. “ Hey Rocket. I just want to talk to Sabine.” I said. Rocket laughs and turns to face me fully “ Do you think after everything you put her through that any of us are going to let you get close to her?” Before I can respond I hear a booming voice say “ Unless you have brought signed papers. You need to leave. This is a closed practice and I will not let you interfere with that.” Ice why am I not surprised.
“ I didn’t sign them. I just want a chance to talk to Sabine, Ice.” I said turning towards him. “ The only thing you need to do is sign those papers and let Pixie get on with her life.” Ice says, turning his head and stares at Sabine. “ Let her find someone more worthy of her. Some who can love her the way she deserves. And would never cheat on someone as perfect as her.” Ice says. I see the way he is looking at her and I don’t like it. It isn’t how a brother looks at a sister. It is a look I have seen on several of my brothers when they look at their ol’e ladies. Lust, love and desire. It dawns on me.
I turn to Ice and say “ You want her for yourself.” Ice turns his attention back to me and motions for me to follow him. I don’t want to disturb Sabin’s practice so I follow him. We get out into the entryway. Ice growls out “ You need to get those papers signed and stay the fuck away from Pixie.” “ And you need to stay the fuck away from my wife.” I growl. “ Your wife?” Ice laughs. “ You never treated her like a wife. She deserves better than you.” “ Like who? You?” I ask. “ You are damn right. As soon as you sign, she is free. I’m claiming Sabine as mine. I know Sabine, she won’t move forward until you sign. Unlike you she takes her vows seriously. But I will wait as long as it takes to make her mine. She is worth it.” Ice says.
The idea of Sabine with anyone else pisses me off and Ice is standing there telling me he is going to claim what is mine. Over my dead body. I got up in his face knowing it could start a fight. “ Hear me good Ice. I’m not signing. I'm going to win my wife back. I will claim her and mark her as mine. Find someone else because you aren’t getting what is mine.” I said.
I know I won’t get much done here today so I turn to leave. I don’t want to beat his ass and cause a scene. That won’t get me in Sabine’s good graces. Ice’s words won’t stop me from getting my girl. I will just have to work harder than him. But he does have an advantage over me. He had known Sabine for years and is still in good with her. Watch out Sabine I’m coming for you and I won’t stop until you have my ring again and my mark.
Pixie Today I have what we joke around and call a light day. I only practice my routines then I help out with Nixon’s hockey kids and work with my figure skating class. I love this part of my day. Watching all the little kids hit the ice. Today’ class is for kids from ages five to eight. They are too cute for words in their hockey uniforms or skating outfits. It makes me ache for one of my own sometimes. Well, a lot of times. I do want to have kids one day. Maybe in a year or two. But in order for that to happen I need a husband. Or at least a boyfriend. And not that good for nothing of a husband I have now. The one who still hasn’t signed the papers. It has been almost two weeks. What the hell is he waiting for? It takes two seconds for him to sign his name. But enough about that for now. I won’t let my mind go there. I have important little people to teach. I see Jax gliding over to me. “ Sabine, are we going to ask today?” he asks. I squat down so I can look in his eyes. “ That
Viper I was at the auto shop going over the land deal again. Nixon agreed to have another meeting. This time he was handling it instead of lawyers. He said he was willing to give another chance. Apparently Sabine had talked to him and she said her feelings towards me shouldn’t affect business deals. I’ll take what I can get right now. And a part of me is hoping that since Sabine is changing her mind on business maybe she would eventually change her mind about me. I was going to the rink later today. If I couldn’t talk to her yet I was going to watch her practices. I have even watched a few videos to find out what moves she is doing. I was able to find a few videos of Sabine's previous competitions. To be honest I have know idea what the moves she does are called. I did try to learn but I couldn’t keep up. I did learn a few names but that was it. I did learn a few other things though. For one the announcers always called Sabine a fierce competitor and very technical. Another thing
Pixie Today is what we call a light day. I teach my six thru ten year old's class in the morning. Which now includes little Jax. I am so proud of how far he has come in the short time I have been working with him. I don’t often come across natural talent but Jax has it. And I have been teaching seriously since I was sixteen. It is what I’m going to do after I retire from competing. In my world unfortunately you have a shelf life. Whether it is from injury or just getting too old. Yea, that is a thing. Most people don’t last past thirty in the skating world unless they do shows like the Ice capades. Everyone has to have something to fall back on. I have a degree in business but I also minored in physical education. Business really isn't my thing but I figured if I got too injured to skate I would use it. But what I really enjoy is teaching these kids how to skate. I love seeing their faces light up when they master a new move. Like Jax just did when he did a sit spin after only his
Viper I went back to the club after I talked to Sabine. I needed to get some paperwork done and check on the club. I may not be in charge for another week but I am still paying attention to what is going on. Merigold and the ol’e ladies have the skanks in line but I still need to go over the lists Merigold and Anna supply me with. It has everything from who needs to go to the doctor, if there is any maintenance that needs to be done in their quarters and a budget for hygiene and personal needs. I sent a prospect to check on a leaky bathroom faucet one of the girls complained about. I needed to know if it was something one of us could fix or if we needed a plumber. I approve the budget for the girls. That part is easy since Merigold has them itemize it so I know what the money's going for. Then Anna will do the shopping to make sure the money is used correctly. Then I approve Tina’s trip to the doctor. That poor girl has had a cold for a week now and can’t shake it. Gretchen made a n
Pixie Everyday for a week flowers have arrived at the rink. When they first came I was joking and saying they were for Rocket because the only time I get flowers is after a competition. That was until the delivery guy handed a bouquet of wildflowers so big I couldn’t get my arms around it. Then there was a smaller bouquet of purple carnations. I didn’t understand why I was getting flowers until Rocket pulled a card out of the carnations. All the flowers all week have been from Viper. The front entryway is full of flowers now because we had no place to put them. It looks like a flower shop blew up and landed at the rink. Well, except for the first two. I took those home. But I will have to replace them soon. But I do have plenty to choose from. I broke apart one of the carnation bouquets and gave them to the children’s group to give to their moms. To show the mom’s how much we appreciate them taking the time to bring the kids to practice and cheering them on. They loved it. But after
Viper I watched Nixon take a very upset Sabine off to the steam room. I wanted to go with them but I needed answers. “ Some want to explain to me why the fuck Sabine looked like she was on the verge of a panic attack.” I yelled. My voice was bouncing around the arena. Casper slumps in the closest chair. Rocket turns her head but not before I see her wipe tears from her eyes. “ I’m going to check on her.” Rocket says with a raspy voice. It looks like she is going to break down any second now. She turns and sprints alongside the rink to the other hallway. Ice deflates against the rink wall and takes his ear piece out. “ Casper, we can't let this happen again,” he said. Casper shakes his head “ We won’t brother. You heard her. We will bring in anyone we can. Round the clock guards. We will put a blowup mattress on the floor of her room if we have to.” Casper said. He looked ready to kill. “ What the fuck is going on? Why did my wife look like she was going to collapse?” I yelled again.
Pixie One week since the brick incident and my life has been turned completely upside down. The first thing that changed is I’m not allowed to go anywhere by myself. I have two to four guards at a time depending on what I am doing. Nixon and Casper installed a security system on our house and updated the one at the rink. I now have a guard that stays in the house, one that roams outside. All of the Red Devils and the Renegades are talking shifts. I know most of the Devils so that isn’t a big deal. It is annoying but I’m dealing with it. I can’t talk Nixon and Casper out of all of this. I argued for two days but I got nowhere. They are determined to keep me safe even at the cost of my privacy. I was worried we would lose clients or attendance would drop if people thought the rink wasn’t safe. Casper and Nixon had every client on a conference call and explained the situation. Would you believe that all the clients had no problem with the extra safety measures if it kept me safe.
Viper I arrived at the rink early and had a prospect check the outside. I wanted to get there before the photographer. I didn’t like the idea of Sabine being photographed anyway and I don’t know this guy. Rocket called me jealous. Maybe I am a little. All these people know Sabine better than I do. I will get there but it seems far away right now. The main thing is I don’t want some guy looking at my girl in her workout clothes. I don’t want any guy looking at what is mine. Period. So I’m going to be keeping a close eye on this guy. I go inside and see Nixon and several Devils roaming around. I see Stone, the Devils enforcer at the wall of the rink with his arms crossed. I see he is talking to Anna. What is she doing here? I walk over to the and nod at Stone before greeting Anna. “ Hey Anna. I didn’t expect to see you here.” I said. “ I’m always here for shoot day.” Anna said. I tilt my head questioning her. “ Viper, I’m Sabine’s costume designer. I’m here in case there are any a
