Chapter 40 Do you really love me?

I walk into the bedroom and notice her lying on the bed. I move over and sit beside her, reaching out to pat her on the head.

She just shifts her weight and turns to the other side. "I need to rest," she murmurs.

I look at her stiff back, disappointed. I had not eaten since last night because I was so worried. I didn't take a bath either this morning, and she is simply avoiding me.

Shouldn't she be explaining to me how she ended up at the hospital?

I can understand why Edward has not called me. But Molly has no reason not to call me. There are so many things she needs to explain, and all she does is ignore me as if nothing has happened.

This is distressing.

I respect her decision, believing that I will have enough time to speak with her later.

"You must be hungry. Let me know what you want to eat."

"I am not hungry," she says flatly.
