Six months on from the shooting Grenville was well enough to be discharged from hospital. He was moved to a Government funded nursing home in the Kent countryside, a home for old spies and government workers who held secrets that could never be public knowledge. He had suffered brain injury due to the damage inflicted by Harris’ bullet but he was able to manage most daily tasks with minimal help. He had a comfortable room and everything he needed was provided for him. The security services had tried to interview him a few times to try to ascertain what happened that day but Grenville was unable to recall much at all. He was talking obsessively about the Reivers, saying he had been following Crozier. His interviewers just shook their heads, Crozier hadn’t even been there as far as they were concerned.
