ALPHA JOHN XAVIER’S POV:

“Alpha, are you listening?” Andrew’s voice cut through my foggy thoughts, snapping me out of them.

I jolted upright, feeling the heavy weight of tiredness on my shoulders. I rubbed my face and brushed the stubble on my jaw.

These past five years, I haven’t felt like myself. Each day was a struggle against a deep fatigue that made it hard to concentrate.

“What festival are you talking about?” I replied, my voice raspy as I straightened in my chair. Andrew stood in front of me, his brow furrowed with concern with an invitation letter clutched tightly in his hands.

As I leaned forward, sunlight streamed through the window, lighting up the edges of the card. I took it from him, our fingers brushing.

Reading the words, shock and disbelief filled me.

The Nightshade Pack—one of the oldest and most powerful packs to exist—was celebrating their three-hundredth anniversary, and Silver Moon had been invited.

“What do you think, Alpha? Should we go?” he asked enthusi

Mimi’s hands froze in the soapy water, a plate slipping back into the sink with a dull splash. Her thoughts tangled, pulling her under. Why had Evelyn suddenly changed like this? She used to be the only one who stood firm, the one who almost got him fired after what he did, the one who swore Mimi would never have to face him again. Mimi had believed her, etched those words into her mind as truth. But now Evelyn was softening, changing her tune, asking her to talk to him?Mimi’s jaw clenched. Heat pricked her chest as she grabbed the sponge and scrubbed harder, suds flying, the squeak of porcelain sharp in the quiet kitchen. She didn’t want to remember that day. The weight of it pressed against her ribs, the most crushing memory she carried. Her breath left in a sharp hiss. “How the hell did that bastard get into her head?” she muttered, her voice low and raw. She scrubbed faster, her hands red from the hot water. “Did he lie to her? Twist her? Manipulate her like the snake he is?”A s

EVEYLNI didn’t know why, but the teacher’s words left a knot in my stomach. There was no way that could be true. How was that even possible?“Babe!” John’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts, and I jolted upright in the passenger seat. He was beside me in the car, phone in hand, eyes wide.“Do you see the news? They—” He shoved the screen closer to me. “They exposed Giovanni. Just like that.”“Yeah, I saw it,” I said flatly. He blinked at me, clearly expecting a different reaction. His gaze searched mine, confusion written all over his face. I let out a long sigh and looked away, pressing my palms against my knees.“What’s wrong?” he asked softly. “Is it… what the teacher said about that girl?”“Isn’t it weird?” I whispered, dragging a hand through my hair. “Harry swears he sees her, but the teacher says she doesn’t exist. How is that possible? What if… what if he’s hallucinating or something?”I leaned back against the seat, closing my eyes for a moment as the weight of it all pres

EVELYN“What do you think triggered Bea’s memory?” John asked as we stepped into the school, our son and daughter holding each of our hands before we let them go.The hallway was buzzing, lockers slamming shut, sneakers squeaking on the tiles, laughter and chatter bouncing off the walls. Students brushed past us, weaving to their classes, barely noticing we didn’t belong here. We weren’t here for them. We were here for Olena, hoping foolishly, to get a word with her.I wasn’t even sure if coming here was the right thing. My son wouldn’t stop talking about her all morning, though—her beauty this, her fairy-like face that. Even on the drive, he couldn’t shut up about her. It made me uneasy, like something was slipping out of my control.“Maybe going back to Texas,” I said, shrugging, trying to keep my voice steady. “Or maybe doing the thing she loves most.”John tilted his head, eyes narrowing as if he was piecing something together. “That’s a good thought,” he murmured, his hand tappin

EVELYN.Harry sat on the floor beside Harriet, his brows drawn tight as he copied the shapes her fingers made. His lips moved silently, trying to catch up with her quick signs. He fumbled once, then laughed at himself, and she giggled back, patient with him.I leaned closer, my hands moving slowly as I signed, “Have you eaten?”Harriet nodded, her small fingers spelling out, “Yes… I’m sleepy.”“Alright, baby,” I whispered, brushing a strand of hair from her forehead.I lifted her gently and laid her on the bed. She curled into the pillow, tiny lashes already fluttering closed. I sat by her side, stroking her hair until her breathing grew steady and deep. When she finally slipped into sleep, I pulled the blanket over her and tucked it around her shoulders. For a moment, I just sat there staring at her. My chest ached, my throat heavy with tears I refused to let fall. I pressed my lips together, whispering inside my heart, I can’t break now. I have to be strong… for them. It looked lik

EVELYNWe had to call in Doctor Harn because she suddenly started acting strange in the room, and that was when he finally gave us the news we never wanted to hear, his voice heavy like a stone dropping into silence as he said, “sadly… she has basically lost her memory.” The words slammed into me so hard my heart lurched into my throat, my chest tightened, my knees buckled, and I almost hit the floor if John hadn’t grabbed my arm and steadied me, his grip firm yet trembling. His jaw clenched as he turned on the doctor, his voice breaking between anger and despair, “memory loss? right fucking now? how is this even possible, doctor—you literally told us she was fine.” The disappointment in his tone cut deeper than any shout could while Doctor Harn just stood there, shoulders sinking, his eyes clouded with guilt as he gave a helpless shake of his head, unable to offer us anything but silence and the weight of his sadness.“The truth is that the chances of her regaining her memories are

EVEYLN“Now what connection does Darwin have with Bea?” I muttered, dragging my fingers through my hair as I paced the echoing lobby, the place dim and deserted after a whole day of waiting, night pressing against the glass doors.“I don’t think the problem is their connection,” John said, his voice steady but his eyes tracking me like he was trying to piece together a puzzle, “the real question is what was he doing there and why does it look like there were other people in the car,”I froze mid-stride, my breath catching, “you’re right, exactly, and it wasn’t even a car, John, it was a huge black bus, so… what if it’s kidnapping”“Wait—” John’s brow furrowed as if something sharp just clicked in his head. “human trafficking,” “What?” I snapped, my chest tightening as I turned toward John.“Remember, he’s no ordinary alpha,” John said, his jaw tightening, the words cutting sharp, “the prick’s also Mafia, maybe even a fucking gang leader, it’s dangerous as hell, and how Bea got caught
