Panic set in as I thought of her being among the vampires killed by these hunters, but as I checked all the bodies, she was not among and there was no trace of her scent.

I guess she left even before the fight, but why would she do that when I thought she would help the other vampires to neutralize the hunters?

Then I saw how all the vampires were dead and realized she really made the right decision by leaving because I would also be mourning her now. That poisonous smoke would have also weakened her, and she would get killed.

I took a deep breath and sped towards Diane but someone's voice dree me back.

"You can't leave this pack because the borders are shut with a charm and more hunters are on their way to get you." I heard a low, weak voice and traced the direction.

It was Diane's mother lying on the ground. I thought I knocked her out.

"What do you mean?" I asked, staring coldly at her.

"Kane will never give up till he kills you and I don't really care about you but my daughter. She is also in the list to be killed, and I can't bear to watch my only daughter get beheaded."

"Why does he want to kill her?" My face contorted into a grimace as I drew closer to the woman who Diane had picked her entire resemblance from, including the blue eyes.

"Stop acting ignorant..." She seethed and coughed out blood. I squatted and helped her sit up from the floor, patting her back gently, but her eyes were still cold at me with deep hatred evident in them.

"Get off me, please," she spat out, squirming.

"I'm sorry." I mumbled, regretting ever hurting her. Diane's father was yet to get conscious as I had hit him harder.

"I just want to save my daughter, and that is the only reason I am doing this. I wonder why you chose her out of every lady in this world. She was just my innocent daughter who had big dreams and goal for her future, but you appeared in her life and destroyed her. Was that your mission in this pack?" She sniffed, tears rolling down both sides of her face as her eyes dimmed in sadness.

I couldn't say any word as the mixed feelings were messing me up, and I just don't know why. As a vampire prince, I shouldn't be having these emotions at all, but here I was, feeling the urge to feed her with my blood so she won't feel any pain again.

Diane had really changed me, and I was sure my parents would be very disappointed in me. How will I hide it from them? I can't show any public form of affection to Diane in the vampire kingdom or I would end up endangering her life.

"Take this badge. It is the only thing that can gain you access out of the border. Now get out of here and go save my daughter from dying. I really hope you truly love her because she just made a great sacrifice for you. I have no idea why!" She sighed as more tears fell.

"I hope one day I will invite you to our wed..."

"She is dead to me. Dead to every member of this pack, and the day she sets her foot here will be her last day on earth! I don't want to see her ever again. Go away. The hunters are close by!" Her voice faded as she pushed me off her.

I wanted to tell her about the unborn child but I couldn't. It would only hurt her more.

Without hesitation, I carried Diane on my back and switched to my vampire beast form, speeding away like the wind, my feet barely touching the ground as my heart pounded really hard in my chest.

"How did Zena pass through the border? She might still be in the pack!" My beast muttered in my ears, and I cursed, screeching to a stop.

I sniffed harder to see if I could trace her, but it was futile, so I continued my journey.

I could come back for her, but Diane has to be safe.

Just as I drew closer to the border, I caught her scent.

Was she stuck here?

I asked myself, increasing my pace as I looked out for her, and just as I got to the border, I saw her chained to the gate with two men facing her with a rod in their hand.

With rage, I pounced on them, right from behind without their prior notice. With Diane in one arm, I was still able to smash their heads on the ground, brains splattering.

"Oh God, you are alive..." Zena gasped out, her eyes watered as she gazed at me with so much joy while I broke off the chain.

"All thanks to Diane. She...".

"How are we crossing? Immediately that fight started, I snuck out with the plan to bring in the backup from the king, but I couldn't pass." She interrupted, not wanting to hear anything about Diane.

"It kept rebounding me no matter how hard I tried. That was how these two guards caught me and were forcing me to say my real identity." She explained, wiping the bloodstain on her face and knees.

"Diane's mother gave me her badge." I replied with a smile, and her eyes narrowed at me, lips curling into a sneer.

"What? Are you this dumb? You believed that thing would give us a free pass? What made you think that woman would help us leave this place after..."

Her voice hitched as the gate gave way the moment I placed the badge on the lock.

We both rushed out and the gate shut back by itself.

"Wow... I can't believe this." She mumbled.

"Diane’s mother helped me with the badge so I could get her daughter the treatment she needs. Let’s move. Fast!" I urged.

Zena scoffed and shook her head. "Don’t tell me you’re serious. This girl nearly got us all killed. Our men are dead. We barely survived all because of her. Leave her here. That’s the least revenge we—"

"Are you insane?" I snapped. "She’s carrying my baby! I don’t give a damn about her life, but my child is in her womb. Unfortunately. So yes, I must take care of her."

Although I was lying about not caring about about Diane, but that was the best excuse to keep her safe.

Zena hissed, jealousy and rage flashing in her eyes. She folded her arms and looked away. "You never agreed to have sex with me, but you knocked up a random low life werewolf."

"It was a mistake. I have told you countless times." I growled then took off using my vampire speed. Zena did the same, trailing behind but not stopping nagging as she fumed.

"Why do such a mistake with the stupid hunter daughter! A hunter daughter, of all people What happened to protection when mingling with werewolves just as the king instructed? Your parents might never accept that child; I hope you know that." She sounded so aggravated and bittered but I kept quiet, ignoring her continuous complain and whining.

She kept sending dagger glare at Diane laying in my arms, hatred and aversion brimming in her eyes.

I knew Diane's life wouldn't be the same again. In the vampire kingdom, she may face something worse than imagined.

Diane's POV “Speed and agility are her strengths. She can vanish in a flicker of shadow and attack from behind, hitting parts of your body that are weak and vulnerable. That’s her tactic.” Leo began teaching me as usual in the private room. Here, no one else can enter, and it was built for his meditation session. According to what he told me, this was a place he hid and wallowed in grief and sorrow over the loss of his mother for years. He would sometimes go feral, breaking everything in his path, roaring and inflicting injuries on himself. In that state, no one around him was safe. That was why a place like this was made and set aside for him.Last night, I came here for training, but he wasn’t around. I heard a rumor that his primal beast had surfaced again, and he had vanished into the forest late in search of someone no one was aware of.Today he is normal again and has begun to train and give me lectures on how I would defeat Zena.He hadn’t mentioned anything about last night,

“Reina!” My voice cracked, heart dropping into my stomach as I ran to her collapsed figure on the ground and lifted her into my lap.Blood smeared her face, and she clung to me in panic, her pale eyes brimming with tears.“Please… save me. I don’t want to die…” Her voice trembled, lips quivering as she looked up at me like I was her last hope—even though she already knew I was a vampire.“Don’t worry. Breathe. Breathe. Take a deep breath. You’re safe now.” I said to her, but she still shook, her chest rising and falling heavily.“He chased me down and attacked me,” she whimpered. “His eyes were full of venom, and he wanted to suck my lifeblood! He’s not like you—he’s different. What did I do to him to deserve this?”I saw the wounds on her body and knew immediately—Leo must have had another flashback of his mother tonight. Those memories always turned him into a monster. And when he recalled that Reina had returned to her pack, he must have hunted her down, unable to resist the opport

The moonlight glowed brighter on his skin, his eyes glistening like ripples on a river as they pierced into mine.He wore a sparkling white shirt tucked into blue trousers, the sleeves rolled up to reveal beautifully inked tattoos along his arms. The shirt was unbuttoned halfway, exposing a broad, sculpted chest.Though the shirt was neatly tucked in like a professor’s, his tousled brown hair gave him a rugged charm.“That was an interesting battle to watch,” he said, his deep voice resonating as if it were speaking directly to my soul. A subtle smile played on his lips.I stood frozen, mouth slightly open, eyes locked on him. I couldn’t tell if this was real or some vivid hallucination. He stepped closer, hands casually tucked in his pockets stood close, his tall figure towering over my small frame. My breath caught.I raised my gaze to meet his, and his smile made my stomach flutter like it was filled with butterflies.“I enjoyed the show,” he said, winking before shifting his eyes

My voice shook as I spoke, the words hitching in my throat. “You did what?”My eyes locked on Jaden, searching for a flicker of doubt, wondering if it was my ears tricking me. But his lips curled into a smirk, his shoulders squared with a smug confidence.“How could you, Jaden?” I said, my voice barely above whispers, my fingers clutching at the edge of my sleeves.“We are not here for long talks!” Jaden’s father's voice was a low growl as his claws elongated in readiness. “Start saying your last prayer because your end is now.”I stepped back, my heels hitting a splintered wood. “My father trusted you,” I muttered, my breath hitching. “He made you his Beta because he believed in your loyalty. Are you really going to ambush his daughter?”His laughter was sharp, like shattering glasses. “You brought it on yourself when you decided to embarrass us and make a mockery of us in the pack’s eyes!”I could feel my pulse racing as he leaned in closer, his hot breath fanning my face and the st

Reina's POV“Here is the woman…” He pointed in the dark room; pride and satisfaction laced his voice.“Isn’t she dead already?” I narrowed my eyes at the motionless body of the woman lying in shackles. Her whole body was bruised, cut deeply and burnt. She was clothed with wounds and had nothing to cover her naked body.“No, she is not dead, but I can assure you, death is the only prayer she offers to her god, as it would save her from the intense torture that never ends. It has been years now.”I stepped closer and squatted in front of her. As if my presence gave a bit of strength, I saw her eyelids flutter and her numb fingers budge.“You deserve this and even more for what you did to my innocent mother. All the evil you and your people have committed must be accounted for!” I seethed at her and watched as her eyes opened slowly, those eyes all dead.I couldn’t tell if she could see me clearly because her eyes were red and drooling.“Your son and husband will join you soon. That is t

Diane’s POVJust as I prayed for, they didn’t go further in the torture after my fight challenge with Zena was stamped. The satisfaction in their eyes said it all. How they really can’t wait for that day when they will see me get beaten up and killed at last.“You can go back to your room. The uniform will be sent to you tomorrow, and you can start school. Join any class of your choice and do as much training as you can in the five days you have.” The king said it with finality, and I only nodded, my mouth heavy to open and say anything. All my life I have depended on luck to survive. Every time I faced death or a dangerous threat, luck pulled up for me, and somehow, I would end up escaping and being the winner.Five days from now, I will be needing the greatest luck of my life because Zena needed nothing else but my headless body. She would do everything possible not to lose this opportunity to put an end to me. Jealousy had eaten deep inside her. She had seen me as a threat from the
