Chapter 19

As I stepped out of the hall, I met with Selene, who seemed to be waiting for me.

"My prince," she called, and my head snapped towards her with a dagger glare on my face.

"Don't call me that! What the fuck do you mean by prince?!" I snarled, my eyes burning as I fought the urge to strangle her dead.

She followed as I made my way out of the building, confusion written all over her face.

"I am sorry. But...but...you told me to always call you that. What happened inside the..."

"Can you please shut up! I don't want to hear your voice. I don't even want to see you anywhere around me!" My voice was loud enough to draw the attention of everyone close, but I gave no fuck.

My heart was just so heavy and each steps was becoming harder as the voice of the Alpha echoed in my head. My breath coming in gasps as I tried to make sense of everything.

The car door was opened for me, and I slid in, gritting my teeth. My father was still in there having a fun time with the Alpha to celebrate the new incoming Alpha.

Sometimes I wonder how that fool became my father! Shouldn't he be fuming, knowing his son won't be the king? He should be here planning with me how we would change our fate and become who we dreamed of being.

No. He was right in there like the loyal dog he had always been.

"Jaden, you can talk to me about anything. We can find a way out. I saw Diane's parent being taken out in chains, and I thought you would come out in excitement. Why..."

I scoffed, shaking my head as my nose flared. "It turned out I will never be the Alpha. The king has a fucking daughter who is 20! hidden somewhere, and now she would be back to take what I deserved!" My breath was fast, and my eyes were red and wild as I stared at the castle with fury.

"I can't believe this. What do you mean?" She said in gasps, covering her mouth.

"I have helped the Alpha so many times, and even now I exposed Diane's parent. All these I did without knowing I would be trashed. Gosh, I feel like shit right now!"

"We have to cool our heads and think. You shouldn't give up yet because I believe you will surely be the next Alpha. Nobody can take that from you!" She tried to give me hope, but none of that was working.

I knew it was over. Alpha Kane's eyes said it all with the way they glimmered while he talked about his daughter as the new Alpha.

"I will kill this fucking daughter of his if that is what it will take to be the next Alpha. I will do it!" I mused, my fist balled as veins stalked through.

"Whatever you will do shouldn't be at this moment. You need to act as normal as possible because Alpha Kane will have his watchful eyes on you. If he finds out your intention, there would be no mercy or pity. He will slay you." She whispered, and I heaved a deep breath, knowing full well that she was right.

"I thought you hated me for what I did to your friend, Diane?"

"I do. But my love for you is stronger, and I can't bear seeing you get killed or go through any pain." She replied, and I shrugged, not believing a single word from her.

What she doesn't know is that I would never marry a girl who easily betrayed her friend of many years. She only did that to be my queen, and till now she still believed I would get the throne, which was the only reason she was still sticking around.

I would dump her when she least expected it.

"I have heard you. Now leave. I need to be alone," I said curtly, and I could see how pained she was, but I didn't care.

She stepped down from the car and said, "Please don't be too hard on yourself."

I gave her no response but wound up the car window before turning to the driver and speaking to him through mind link. "Take me to the nearest club!"

"Okay, sir," he said before igniting the car.

Just then my phone rang, and it was my father. I hissed aloud, rolling my eyes before answering the call with a deep frown.

"Yes?"

"I hope you aren't stupid enough to think you can stand against the Alpha, right?"

I sneered. "What are you saying?"

"You know exactly what I am talking about. I saw your furious expression after hearing about the Alpha's daughter, and I know you may be thinking about something crazy. Don't dare!" He said in a warning tone.

"I don't understand what you are talking about." I scoffed, fighting the urge to hang the call on him.

"It hurts me too, but we have no choice. We must be on good terms with the Alpha and show him our loyalty. That man can kill the both of us if he suspects we would betray him because of the alpha position. We stand no chance against him, so please..."

"I have heard you. Can I hang the call now? I am already dizzy with all of this."

He heaved as though he knew I wasn't going to relent. "Take my warning. I don't want to lose you to the wrath of that dangerous Alpha." He breathed before ending the call.

"Fuck!" I cursed, flinging the phone away, my blood running hot. I hate that my father surrendered so fast like a coward and it really made me mad. I just can't wait to see the girl who had appeared from nowhere to snatch my dreams away.

If only she was killed alongside her mother.

Why the fuck did the vampires not murder both of them?

But wait, Leo really came to this pack as a teacher to capture the Alpha's daughter as soon as she returns and gets enrolled?

Shit! I wish I knew earlier. I really wish I knew about his mission; I would have helped him succeed!

Maybe it is not too late after all. I will give them the information they need as long as they get rid of that obstacle.

Nobody can stop me!

I must be the next Alpha.
