Edward’s POV

I visited Vienna every single day. I told myself it was to check on her recovery, to support Oliver, to make sure she wasn’t alone…

But the truth was simpler: I just couldn’t stay away.

Not after seeing her that day in the warehouse. Not after seeing her so fragile, trembling, drugged, barely conscious.

Some part of me had snapped open then, with protectiveness, fear, and something deeper I didn’t want to name.

We sat talking by her hospital bed, her voice soft and still raspy from withdrawal.

I was telling her about Oliver’s newest drawing—apparently I had dragon horns now—when the nurse walked in.

"Miss McAllister," the nurse smiled. "Your vitals look strong. If things continue this way, we should be able to discharge you soon."

Vienna’s fingers fidgeted with the sheet. "Already? I… I don’t know if that’s a good idea yet."

"You’re recovering very well," the nurse said gently. "But the decision is yours. Take it a day at a time."
