I gathered the flowers in my hands and smiled. Today is the day I will be Mated to the future Alpha of Red Moon pack–Theodore.
Father had fixed this day because the pink moon will be rising today, indicating extra blessings to the new couple. As I walked closer to the door, chartered laughter echoed in my ears. Everyone was already preparing for the big event—starting from adults to children. Young and old, they were all happy to see the new Luna of Red Moon pack, and as the future Luna, I had to get prepared. I discovered that Theodore is my mate sometime last month when I turned 18. It was like a dream, especially because he had also been my boyfriend since high school. Once he claims me as his mate, he will officially become the next Alpha of our pack. Everyone was aware that Theodore would be the new Alpha of Red Moon pack, but they never knew that I am his fated Mate. “Sai… Sai!” a voice yelled out, calling my name again and again. She wasn't even catching her breath, just repeating it nonstop. At last, I turned around and saw Lola’s mom, our Luna. She is my stepmother, and Father had announced her as his Luna after my mother—his first Luna, disappeared without a trace. Whenever I asked where Mom was or why she ran, they always came up with lies. But I believed the rumors—that Lola’s mom, Beatrice, arrived in the pack one fateful night with a child, claiming it was Father’s. Mom couldn’t bear the betrayal, so she ran off. She wanted to take me with her, but Father refused. “I’ve been calling out to you! Why didn’t you respond?” Beatrice asked, her face wrinkled in disgust. “I didn’t hear you... Besides, you don’t usually like saying my name, so what changed?” I replied with the rudest tone I could manage. “Are you speaking to me like that?” she snapped. “Don’t worry, I’ll tell your father about this—and you know what he’ll do if he hears...” She turned to walk out, but I grabbed her fist, pulling her to a halt. “It’s okay, I didn’t mean to say that,” I said quickly, forcing myself to sound polite. I kept my face turned away; I didn’t want to see the victorious smile that would surely cross her lips. She’s always been good at lying, and she might twist things to ruin this special day. “What do you want me to do for you?” I asked, fixing my eyes firmly on the lounge. “I want you to go call Lola. She’s in her room. I need to dress her for this special day!” she said sharply. I turned without looking at her. I could have easily declined, but no—I didn’t want anything to spoil this day for me. As I approached Lola’s room, I started hearing faint noises—something like moaning or was it the sound of skin slapping? When I got closer, the sounds became louder and clearer. I had to peep into the room opposite Lola’s—and there, I saw two naked bodies riding on each other. “Oh yes, I love it… continue!” the lady moaned. I tried to place the voice. It wasn’t familiar. I sighed. At least, it wasn’t my sister. I assumed they were pack maids or someone else. But just when I turned to leave the room, I noticed two things. One—the man making love had a tattoo I’d seen before. Two—that room wasn’t for servants. That was… Theodore’s room! “Theodore!” I gasped softly and stepped back immediately. I opened the door—and boom—I was right! Theodore was the one riding the woman. “What is going on here?” I managed to say, my voice already breaking. Then I looked closely to see who the woman was… It was Lola. My stepsister! “I asked, what the hell are you both doing here?” I shouted, my voice echoing. Theodore quickly jumped off Lola’s body. When he saw me, he looked shocked to the core. I saw Lola hurriedly covering her chest with the bedsheet, and Theodore pulled on his underwear, standing there with that unapologetic expression. “What are you doing here, Sai? Did you forget how to knock before entering, or have you lost your manners?” he asked coldly. I was speechless. Was this really Theodore speaking? “How can you ask me that kind of question, Theodore? I just caught you cheating on me with my sister, and instead of being remorseful, you're scolding me for not knocking? Where are your manners?” I snapped. Then I turned to Lola in anger. “You really know how to steal what doesn’t belong to you, don’t you? Just like your mother, you’re trying to take my mate away? Are you really that shameless, huh?” I couldn’t control my rage. Lola had always done this—stealing the things that brought me joy. Since childhood, she would turn my friends against me, take my toys, claim everything Father bought for me. And now she’s sleeping with my boyfriend—my mate? “Theodore doesn’t love you, Sai!” Lola hissed, finally dropping the act. That was her real self, her rude, unmasked tone. “He only accepted you as his girlfriend because he wanted to become the Alpha of our pack. Come on, Theodore, tell her the truth. Tell her this was all pretend, and you never really loved her,” she said as she traced a finger along Theodore’s bare chest. I stared at him, waiting. Waiting to hear the lie. “Lola’s right, Sai,” he said at last. “She’s the one I love. Whether I mate you or not, I’ll still become Alpha. Besides, you don’t even have a wolf, but Lola does. You’re weak, and she’s strong. She’s a better Luna than you’ll ever be.” My heart shattered into a thousand pieces. Tears spilled from my eyes as I heard those cruel words from him. I instinctively held my stomach, as the doctor’s voice echoed in my mind. “You are pregnant, Miss Sai. It’s a baby girl…” I had planned to tell Theo after our mating ceremony. But now he had Lola by his side. Just as I opened my mouth to speak, Theodore walked up to me and said, “It’s always been a joke. I only wanted the Alpha title by mating you. But Lola promised to make me her Alpha, so I don’t need to pretend anymore. It’s time to end this…” “What do you mean?” I asked, sniffing through the tears. Suddenly, Theodore grabbed my hand tightly. The pain was sharp, but he didn’t seem to care. He stared into my eyes and declared coldly, “I, Theodore Kaiser, Future Alpha of Red Moon pack, reject you, Sai Ray, as my mate!”
{The Doctor’s POV}Hearing what this woman had just said, my mind went blank—then spiraled into chaos. Is she really going to kill me?Is she actually going to end my life? Just like that?Even after all the truth I had confessed to her?I shook my head, my body trembling uncontrollably with fear. Every part of me wanted to believe this was some horrible nightmare.Everything I had said, every word that escaped my lips, had been for one reason only—to leave this place alive and go back to my wife. For years now, she’s been in police custody, trapped because of the debts we owed. The only way to get her back was to pay off every last cent. That was why I agreed to Ivy’s plan in the first place. I wanted the money—yes—but not for greed. I wanted it to save my wife’s life. And then, out of nowhere, Lola kidnapped me. She forced me into this dark corner, demanding I tell the truth or die.But dying was the last thing on my list.I can’t die. Not yet.Because I have a wife. And I have two
{The Doctor’s POV}In response to what the Luna had just asked, I nodded, my eyes bulging wide with fear.I didn’t know what to say anymore. I thought I had the courage—I thought I had the heart to speak the truth—but the fear of Sai was already living rent-free in my head. My mind was a mess. I couldn’t think straight, and before I could gather my thoughts, the Luna’s voice broke through, loud and chaotic.“I won’t ask you this damn question again!” she thundered. “This is your last chance to tell me the truth. If you don’t, you’ll die right here!”I shook my head quickly, trying to speak, but she didn’t let me.“Tell me, Doctor!” she roared, straightening up as her voice echoed through the room. “Was it Sai who told you to ruin my mother’s face, or was it someone else? You can lie to yourself all you want, but you can never—never—lie to me!”Her glare burned into my soul as she stretched her hand to the side. One of her men immediately handed her a gun. She pointed it straight at my
{The Doctor’s POV}Immediately after I said that, I noticed the Luna’s eyes slowly returning to normal. It was as if she was forcing herself to control the rage that had consumed her moments ago. That desperate fire in her gaze—the one that screamed her desire to kill me—was fading away.My heart thumped hard as I kept my eyes on her. She began walking toward me, her steps slow but deliberate. The deadly hunger in her eyes softened, replaced by something else—an urgency. An urgency to know the truth. To finally hear the thing her heart had been yearning for all these years. And before I could even blink, she was already in front of me.Her hand shot out and clamped tightly around my neck. I froze. She leaned closer, her voice dangerously calm as she spoke.“Alright then. You managed to earn yourself a soft spot from my anger. Good job. Well done.”She smiled faintly, but her smile didn’t bring comfort—it sent chills crawling down my spine.“But this thing you just said…” she continued
{The Doctor’s POV}Immediately after saying this, she forced my mouth open wider and slid the burning candle between my lips.My eyes shut instinctively as I prayed—desperately—that nothing worse would happen. But my prayers went unanswered.A drop of hot, melting wax landed on my tongue. It was the candle wax.“Orughhhhhhhhh!” I tried to scream, but the sound barely escaped. My voice was trapped—muffled by the pain and the thick, bubbling saliva that filled my mouth. The scorching heat spread across my tongue, burning through every nerve. But my suffering didn’t matter to Lola. She pressed my mouth open even tighter, forcing my jaw wider as more drops of molten wax fell inside. Each drop felt like fire, searing through my tongue and throat. I tried to twist away, to shake my head, to scream—but her grip was too strong. My whole body shook violently under the pain.Still, she didn’t stop.More wax.More pain.More of her laughter echoing above my muffled cries.I wanted to confess at
{The Doctor’s POV}She stepped outside for a brief moment, brushing her hair back as she exhaled slowly. Then, turning to face me, she said with a bitter smile,“I knew you were stubborn, Doctor. But I never realized you were this stubborn. I mean, I never knew you could be stubborn to the point where you’d need physical pressure before finally confessing the truth!”My lips trembled. My body was drenched in sweat as I tried to make sense of everything unraveling before me.“What do you mean by that, My Luna?” I asked, my voice cracking under the weight of fear. She let out a sharp laugh. “I gave you several chances to do this the easy way, Doctor. But what path did you choose? You chose the tormenting one.”Her eyes glinted with cold amusement as she stepped closer. “And you should know by now the type of person I am, shouldn’t you? I’m not someone who gives up easily on the things she cherishes. That includes the truth… and the love of my life—Theodore!”Her tone softened slightly w
{The Doctor's POV}The gun was pointed directly at my head.My body was present in the room, but my mind had long drifted into the void of fear. Paralysis took over me—my hands trembled, my lips quivered, and my legs shook uncontrollably. I was no longer thinking straight. Panic had swallowed every ounce of logic I had left.Still, somehow, amidst the chaos in my head, I found the strength to speak.“My Luna… I’m telling you the truth. I don’t know anything about the Keloid Scarring X, and I swear on my life—I wasn’t sent to ruin your mother’s face...”Her voice came back cold and sharp, like the edge of a dagger laced with venom.“So you’re fucking with me, am I right?” she said quietly, the calmness in her tone more terrifying than if she had screamed.I shook my head desperately. “I am not fucking with you, My Luna. I don’t know anything about—”She cut me off mid-sentence, her tone rising with fury as she jabbed her finger toward a briefcase in the corner of the room.“So what on
