Alisha’s POV
When I was hesitated whether I should ask help for Archie, Joey questioned closely, “Alisha, will Archie and his mother will come together, right?”
No, he wouldn’t come. He even didn’t appear in our wedding anniversary, so how could he come here to celebrate your birthday?
What’s more, I never informed Archie this thing, and I bet he wouldn’t remember your birthday.
How should I answer Joey’s question?
I wanted to cheat Joey that Archie was too busy to attend his birthday party, but I was afraid that Joey might call Archie personally to invite him. Then Joey must know I wanted to leave Archie.
Evita added, “Dad, maybe Alisha ignored your words totally. Or, Archie is unsatisfied with Alisha, so he vents his anger on our pack. After all, since she married Archie, Archie never came to our pack. Dad, I warned you, it wasn’t a good idea to allow Alisha to be Archie’s wife!”
Joey squinted after hearing Evita’s words, and then he became impatient with my silence, snapping, “Now that you don’t care about me, I think there is no need for you to see your grandma later.”
“No! You have no right to stop me from seeing my grandma!” I irritated with Joey’s threaten.
“I am the Alpha of the Black Furies, and I am her son! Follow my orders and get out of my pack forever!” Joey growled.
I glared at Joey, “Don’t forget that I am the Luna of the Golden Crest! You never want to offend Archie, right?”
Joey frowned immediately with clenched fist. I knew he was controlling his temper.
Today was not a good time to come to an open break with Joey, so I tried to cool myself down and performed, “Sorry, Joey, I overreacted just, for I am so mad with Evita who has hurt my heart harshly. I have informed Archie, and he promised that he will attend your birthday party.”
Joey turned happy with answer, “That’s great! The Alpha of the Golden Crest will bring great honor for our pack!” Then he continued with a cheesy smile, “Alisha, you’re Evita’s cousin, you are supposed to be tolerant. She was kidding with you just, not to offend you, so forgive and forget it. After all, we are your family who will always stand for you!”
“Well, You’re right. I have forgiven her.” I nodded. “But you should teach her. On your birthday party, there will be many noble guests. If Evita offends other like today, it will bring great trouble for the Black Furies.” I reminded Joey out of kindness.
“Stop talking nonsense!” Evita shouted angrily.
“Just like this. Evita, you’re too rude! How can you shout so loudly at others? Uncle Joey, you must find a manner teacher for Evita. Or she might lose your face on the party.”
Joey seemed to accept my suggestion, looking at Evita with disapproval.
I didn’t want to stay here anymore and took this chance to leave.
Whatever, I must have Archie to work with me to cheat Joey. I regretted that I treated him badly this morning. If I knew I had to beg him now, I would … would still NOT allow this bastard insult me! He was too mean this morning!
Moon Goodness, please bless me!
I took a sigh and then called Archie, but the phone was declined immediately.
What’s wrong?
I called him again, but it was declined too.
I frowned. Is it inconvenient for him to answer the phone now? Maybe he was on a meeting?
I frowned and then texted him, “Archie, could you please do me a favor?”
His message came in immediately, “Huh, which woman said that she didn’t want to see me anymore?”
I ignored his words and continued texting, “Please, this is important to me. Only you can help me now.”
"If my memory serves, we just quarreled this morning.”
I closed my eyes, trying to contain my anger. With a deep breath, I composed a text message, "I believe the Alpha of the Golden Crest is not a petty man, so you shouldn't refuse a small favor, right? I'm even willing to offer you a tip as compensation, say $10,000." My song rights had been sold to DM Entertainment, but unfortunately, my royalties ended up in Archie's hand.
"Why do you think money will sway me?" I cursed myself for forgetting that this bastard was never short of cash.
"What would it take for you to assist me?" Anxiety gnawed at me. If Archie refused, Joey might Joey might suspect me and even found my plan to divorce Archie, and at that time, my grandmother would be in danger.
The next moment, Archie's call came in, his voice dripping with undisguised triumph, "No matter what you say, I won't agree unless you apologize to me!"
A surge of anger coursed through me. Archie wanted me to apologize? He, who had betrayed our marriage, who had cheated with Erma, now had the audacity to ask me for an apology?
"I've had enough of you! If you don't want to be with me, just say it! I know you look down on me, think I'm beneath you! I don't care about you either! You've never treated me with respect as your wife, and you've never come to the Black Furies! Everyone knows my Luna status is a sham!" I let all my pent-up anger burst forth. I was fed up with this shit marriage and these jerks. If it weren't for my grandmother, I'd be long gone, never to return.
Archie remained silent on the other end for a moment. Just when I thought he might hang up, he impatiently asked, "What's going on with you lately? Is someone bothering you?"
"It's you! It's always been you! You've always rejected me, ignored me!"
"Fine, what do you want me to do this time? Just spit it out. I don't have time for your boring games."
Though I wanted to remind Archie that this was no game, when I heard him would change his mind, I didn't hesitate, "Joey is having a birthday, and he hopes you can come to the Black Furies to celebrate with him."
"No problem. I promise. Are you satisfied now?"
"Also, Joey wants to invite your mother, Stephenie. It will be great if you can have her come together." Stephenie had always opposed my marriage to Archie; she despised me. So, inviting Stephenie to the Black Furies was a daunting task. Truth be told, I didn't want to do it at all, so I hoped Archie could finish this work.
I felt like I had been waiting for an eternity, but finally, Archie's reply came. Fortunately, he was dependable this time. After a brief silence, he said, "Remember, you're asking for my help, so you owe me one."
"Deal!" I exhaled in relief. Resolving this matter was my top priority. If worse came to worst in the future, I could simply deny it. After all, I would even get divorced and left with my grandmother, and at that time, Archie couldn't do nothing to me.
Archie continued, "So when are you coming back?"
I was puzzled by his question. Did he miss me during my absence? My heart raced, and I replied cautiously, "Why do you want me to come back?"
"I can't stomach the food Mireya makes."
Damn! This guy only cared about his meals! Archie, you are not a wolf but a pig!
However, considering he had just helped me solve a major issue, preparing a meal for him wasn't a big deal. So, I responded, "Maybe tomorrow."
"Okay." With that, Archie hung up.
I was about to stow my phone away when another call came in. It was Bob, the music director I had interviewed with earlier. I quickly answered, "Hello, I'm Alisha."
"Alisha, it's Bob. We met before, and I'm pleased you are willing to sell your song to our company. While I truly appreciate your singing, I'm sorry to say our company has decided to have another singer perform the song."
My heart sank upon hearing the news. I responded calmly, "That's alright; it's not your fault. I hope we can still collaborate in the future."
"I look forward to that day."
Before ending the call, I couldn't resist asking, "May I ask, well, I mean, could you tell me who will be performing the song? I'm just curious and want to learn from him to get better."
"It's not a secret. Our company will announce the news soon. It is Erma."
At the mention of that name, I froze as if plunged into an icy wasteland. Did I misheard? Why is it Erma? How could it be her?
Sensing my distress through the silence, Bob's tone turned serious, "Alisha, there's something important I need to tell you."
Archie's POV After hanging up the phone with Alisha, I couldn't help but complain, "She's really audacious. She clearly needed a favor from me, but her attitude was so terrible. I wonder if she had a bad experience somewhere else and is taking it out on me. She only dares to vent her anger on me!" “Boy, cool down. I know you're unhappy and hurting, but you should reflect on yourself.” My wolf started to blabber on my mind. “Come on! What do I need to reflect? I have already seen through her. She needs an excuse to come back.” “What? Your wife has left home and wanted to divorce you, don’t you forget that?” “No! It’s just her tricks to get my attention. I know I was too busy these days, which might get her unhappy.” “Buddy, I think you are too optimistic. According to her attitude this morning, you are supposed to say more sweet words to get her back as soon as possible. Or I am afraid that you will be dumped poorly.” “Nonsense! She loves me very much! How can she leave me? I bet
Alisha’s POV After reading these two messages, I was immediately disgusted and started to retch. While I had already come to terms with the failure of my marriage, I couldn't tolerate Erma's provocation. I sat on a bench with a stern face, staring at these two messages for a full 10 minutes. I gripped my phone so tightly it seemed like I might crush it. Then, I narrowed my eyes and thought about the song I had just sold. Since Erma had snatched my song, I, as the creator of the song, could teach her a lesson when the time came. After all, Erma had always portrayed herself as a singer-songwriter. Hmph, she was nothing more than a thief. No matter how reluctant I was to see Archie, I must go to the Black Furies with him together. Or Joey must doubt my relationship with Archie. Just hold on a little longer, endure a bit more. I need to keep Joey calm, don't let him suspect me. Once I have saved up enough money, I would immediately find an opportunity to get my grandma out of the Blac
Alisha’s POVI had to maintain the facade of a perfect wife in front of Joey, so I forced myself to respond to Archie's question with a smile, "I'm sorry, honey. I was asked to help with the cooking." I said this deliberately, knowing that Archie would be upset if he found out his wife was being mistreated by others. While he might not care about me personally, as the ruler of the Golden Crest pack, he wouldn't tolerate anyone challenging his authority.Indeed, Archie glared at Joey and Aunt Patria after hearing my words. He snapped, "Why do you need my wife, the Luna of the Golden Crest, to serve you?""No, Archie, I... I just thought that Alisha is good at cooking, so..." Patria tried to explain, her face turning pale under Archie's intense gaze.I was pleased to witness this scene, but Joey hurried to come to my aid, saying, "Alisha, we treat you very well, don't we?"Suppressing my laughter, I replied, "Archie, I was more than willing to help. You've always enjoyed the dishes I ma
Alisha's POVAfter I got into the car, I expressed my gratitude to Brad, saying, "Thank you for your help just now.""It's no problem. I was simply following the Alpha's orders. He had some urgent matters to attend to, so he asked me to take care of you," Brad replied.I smirked and asked with curiosity, "Really? So, what was it that he needed to deal with?"Brad glanced at my expression through the rearview mirror and hesitated before speaking, "Um...actually, I...I guess it is a business meeting."I caught his gaze in the mirror, but Brad quickly averted his eyes and focused on the road ahead. It was evident that he was helping Archie conceal some embarrassing secret from me, which made him feel guilty. There was no point in pressuring Brad further. After all, he wasn't my husband. With that in mind, I turned my head away and stared out of the window. However, it soon dawned on me that we weren't heading towards Nova's house but..."Wait, Brad! Where are you taking me?" I asked imme
Alisha's POV"Miss, can I assist you?" he stepped out of the car, extending a black umbrella over my head. I flinched slightly as he approached, my uneasiness apparent. Sensing my discomfort, he promptly halted."Don't worry. I too am a werewolf from the Deep Moon pack. I can sense our shared nature. I won't hurt you. Please trust me." He locked his genuine blue eyes with mine.As I beheld those eyes, familiarity struck me—I had encountered him before! After a heated argument with Archie, I had fled and inadvertently collided with this man. To my surprise, he held no grudges and even offered me a tissue to wipe away my tears!A sigh of relief escaped me as I recollected the encounter. At least he wasn't a malevolent individual. As my tension eased, I couldn't suppress a sneeze. It was an embarrassingly awkward moment. Lowering his head, he asked with concern, "Are you alright?"Before I could respond, another sneeze erupted, intensifying my embarrassment. He furrowed his brow and gall
Alisha's POVJust after I angrily ending the call, Nova rushed downstairs upon hearing my voice, immediately noticing my drenched state and the borrowed coat."What happened, Alisha? You're completely soaked!" Nova exclaimed with concern."Long story, Nova. Damn Archie drove me out of his car, and the weather was against me today. But I met someone who helped me, and he lent me his coat," I explained.Nova raised an eyebrow, a mischievous grin spreading across her face. "Oh, really? I wanted to curse Archie, but please let me know who might this someone be?"I blushed, realizing how it sounded. "No, it's not what you're thinking! He's a werewolf too, from the Deep Moon pack. I hit him accidently before, and he recognized me today."Nova's eyes widened in surprise. "Wait, you mean that guy you met when you ran away from Archie? The one who gave you a tissue?"I nodded, a smile playing at my lips. "Yes, that's him. His name is Louie. He is genuinely kind and offered me shelter from the
Alisha’s POVThe next morning arrived, and I sought Nova's assistance in finding a suitable jewellery store where the ring could be rented out. I hurried back to the Golden Crest myself. As I stepped through the front door, a wave of memories washed over me, like an old photograph coming to life. The house, with its familiar layout and cozy corners, held stories of a life I loved very much before. But today, I had found my new life, and I couldn't let nostalgia distract me.In the heart of that house, I found my way to the kitchen. It was a place that had always offered solace, a sanctuary where I could lose myself in the art of cooking. Today, it became my refuge, a way to shield myself from the inevitable conversation with Archie. As I cooked, the aroma of the food filled the air, awakening a mix of emotions within me. It reminded me of the times when I used to cook meals for Archie. Since I married him, I worked hard to research what he liked to eat, trying to please him in this way
Alisha’s POV "Hi, Louie, I am Theresa, I am very sorry to trouble you. I remember you are from Deep Moon. I want to hire ten warriors to protect the Black Furies. Could you help me get in touch with them? I'm willing to offer a generous reward." With a hopeful mindset, I made a call to Louie. After all, he was the only werewolf from another pack that I knew. "Fine, Theresa. I'll have to ask my Alpha. We sometimes would accept the protection task, so it shouldn't be a problem. But I'd like to know, why do you need to hire warriors? It's important for us." "We received information that a group of rogues from the Dark Forest will be reaching our territory. We're concerned about a potential conflict. Our own... honestly speaking, we're not skilled in combat." As I said this, my face flushed with embarrassment. Though it was true, our pack had few warriors, and even my own ability was limited to wound healing. I couldn't shift or engage in battle, so this Gift was useless in fact. "Alri
