Discharge day came, and with it, a feeling of freedom and excitement.

The moment I stepped out of the hospital, the breezy air whipped against my face gently, and I closed my eyes, relishing it.

I took in a long, deep breath.

Finally, the air around me didn't smell like disinfectant and antiseptics.

Gaze scanning through the entire cars parked in the lot, another breath of relief escaped me at the realization that Nathan hadn’t come.

Despite his asking to be notified, I'd done the discharge processes myself and prepared to leave alone.

I didn't wait for Nathan because if he saw me, he would know about my date for today.

The blind date I hoped would help solve Charles's fatherly concerns.

I'd asked my brother to set me up with someone, and he’d done that.

Fortunately, too, everything was already planned and set.
