GIOVANNI

"Boss, Alpha John came looking for Elvis at the construction site,"

As soon as I read the message, I snapped my phone shut and shoved it into my pocket. My jaw clenched. I couldn’t leave Evelyn now, not after what I saw last night. The image burned in my mind: their lips pressed together, her arms wrapped around him like he was her whole world.

The memory cut deep in my mind. My chest ached with a rage I could barely hold back. It hurt so much I wanted to storm into her room, rip him away from her, and destroy him with my bare hands.

No one could ever love Evelyn the way I do. No one. Every sacrifice, every sleepless night, every risk I took it was all for her. And yet, after everything, she’s back with him. Her ex.

A bitter laugh escaped me. Fine. If she thinks she can love him again, I’ll make sure she hates him instead.

"Don’t worry, Evelyn," I said softly, trying to ease her worry. "I’ll bring a sign language tutor here so she can start practicing for now."

EVELYN POVEven after all this time, coming back to this pack still stirs something deep inside me, a connection I wish I didn’t have. It feels like the ground remembers me. Leaving wasn’t easy. Even with Harriet in the hospital, it took me two days to pack. I made time because I had no choice. This wasn’t just another visit, it was something I couldn’t ignore. My Harry was in danger.Ahead, John’s car led the way, winding through familiar roads. He insisted on taking the lead, and I let him. Not because I didn’t remember the way I did but because he needed to feel in control. So I stayed quiet and let him. From the backseat, I caught glimpses of pack members turning their heads, trying to see into my car. The tinted windows kept me hidden. But I could feel their curiosity pressing against the glass, their need to know who had come with their Alpha. We stopped in front of a villa, a two-story building with walls so polished they looked newly built. The place felt untouched, like no on

EVEYLNI sighed and rolled my eyes as I started up the stairs. He followed closely behind, carrying Harriet in his arms. His grin widened, and for some reason, it made my chest feel heavy. When he asked me that question, I knew it wasn’t true—but still, I couldn’t bring myself to deny it. Why couldn’t I just tell him the real reason?Beta Andrew reached the top of the stairs and opened the first door. “Here we are,” he said, stepping inside.I followed him in. The room was spotless, with a neatly made bed and crisp sheets tucked perfectly in place. At least I wouldn’t have to worry about cleaning just unpacking and putting our clothes away in the cupboard.Bea wouldn’t be here until later, she’d told me earlier she had some things to take care of.Just as I opened my bag and started pulling out clothes to hang in the cupboard, my phone rang.I glanced at the screen and saw Elena’s name. A small smile tugged at my lips as I answered."Hey, babe! Where are you?" she asked curiously. "Be

EVEYLNThe moment we arrived at the villa, we rushed toward the commotion at the gate. Six men stood there, their tense stances making it clear they weren’t welcome. The guards had blocked their path, refusing to let them in.One was about to enter like he was trying again but the guard their shook his head, his hands still spread across the gate.Andrew stepped forward, his voice sharp. "And who the hell are you?" he demanded, eyes narrowing as we got closer. The men didn’t back down, but their heated glares bore down to those guards. I studied their faces carefully, and then it hit me, I recognized one of them. As if sensing it, they all shifted their attention to me, lowering their heads in respect. Not to John, who stood tall beside me, but to me alone."They say they’re from the NightShade Pack, Alpha," one of John’s warriors said, his tone laced with sarcasm, meanwhile John scoffed like he understood what the situation was. Of course, I already knew too that they were here beca

GIOVANNIAfter the meeting with Diane, I stormed out and as I reached my car, I slammed my hands onto the hood, the metal shuddering. Her smug little speech about her new plans echoed in my head, each word grating on my nerves like nails on a chalkboard."How the hell did she find out?" I muttered through clenched teeth, my voice sharp with anger. I glanced around the parking lot, my mind racing. Who told her? Does she have someone feeding her information? The thought made my blood boil. She was always one step ahead, always pulling strings I didn’t even know existed.Straightening up, I clenched my fists, a slow smirk creeping onto my lips. What can I use against her? How do I make sure she never tries to control me again?I shook my head, my jaw tightening. No one controls me, I growled, the fire inside me burning hotter. I’m Alpha Giovanni. I control and I don’t get controlled.I pulled into my private garage at the Pack, shutting off the engine. The low hum faded.Carlo came rushi

EVEYLNThe strong, scent of herbs and burning incense filled the air as we stepped into the Pack Witch’s cavern. It was filled with old skulls, bones and oil carrying the echoes of old rituals and quiet prayers to the Moon Goddess. This was a sacred place where sacrifices were made, secrets were shared, and the pack sought guidance from forces beyond our understanding.John and I sat on a long, worn bench, the softness of hare fur beside us. He leaned in and murmured, suggesting we summon her instead. I shook my head, firm. "No, we go to her. That’s how it’s done." As Alpha, he had the power to command otherwise, but tradition still mattered to me, at least. The old woman’s sharp eyes locked onto my son like daggers. He kept his head down, avoiding her stare. I could understand what he was feeling at that moment, the unease. It wasn’t surprising, there was something unsettling about the Pack Witch’s gaze, her brows furrowed but her eyes were wide.Pack witch's eyes are always like tha

EVEYLN John’s face went stiff the moment he saw her outside. It was obvious he hadn’t expected her to be there. Diane’s eyes found me first then her expression twisted, like she was surprised to see even my figure here since John didn't tell her about my coming to this Pack, before it hardened into anger. Her hands clenched into fists at her sides. She opened her mouth to say something, but before she could, a feminine voice spoke from behind her.“What’s going on out here? Come inside.”A middle-aged woman stepped into view, her diamond earrings catching the light. She had the kind of quiet authority that made it clear she was used to being listened to. Her sharp eyes flicked to Diane, who immediately softened, her expression shifting just enough to look composed.“Yes… Mum,” Diane said, her voice suddenly sweet and controlled. “It’s nothing, really. I just saw John outside with… her.” She gestured toward me, forcing a smile. “I guess I got a little upset.”The woman, John’s mother,

JOHNWhat did she even mean by that?"How is it too much?" Charles asked as he drank water from the glass cup and yes he was right about it."I'm just trying to help Eveyln" Diane barely looked up as she replied, she was a bit offended with what he said. "Because if she’s surrounded by controversy, it’s going to affect you and your campaign." Her fork clinked softly against her plate.I glanced at Evelyn. She looked tense, her jaw tight, but she kept eating, like she was trying to pretend the conversation wasn’t annoying her."Alright, that's enough," I snapped but in a low voice . "He was asking her, not you."Diane lifted her head, meeting my eyes with a concern laced in her voice. "I’m just worried about my father-in-law. That’s not wrong, is it?" Her voice was light, like she needed someone to tell her it was okay. The dinning room fell silent for a moment, the only sound coming from the quiet clinking of cutlery. EVEYLNMy mind raced, desperate for an excuse to leave. I shouldn’t have come here in the first place, and now there were only thirty minutes left until my son’s ritual. Time was slipping away too fast."Your kids… they’re Alpha John’s, aren’t they?" she asked.I froze, my eyes widened as I stared at her, completely shocked by her question. My plate was half empty and suddenly, I had no appetite at all."I knew it," she muttered, spinning her wine before placing the glass down with a quiet clink."So that’s why you joined this pack? To be with John?" she pressed, her gaze locked onto mine."No!" I blurted out, shaking my head. She couldn’t be more wrong. "I didn't join this Pack, like I said earlier...""If John asked you to rejoin this pack, would you?" she asked with a soft voice. but her eyes studied me closely."With all due respect, ma’am, I’ve moved on," I said, keeping my voice as calm as possible. EVEYLNI stood stiffly, arms crossed tight over my chest, unable to bring myself to sit beside John on the bench. My eyes stayed fixed on the clinic door, silently begging it to open.Solomon paced nearby, his shoes tapping nervously against the floor. His chest rose and fell in shallow breaths, like he was holding something back. I’d never seen his face so tense, his brows knotted with a worry that seemed deeper than mine like he knew her in a way I didn’t.The door finally creaked open."She survived it," Harn said, stepping out with a grin stretching across his face."Just thank the goddess she was brought in early," Harn said. "It looks like she was rushed here right after she slit her wrist."I let out a long, shaky sigh. The weight of everything finally hit me.Solomon stepped forward, facing Harn with urgency in his eyes. JOHN"Can I ask you something, Andrew?" I said, my voice low.He sat frozen, head bowed, shoulders trembling like he'd been caught in a storm. Drops of sweat trickled down his forehead."Is it true you've been sleeping with Diane?"His head snapped up. His eyes widened, lips parted, like the truth had sucker-punched him. Guilt danced in his expression as he hadn’t expected me to know, not about this. Not something that happened right under my roof.I'd overheard them last night, Diane hissing accusations at him, angry that he'd pulled away after she gave herself to him multiple times. The words were sharp, too sharp to ignore. My chest has felt tight since then. I couldn’t believe it. You think I’d just let you walk away from this place?”I gave him a faint smile. “As long as it’s for your kids and Giovanni doesn’t see a problem with it, then I’ll approve,” he added.I let out a quiet sigh. “I’ve noticed something, Simone.”He glanced over, curious. “What?”“Why don’t you come visit me at Silvermoon Pack?”He lifted his coffee cup, eyes avoiding mine. “Personal reasons,” he muttered before taking a sip.“I knew it,” I said, crossing my arms. “There’s no way you’d stay away this long unless something was wrong. EVEYLNI was in the kitchen, making sandwiches, just enough for John, Vera, and me. Once I finished, I set them out on the table and took a seat with mine.Halfway through my sandwich, John walked in and sat across from me. I put my spoon down and looked at him.“Hey,” I said, nodding toward the phone on the counter. “Call Bea and tell Harry you’re busy.”John frowned and shook his head. “I don’t lie like you do,” he said flatly.I sneered but didn’t bother replying. He picked up his sandwich and took a bite, keeping his eyes on me.“You made these, didn’t you?” he asked, chewing.I rolled my eyes. “Whatever.”I was nearly done with mine, so I grabbed a glass of warm milk and drank it in one go. The glass hit the table with a loud thud. "“I didn’t eat last night because of you,” I said, crossing my arms.“And that’s my fault?” John pointed at himself, eyes wide.I nodded. “I was expecting you to bring the food to my room. What? You’ve no idea how much it hurts not seeing her for nearly five days now.”My fingers twitched with the urge to slap him, but I settled for pressing a finger against his chest hard like that would change anything not knowing it would make him even more creepy.“It’s her life,” I said coldly. “And this is where you back off.”His smirk didn’t fade. “Or what?”I let out a sharp scoff. “She’s a child, Darwin. Giovanni’s voice rang out as he stood. Romain slowly turned his head toward him, confusion spread across his face.He stared at Giovanni like he couldn’t believe what he was hearing because why would Giovanni, of all people, be siding with John? After all, he had been the one to approach Romain with the very idea.Giovanni simply offered him a small smile.“Do you have a reason for your objection?” Romain asked, voice laced with suspicion.Giovanni nodded once, composed.John stared at him from across the room, brow furrowed. There was no trust in his expression, only confusion. The two of them were enemies. Why defend him now?“I understand the concern,” Giovanni began smoothly, addressing the council. “No one here wants to see the name of the New York City Council dragged through the mud. But removing an Alpha and stripping him of his voice and position, based on nothing but rumors? That’s not justice. That’s recklessness.”He let the words settle before continuing.“If we accuse hi

Gasps and murmurs rippled through the room at Alpha Romain’s announcement. No one had expected such a thing would be the first that he would say.Evelyn turned to John, eyes wide. He met her gaze.Of course, the first name that came to his mind was Giovanni.John had recently learned they’d been spending time together, Giovanni and Romain. It didn’t take much to guess what might have happened behind closed doors. Giovanni had influence, and Romain? Romain had a reputation for corruption. Bribe him, flatter him, and the man would hand over the moon if asked.“John…” Evelyn said softly, as her voice laced with concern. He sighed, and smiled at her like he was okay with it.“Not only because of the madness he just displayed tonight,” Alpha Romain continued, his tone dripping with disdain, “but there are rumors circulating which claim that he’s corrupt. That his Pack has grown weak.”A quiet stir passed through the hall, Evelyn scoffed under her breath, unable to hold it back.Coming fro

Evelyn took a deep breath and sank into the seat reserved for both her and John, right at the front, in the curved center of the U-shaped arrangement. It was a place meant for attention, and she felt every pair of eyes burning into her skin.“Wow, some couples can really be rude,” Darwin’s voice rang out again. “I was just greeting you both. What’s my offense now?”Neither John nor Evelyn gave him the satisfaction of a reply. She kept her gaze straight ahead, her jaw was clenched trying to ignore the weight of the stares she felt pressing on her from all directions. What she didn’t know was just how many of them, mostly men, were looking at her, whispering behind cupped hands and cocky grins.Until one voice cut through, loud and clear.“Is this the bitch from the nightclub?”“She’s the one? Damn... she’s gorgeous.”“She’s still a bitch,” another voice sneered. “If John hadn’t stepped in, we could’ve shared her that night.”Evelyn’s fists clenched at her sides. Her face turned toward

ANNUAL COUNCIL MEETING DAY"Are you okay? Diane is supposed to go, not me," Evelyn said as she stepped into her room, blocking the doorway just as John was about to follow. She shut the door behind her, leaving him outside. The meeting was only a few hours away, and she still couldn’t believe he’d asked her to come instead of Diane."I can't take her," John said from the hallway, his voice firm. "It’s you I want there."Evelyn hesitated, her hand lingering on the doorknob. "Are you sure your mum will be okay with that?" she asked. He gave a dry scoff in reply. She turned toward the wardrobe and pulled it open. A black gown with silver stones swayed gently on its hanger, catching the light. She stared at it, frozen for a moment. When she turned around, John was smiling through the narrow gap in the doorway.“Enough playing hard to get,” he said with a grin. “Come with me.”"John..." she started, her voice barely above a whisper. But he didn’t let her finish. “I’ll be back in an hour.”
