Adrian's P.O.V

I flattened myself against the ornate pillars, hiding in the shadows as Cassandra approached the guarded corridor of Kensington's West Hall.

“My lady, I'm afraid you can't go in." One of the guards stepped forward to block her.

“How dare you try to stop me?" She fumed. “Are you so blind that you can't even recognize who I am anymore?"

The guard bowed his head slightly but stood his ground. “I do, my lady, but-”

Adrian P. O. V“What point are you trying to make exactly?” Cassandra asked, breaking the awkward silence. “These are the letters my husband had to write his entire life. Every apology, every explanation, and every compromise he made to protect the Devonsol family name. And even after becoming king, he still wasn’t spared from this embarrassment."Cassandra shook her head, chuckling bitterly. “That isn't true. Leon wasn't like that… He wouldn't lower himself just to apologize for my mistakes."Elara's face remained cold. “Then why don't you go ahead and read it yourself?"Cassandra picked up a letter, opened it, and began to read.“This… This can't be true," Her eyes widened as she quickly tossed the first one aside and picked up another. By the time she reached for the third letter, her leg gave way as she collapsed to the ground. I quickly moved to her side, trying to help her

Samantha's P.O.VOkadale Manor By the time I arrived at the manor, my entire body was soaking wet. The rain had beaten me the whole way, like it was determined to slow me down. But I couldn't turn back now, not when I was so close to figuring out the truth.I didn't understand why, but my first instinct was to hide and observe the surroundings, and I did so without hesitating. Within a few minutes of my arrival, the entire manor was sealed off by guards who chose to drown themselves in the rain instead of taking shelter. “Why are there so many of them?” I wondered, blinking the rain from my eyes. If only I had known this was going to happen, I would have squeezed out more information from Ashford before knocking him out. Now, it was too late. I was stuck in the rain, with no backup plan. But on the bright side, it looked like my suspicion wasn't wrong after all. The guards were protecting the manor like it was a fortress, and I could tell something big was going on inside. I s

Now, step aside”. The guard hesitated, still refusing to budge.Cassandra's face darkened. “You don't believe me? Fine. Take a closer look for yourself."She shoved the token into his face, and he quickly took a step back. “I—I apologize, my lady. We didn't know…"Cassan

Samantha's P. O. VRed lanterns floated in the sky, forming a pathway of fire under the gibbous moon. The pack gathered under Night whisper, the only tree that had managed to grow in this deserted land. On this sacred night, they seemed to be expressing their grief in different ways. Some stood still, staring blankly at the floating lanterns as if seeing something invisible to others. While a few others went overboard, throwing themselves around and creating a huge scene just so everyone could see how much they were hurting. I rolled my eyes, sighing bitterly. What was it they truly wanted? An audience? Or did they think crying harder would be enough to bring back the dead? “Hey,” Ashford nudged my shoulder. “I had to spend the past two hours sweet-talking a stubborn old lady just to get you the last available lantern. So are you just going to stand there and stare at it all day?"

Adrian's P.O.VRoyal Study“In matters of state, the Alpha's word is binding... Diplomacy is a weapon sharper than any sword… An alpha's temper is a liability; control is key…”The words came effortlessly, like I'd known them forever. I could see Master Oriel's face swelling with pride as I continued speaking. “And in audience, the Alpha must listen more than he speaks and be ever ready to protect his pack at all cost,” Master Oriel applauded loudly, looking thoroughly pleased. “Well done, your highness,” he cheered. “You've shown remarkable progress since your return. A vast and commendable improvement indeed”. I smiled back. “It's all thanks to your teaching, Master Oriel. I wouldn't have gotten this far without you”. Master Oriel quickly waved a hand. “Serving the Royal's family has been the greatest honor of my life. And I have no doubt that your parents will

Adrian's P.O.VThe surrounding fog began to clear, revealing my footprints, and immediately I realized the closeness between me and the drop-off; I staggered back. _One more step and I would have been history_But worst of all? This was the same mountain I had escaped from months ago. So how did I end up here again?“Adrian,” a soft but familiar voice called from behind. I pressed my lips together and turned slowly to find Samantha, staring at me with those beautiful hazel eyes that once meant the world to me before my brother's death changed everything. “Samantha, is it really you?” My entire body trembled as I pulled her into a tight hug. “Are you sure you're okay?” She pressed a hand to my forehead. “You were gone for like five minutes, and now you're acting like you've never seen me before." “I shook my head, refusing to let go. “No, no. I'm fi
