[Lola’s POV]

“Somebody help her!”

“Is she still alive?”

“How did she even get here?”

The voices rose like thunder in the hall, crashing one after the other in a wave of panic.

I didn’t wait. The moment I saw the chandelier crash down on Sai’s body, I ducked back into hiding. I couldn’t let anyone see my face—not now. Not when everything had gone perfectly.

And hearing all those panicked voices, all the frightened gasps and gasping cries…

I smiled.

A deep, satisfied smile curled on my lips.

It worked.

It really worked!

There’s no way anyone could survive something like that. Not even her. She doesn't have a wolf to protect her, no second life to bank on. If she were a true werewolf, maybe—just maybe—her wolf could’ve died in her place and given her a slim shot at survival.

But Sai? She was wolfless.

Which meant…

She was dead.

Finally.

I brought out my phone, fingers eager to dial my men and thank them for a job beautifully executed.

But then—

~SaiI locked eyes with Theodore—and without hesitation—I shoved his hand off me like it was poison. My glare burned into him.“Don’t you ever think of touching me, Theodore!” I snapped, voice sharp as broken glass. “You’ve lost every right to lay a finger on me, let alone speak to me in that tone.”He didn’t blink. He just stood there, frozen and brooding, his eyes filled with something darker than rage—betrayal. But I didn’t care. I wasn’t afraid of him. I wasn’t afraid of anyone anymore, and certainly not the man who once tore my soul apart. He let out a slow, shaky breath, trying to rein in the storm brewing inside him.“I know exactly what you're after, Sai,” he said, his voice laced with tightly restrained fury. “You’re desperate for revenge. That’s why you pushed Beatrice into the chandelier… wasn’t it?”I let out a scoff, tilting my head at him. “Oh, you saw that?” I asked, eyes narrowing, my voice taunting. “I didn’t realize you were watching when I pushed Beatrice. ~ SaiI didn’t waste a second after that chaotic scene—I slipped out, heading straight to the reception. That was where I originally came to book an appointment with the doctor… to check the health of my womb. But honestly? Nothing felt better than clapping back at Lola using the very trap she had set for me.The same pit she dug with her own hands? She ended up falling into it.That’s what happens when you try to mess with someone who’s two steps ahead. You see, I had to use my head—and not just a little.I knew Lola was planning something—something ugly. She had been brewing something ever since she eavesdropped on my conversation with Theodore. She thought I didn’t notice her, but I did.I saw her when I stepped out of the restroom. She was hidden behind the wall, thinking she was slick… thinking I was too dumb to catch her.But the expression on her face gave everything away—The fury. The jealousy. The burning hatred.I could already tell she was scheming something dangerous.Whe

[Lola's POV]“Okay, I will be there in no time!”I responded, panic forming all over me in an instant. I turned to Sai one more time, giving her that look which was clear enough to tell her that I am not done with her! Then I walked out.As I walked out of the banquet, I could hear Theodore calling out to me but I refused to listen to him. I got outside and drove off with the car. He can order an Uber, I don't care! When I got to the hospital, I went to the receptionist and asked the nurse in charge.“Beatrice Ray!”She looked at me, saying, “My Luna! I guess your mother is in ward 48!”I smiled at her. “Thank you!”Then I rushed over to the said ward where the nurse in reception said my mom was. When I got there, they were still operating on her. I glanced through the hole at the door and saw the nurses as well as the surgeons all around my mother.I quickly remembered how supportive she had been to me.Mother had narrated that I am the only child she had even though she has been in

[Lola’s POV]Without wasting another second, I stepped away from the balcony and dashed down the stairs, rage and panic burning in my chest.“Mother! Mother!” I screamed, my voice breaking, more terrified than I had ever been. The crowd had already started clearing the path. The ambulance had arrived, sirens piercing through the chaos. But I couldn’t let them take her. Not yet.My mother wasn’t dead. She couldn’t be!That was the lie I kept telling myself as I fell to my knees beside her, hands trembling as I touched her blood-soaked body.“Let the medical team do their job, Lola. Please…” Theodore said softly, crouching beside me, his eyes filled with pity.I ignored him, clutching my mother’s hand tightly as I looked at her face.Shards of glass from the chandelier were still embedded in her skin. Her entire body looked limp, her chest barely moving, her eyes shut tight like they had no intention of opening again. I refused to accept it. She couldn’t die like this. Not because of my

[Lola's POV]“Ladies and Gentlemen, I officially welcome you to the 2024 ALPHA Ball Party!”The Chief-in-Council’s voice echoed across the grand hall, halting my steps toward the restroom. We’ve been here for hours. Or maybe it just feels like that. I’ve been waiting—without Theodore by my side. He said he was going to the restroom, but it’s been far too long. The dancers had already come and gone. The Alpha Princesses had taken the stage in their glittering gowns. Even the crowd had shifted into whispers of boredom and scattered conversations. But still—no Theodore.Just as I turned to go look for him again, the Alpha Chief launched into his welcome speech.“The Alpha Night Ball has never failed to bring the joy of unity among all the Alphas and Lunas in District Xi. And this year’s edition… promises to be the grandest of them all!”Eyes from every corner fixed on the Chief Alpha, the man who always gave the first speech and handed out the awards.I scanned the crowd again.
