"Thank you so much for the ride," I said as I alighted from the car, feeling grateful for the lift.

"You're welcome," John replied, offering a slight smile as he looked up at the building we were standing in front of.

"This is a temporary residence for people coming to visit in the country. Are you not a citizen of this country?" he asked, his curiosity evident in his tone.
