Olivia's POV

Damien was pacing his study like he usually did when he was anxious about anything. I believed it was a trait that his father had passed down to him. I remembered the day I had not been quick enough to enter my hiding place in the panels in the study. Damien's father had walked in and had paced for about an hour or more. I remembered that I had fallen asleep waiting for him to leave.

“Are you going to tell me what is happening or you are just going to keep pacing about like all is lost?” I asked him, getting frustrated with the silence.

“What do you think of Austin?” Damien asked me.

I raised an eyebrow, that was not the type of question I was expecting to hear and his tone too was funny, like he was doubting his best friend.

“Austin? He's your best friend Damien and I know he was mean the other day to me, but he's only trying to protect like it is his duty to,” I said to him.

Damien stopped pacing, but he still didn't look at me. He let out a breath and sat on the edge o

Olivia's POV “I heard Prinsca is here,” remarked Austin. For some reason I could not bring myself to understand Austin seemed anxious.Instinctively, I squeezed the note in my hand.I tried not to look at Damien so as not to give away the fact that we suspected something or anything at all about Austin.“Where is she? Is she in there?” asked Austin, he was clearly anxious about something. His eyes darted towards the hallway and then back at me, as though he expected someone to burst out any second. He kept glancing over his shoulder too, as if he had seen something—or someone—behind him. I remembered the words on the note I now squeezed in my hand and I could not help but wonder if the snake Prinsca had been referring to in the book was Austin.“Olivia will take care of her but we need to talk, Austin,” Damien said, his tone was so casual as though Prinsca had not just warned us of something and as though he was not worried in the least that Austin had betrayed him. It was almost uns

Olivia's POV “What about Austin, Damien. Did something happen?” I asked Damien in a soft tone. His pacing was fueling my own anxiety.“There is no lady Alora in the pack. There is no nobleman with a mate named Lady Alora,” said Damien, there was no fear in his voice, only anger at being made a fool.“And you think that Austin sent these people?” I asked him.“He was sitting on my chair with a smug smile on his lips and then he… he had that look like he had succeeded at something,” he said, still pacing the study.“There was a strange calm around him. The kind that settles over a person who believes their plan is foolproof,” Damien added, dragging a hand through his hair. “I’ve seen that expression before, just never on Austin’s face.”“That is not enough to suspect him of anything,” I told Damien. Left to me, he was imagining things and the only reason this was happening was because Lord Zigmund had put ideas in his head. I did not doubt that someone close to him could betray him but

Prinsca's POV “Everything is finally coming into focus, Prinsca. We will rule the world together,” she said, an evil smile on her lips.“You tell that to everybody,” I said the words before I could stop myself from saying the words out loud.“Oh, honey, I never meant it when I tell the men but when I tell you, I mean it,” if I did not know better, I would have believed her. She had a very alluring voice.I was quiet. I felt a strange weight settle over my chest. I watched her as she walked about the room, she was probably thinking of something evil to do or how she was going to spurn her wicked plans. She walked slowly, each step echoing off the walls, and I felt my breathing shorten. I wished I had not spoken earlier, because now it felt like something dangerous was about to unfold. The way she paused at intervals, glancing at me from the corner of her eyes, made me uneasy.Suddenly, she stopped in front of me and crouched, placed her hand on my stomach and said with a toothy smile.

Prinsca's POV “There's no loyalty in the world, really,” Alira said in a high-pitched tone.I sat down and stayed quiet, not wanting to trigger her in any way. She was unpredictable and in all honesty, I was scared of what might happen to me if she sensed that I was against her in any way. I avoided her eyes because looking at her for too long made my hands tremble, and I could not afford to show weakness in front of her.“I mean, you betrayed your brother,” she said, turning to look at me. Of course, she had conveniently left out the part where she had threatened to harvest my baby from my womb while she made me watch her do it. I placed my hand instinctively over my bulging stomach, realising that she could still carry out her threat. My skin felt tight around my stomach as I tried to steady my breathing, knowing that any wrong move could be dangerous.“And now Austin? He's going to betray his best friend. They've been friends since they were in diapers,” said Alira with an amused

Orion's POV I woke up in the middle of the night, startled and soaked in sweat like I usually was these days. It had been two days since I had returned home. Olivia had told me that she would find a way to reach out to me but I was beginning to doubt that she ever will. I understood her though, a lot was at stake and if we were caught plotting against Alira, it would lead to our immediate deaths. However, I was freaking out with every second that passed. It was frustrating smiling at the woman who I knew was going to kill me. Worse still I feared that she had a hold of me due to our past intimacy which I knew she expected me to have no memories of.I hated how silent the halls had become. Even the servants avoided meeting my eyes, like they could sense something was wrong.I woke up in the night, covered in sweat and decided that it was best if I just took a walk. I knew that I would be unable to go back to sleep. It was becoming a habit—these nightly walks. They gave me a sense of c
