Aian had definitely enjoyed their lunch together and Kalvin had seem genuinely interested in what he was saying but the man himself said so little.
He felt like tearing his hair out in frustration.
He remembered what he had been taught in school about twin flames:
‘Twin Flame or sometimes called mirror soul, is an intense soul connection with someone thought to be a person’s other half. It is based on the belief that a soul gets split in to two bodies and a red string was attached to the both of you so that you will be able to find each other again.
Each and every person on this earth has a twin flame, or perhaps twin flames, destined for them. Unfortunately, most people don’t find this other person. There are a lot of people on this planet to try to sort through to find just one single person and lots of things can happen in the meantime. People die every day, at all ages. Each time someone dies, someone else has lost a twin flame. But those that are lucky enough to find this other person find someone who fills a missing part of themselves.
Twin Flames are broadly described as being one of two types, platonic or romantic, but don’t be fooled. That kind of bond is hard to define in such simple terms. The beauty of human nature is that the missing part is different for everyone. The very meaning behind twin flame is different for everyone and one of the great joys is finding out what that person means to you and how he makes you whole.’
But that didn’t help him sort out his emotions about this intimidating man.
He couldn’t see them being platonic twin flames.
Just a friend for a man like that?
He wondered if Kalvin even had friends.
Real friends- not people after his money.
He wasn’t too sure, judging on the reaction he had gotten when he tried to turn down the gift. But that left a twin flame in the romantic terms and Aian wasn’t too sure about that either.
Sure, the businessman was very attractive, and that voice sounded like sin but that didn’t mean that much, did it?
He hadn’t expected to fall for a man either.
Why was this all so hard?
A familiar ringtone interrupted his thoughts.
Aian reluctantly pulled out his phone and checked the caller ID. Looks like his mother was finally making that call she had messaged about earlier. With a small sigh, Aian picked up the phone.
“Mom-” he was immediately interrupted by an excited squeal.
“Yanyan! I have the best news!” his mother all but yelled down the phone line. “You remember old Chiyo from next door? She found her twin flame today! There’s this new older couple that moved in nearby and the wife joined Chiyo’s knitting club and that’s how they found each other. I’m so excited for them! They are both married with kids and grand kids and it looks as though they will be thick as thieves and getting in to all sorts of mischief together. She said they clicked right away and immediately knew they were platonic twin flames.”
Aian winced when his mother squealed again. As she chattered on for a bit, Aian let his mind wander.
How come they got it so easy? How come they knew straight away while he was stuck here with more questions than answers?
“Yanyan, dear?” his mother’s concerned voice jolted him back out of his thoughts.
“Yes?”
“Are you okay? You’re very quiet.”
“Ah, I’m just a bit distracted is all. It’s been a crazy day,” Aian said as he slowly let out a breath, trying to steady himself.
“Oh? Did something happen? Is everything okay? Or did you get a date?” she said teasingly.
Aian didn’t reply, he couldn’t even form the words.
“Aian?”
When she got no response, Glyniss squealed. “You did, didn’t you! I always told you that you would forget to tell me these things! I’m so excited for you, Yanyan! You have to tell me everything! How did you meet? What are they like? Oh, are they male or female?”
He sighed again.
“Male. He’s… older. I didn’t ask him his age actually. He’s a businessman, although he didn’t tell me exactly what he does, it seems like he’s done pretty well for himself considering where he took me out for lunch. He’s my twin flame.”
Another squeal sounded out through the phone speaker.
“What’s his name? Oh! What does he look like? Is he handsome? Do you think he’s going to be a romantic partner or a platonic one?”
Aian struggled to keep up with the onslaught of questions that his mother threw at him in her excitement.
“His name is Kalvin Fenellere and he’s attractive,” he replied tentatively. “But I don’t know yet. Honestly? I have no idea what to make of this whole thing.”
“Tell me how you two met!” she exclaimed and Aian explained about the fight, broken camera, lunch and finally the trip to the camera store.
“Mom, I don’t know what to do. The stuff he bought for me is enough to cover all my expenses for at least 6 months! He wouldn’t take no for an answer when I told him I didn’t need him to do that. He went on about how he wouldn’t let his twin flame go without if he could help it and when I tried to tell him that I had another camera that I can use, he still wouldn’t listen!”
“Oh, that’s so sweet!”
“No, it’s not. He wouldn’t listen to me!”
“Maybe he just wanted to buy something for someone who would appreciate the gift?”
Aian groaned at his mother’s well meaning response. She was completely missing the point.
“I don’t know what to make of this whole thing. I just got dropped off home in a limo. I mean, who rides around in a limo? I just… I just don’t know what to do.”
“It’s okay, darling, don’t stress so much. You both clearly came from very different backgrounds but you have all the time in the world to figure things out. You must bring him to visit sometime.”
Aian tried to imagine that huge, intimidating man standing in his parent’s sleepy suburb surrounded by clucking old ladies and groaned.
Why was this happening to him?
Kalvin’s eyebrows shot up to his hairline and Aian felt his face burn in embarrassment almost at once. “Or not. I mean, if you don’t want to.” “Oh no, since you offered such an intriguing solution, I would love to take you up on the offer,” the older man’s face settled into a very familiar smirk. “But who’s the pervert now, hmm, angel?” Aiangroaned and covered his face with his good arm. His face was still getting redderthat he could feel the burning heat intensifying. “It’s your fault. You made me like this.” Kalvinlaughed at that. “Oh no, I merely brought out your inner desires. But I don’t see why you are getting so embarrassed over this. This is no worse than anything else we have done and YOU were the one to suggest it. I’m not about to laugh at you for your fantasies. I honestly doubt there is anything you would suggest that I wouldn’t do. We are quite matched in that regard.” Aianremoved his arm and stared at Kal
Aianwas ecstatic to be back at the penthouse. Kalvinwould still be around a lot, choosing to spend more time working from home for a few weeks and his security team would be around more to help out physically as well. He was still stuck being wheelchaired around for the next few weeks but at least he wasn’t stuck in a hospital bed. Kalvinwas wheeling him past one of the the spare room when he noticed something familiar through the door from the corner of his eye. “Wait. Hold up, what’s in that room now?” Kalvinstopped in place but didn’t respond. Aiancraned his head around to stare up at his twin flameonly to be met with a blank face. Highly suspicious. “Kal, what’s in that room?” Still no answer. “Wheel me back.” The man seemed to weigh up his options before reluctantly pulling him back so they were beside the door after he asked a second time. Aian
Having been in the hospital for a full seven days, Aianwas itching to leave. Kalvinhad wheeled him outside a few times so he could bask in the fresh air and sunshine but honestly,Aianwanted to go home. It didn’t help that Chadhad been released into Otto’s care yesterday morning, leaving only the three of them in the ward together. Aianwas rightthat sharing the room was so much better than being by himself, though. They had a constant stream of visitors from the security team, both to visit them and to guard the room. He had also met some of Caleb’s and Shawn’s family members, all of whom were surprised to find out who Aianwas. Now he was caught up on all the movies and shows he wanted to watch and had even learneda few new card games as well. But he wassoready to go home. Kalvinsat on a chair beside his bed, reading through a few work documents that Blake
“Hello, Nettie.” “Is that how you greet an old friend, hmm?” she sat down on the chair beside her basket. “Honestly, you haven’t been over to visit for a drink and a chat in ages. I was giving you time to settle down with your little twin flamehaving all your attention but I swear, if he wasn’t your twin flame, he would be your midlife crisis.” “I’m not that old,” Kalvinhuffed out and Aianlooked torn between finding it funny and embarrassing. “If I didn’t know any better, I would dispute that. But it’s not about age, it’s about life experience. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing. Hell, I would be behind this relationship all the way, twin flamestatus or not,if it means youget toactually relax and we get to see that you’re a human with feelings. Honestly, I could do with a cute little midlife crisis myself.” She gave a selfdepreciating laugh. “I swear I may as well be married to my restaurant! But you n
Calebstretched. Or at least tried to. He winced as the dull ache sharpened through his body as he moved. His right hand and wrist were encased in a cast and his shoulder was braced as well as possible to stop him from tearing open the bullet wound. The rest of his body ached as though he had been hit by a car, although the force of him hitting the ground wasn’t too far off being the same. He had to admit he was grateful for the Ecliprises-sponsored hospital treatment. Private ward and a room shared just with him and the other two injured guards. On top of that, he had a bed that was actually comfortable and a regular food that was decent. He also had a constant stream of visitors to keep him occupied, his mother with different siblings accompanying her each time and all the security team members had dropped in to say hello and keep them all company. He was surprised when a nurse came in and set up the unmade fourth bed afte
It had been a few days of bleary waking hours and constant naps but Aianwas finally perking up. Unfortunately, with his wakefulness came boredom. He was stuck mostly unable to move and often alone. He thought maybe he could play games on his handheld gaming device but thatalsorequired his left hand. As did trying to hold and navigate on his phone. He had been left with some books but holding them up while trying to turn the pages was awkward and reading on his phone wasn’t much better. He had his headphones on and listened to music but the energetic beat just reinforced how much he wanted to move. And how much he can’t. The worst part was that he could feel The Tug. He had never felt it before but he knew that’s what it was. It was faint, a slight tugging for him to get up and move in a certain direction. He checked on the map on his phone earlier and realizedthat it pointed to Ecliprises. H
