Alpha Damien’s Demands.

"He's a lunatic, Jeremy," Olivia spat, her words cutting through me like a knife. Time seemed to freeze as I struggled to process what she'd just said.

I'd fantasized about this moment, meeting my son for the first time. But I never expected Olivia to look at me like I was crazy, like I was clinging to a fantasy.

I took a step forward, my throat tightening. "Olivia..."

But she cut me off, her grip on Jeremy's hand tightening. "Stay away from us."

The words stung, but I knew I had to push through. "Simeon is not his father, I am," I declared, my voice firm.

Olivia's eyes flashed with hatred. "You don't have the right to stop me."

But before things escalated further, the air was filled with the scent of hostile wolves from the Black Thorn pack. Growls echoed through the clearing, and my pack sprang into action.

"Take your son to safety!" I barked at Olivia, my voice urgent.

For a moment, she hesitated, conflict written all over her face. Then, she clutched Jeremy to her chest and ran.

The battle was intense, but my pack fought hard. When the dust settled, I was left standing, my hands bloody. After the battle had died down bearably, my Beta, Austin, walked over to me, cleaning his blade on his sleeve as he advanced closer to me. We were standing in the clearing, surrounded by the carnage of the battle.

"This is madness, Damien," Austin said, his expression grim. "It's too much."

I knew what was coming. "Let her go," he said. "If you want to redeem yourself, you can't keep her captive."

But I wasn't holding her captive. At least, not yet. "I am not making her stay," I said stiffening up.

Austin raised an eyebrow. "Aren't you? You honestly think that if you don't let her leave, she will immediately forgive you? That she will forget everything and run back into your arms?"

I bit down hard on my lips, struggling to keep myself from choking on my raw emotion. "She hates me," I said softly.

Austin's expression softened. "But if I release her now, I will lose her forever," I lamented.

Austin sighed, dragging a hand down his face. "Maybe you already have, but you don't know yet."

His words were too pessimistic for me to take in. So, I took a deep breath and pushed my feelings away. "I need to go attend to my duties now. Bring Olivia to her mother," I commanded. "Make sure she and Jeremy are well fed and taken care of."

Austin paused, but nodded eventually. "Understood," He said, but I could still see the skepticism in his eyes. He didn't think it would end like the way I wanted it to.

I had just finished washing the blood from my hands when I was called to a meeting with the elders of the pack. When I entered the council chamber, white, wrinkled faces looked down at me from their seats. They always watched me this way, measuring and judging with their gazes. They'd been doing so ever since Brielle, my Luna, who was termed barren by all,

had passed on without giving me a heir.

It didn't take long for the discussion to veer in a direction I had been anticipating. "The Alpha needs an heir," The chief of them all said.

I reclined in my chair and bit back a sigh. "We've had this discussion previously," I mouthed.

The elder nodded. "Those are still just words, and years have passed, and you still have no child to show forth," He added.

Another elder leaned forward. "It's time to look ahead, Alpha. You have waited too long."

"Move forward?" I repeated coldly.

The elder nodded. "Yes. We have prepared a feast where you must select a breeder."

The sound of that turned my stomach with its familiarity, like I was some sort of mindless animal. As if I was supposed to pick some woman up, shove a kid into her and that's going to make everything all right.

I stood up and pushed back from the table. "I am not choosing anyone," I hinted.

The elders exchanged uneasy glances. "We expected resistance," one of them said. "Which is why we've already dispatched invites."

My anger boiled over. "You did what?" I thundered.

The table splintered under my hands, a testament to my rage. I knew I had to get out of there, to clear my head. But one thing was certain: I wouldn’t be choosing a breeder. My heart belonged to Olivia, and I would stop at nothing to make her mine again.

Is that too much to ask for?” I quizzed, refusing to eat the meal being served to me. Damien’s POVThe night air hit my skin, sending goosebumps through my body. I shivered slightly, walking towards the stable where I had kept my horse. The sounds of music and laughter from the hall was loud, echoing through the night. I huffed in annoyance as I approached my horse that was tied together with others. The stable boy ran up to meet me just to confirm I was not taking a horse that didn't belong to me and on recognizing me he bowed and scurried away. My mind had already begun to work out several plans that I could use to get to Simeon. It was going to be tough— no doubt, especially since even though his pack was weak, he was one of the strongest out of the weak ones. I racked my brain, trying to remember if Alpha Simeon had any enemy pack I could pay off to attack them and then come in as a knight in shining armor to help them, but of course— a daunting condition will be attached and he, out of desperation would have no choice than to accept. I smiled to myself as I led

Damien's POVI gazed upon my Beta as though offended that he had even asked the question. Of course I had a plan, I always did. I tried to be one step ahead in every situation. It was how I had sustained the Blood Moon pack and had transformed it into one of the most powerful packs in the world. “Of course, I do,” I replied my Beta with a mischievous glint in my eye. I had a foolproof plan and nothing was going to make it fail. “You really want to make me ask?” asked Austin, my Beta teasingly. I laughed and replied, “what fun will I have, if I don't make you ask?” “Fine, do you care to share your plan?” he asked me. My lips stretched into a smile as I thought about the best way to present my plan to my Beta. Austin always had my back no matter what and he was the only person who had the guts to call my bluff. It meant that if I did not present my plan in a logical manner, he was going to see all the flaws I had not thought of and he would let me know unapologetically that my plan

“It appears that we have a common enemy,” I said with a casual tone that I might as well have been talking about a game of darts or perhaps chess. A tone that people used lightheartedly to discuss the weather and give complimentary greetings. "And who is that common enemy?" He inquired with a raise of his brows. I furrowed my brows and narrowed my eyes at him, wondering if he really did not know who I was talking about, or if he was just playing dumb. I could not really tell from looking at him, so I just decided to ask."You mean to tell me you have no idea who I speak of?" I folded my arms across my chest, my brows lifted at him. If he was ready to make me dance around this conversation, then I was willing to. I didn't have all the time in the world, but for now, I would act like I did. "I am a peaceful man, Damien," he commented drily, his eyes darting around the space before settling back on me. He sniffed, rubbing his nose as though it itched him before speaking again. "I do no

Olivia’s POVThe days in Simeon's palace dragged on infinitely. It was obvious Simeon wanted nothing more to do with me while he continued playing father to Jeremy. It was rather hurtful to watch the man that once loved me begin to find me repulsive. As I strolled in the garden one evening, I saw Simeon walking just a few feet ahead of me. I hurried my steps to catch up with him, wanting to speak to him to see if perhaps he was willing to forgive me even though I have done nothing wrong. In my desperate attempt to have his attention, I stood in front of him so as to block his path. “Simeon?” I called his name softly and for a brief second I noticed a shimmer of warmth in reaction to my voice. “I have no interest in what you have to say,” he told me and attempted to walk away but as he moved to the side to walk away from me, I moved too in order to block his path. He looked irritated with this move and shot me a stern look as if reminding me of the consequences of defying him. Ho

A Fight to Surrender Simeon's POVThe last thing I had expected was for Olivia to show up in battle. I had expected the rear end of the battle field where my beta, Reuben was holding off to be completely hopeless only for me to hear my name and see her— and when I looked behind me, I could see that the end of the battle field was cleared off.I did not want to retreat because it would make me feel like a coward who could not fight Orion off and also because I did not want to listen to her, but she was right. It was a death wish and the best thing was to retreat and restrategize. So although reluctant, I told my men to retreat to the Southern Cliff. There was not much resistance from Orion's men who had been badly hit too. I knew they were going to strategize too. “When we were assembled at the Southern Cliff, I said to Olivia in a stern voice, “this had better be good.” I wanted it to be clear that I had not forgiven her and I was still very angry with her. She ignored the anger in

But I did not allow his sword to touch mine. I dragged the man closest to me in an attempt to block the sword aimed at me and instead of me, the man I had used as my shield died. The soldier looked horrified as he realised that he had killed one of his own. I took advantage of the brief moment to lunge my sword deep into his stomach. He had not seen it coming.Blood pooled at his feet as I yanked my sword free before his body fell to the ground with a thud. He was still gargling up and struggling to stay alive but the impact of horses trodding on him eventually killed him as the pain and weight was unbearable.A soldier thrust his sword forward, but I used my shield to block it. The impact was this close to sending me flying off my horse but I held on because falling off meant death. I used my shield to push his sword forward but he held on tightly. Luckily for me, my shield was made with reinforced metal and pushing with all my might caused his sword to bend and break at the centre.

Simeon's POV The nerve of Damien. He was by far the most infuriating and challenging person I'd ever had to deal with throughout my entire existence. He was a proud man who believed he could always get his way and that he was untouchable, and the moon goddess knew how badly I was going to teach him a lesson. Something was telling me that the attack against my pack from Orion was orchestrated by him. I had no proof of that yet, but I had every reason to believe so. Orion and I had always hated each other, especially over the disputes regarding the town because he wanted all the money the town was making to himself, but unfortunately we had to share it. We had fought over it severally and we had eventually come to a peace treaty concerning it to have equal parts of it, but suddenly he changed his mind and wanted everything? Bringing a war to my door?Yes, Orion was greedy. His palms were always scratching him to give something more no matter how much he had, but the timing was too p
