Chapter 1: The weak Omega

Selene entered the palace like everyone else to celebrate the ball in the palace. Her mother and her two sisters were beside her. Humans and werewolves were present, and the palace walls were painted gray with a mixture of white. A statue of a wolf was positioned beside the hall entrance.

When she got inside the hall filled with people, the ceilings were adorned with beautiful chandeliers and burning lanterns, casting a warm glow that embraced the hall, making it look more enchanting and mesmerizing.

The girls giggled among themselves, and the people were busy talking with one another in the hall.

Selene's sisters were approached by their mates, and they began to talk while Selene stood in one corner of the hall with her mother.

Gentle music played in the background, and everyone began to dance. The soothing music eased Selene’s heart and mind. She found herself swaying to the music alone.

Almost everyone in the village knew she was a weak wolf who couldn't shapeshift, and they couldn’t approach her because they saw her as bad luck.

She is a weak she wolf with no powers as a werewolf. She was hated by people in their packs and village. Maybe a weak Omega but she wasn't sure.

Lost in her world, oblivious to everything around her, she didn’t even realize she was already among the people dancing until she suddenly felt someone pull her from behind, making her twirl to face the figure.

She could tell it was a male from the texture of the hands holding her waist and the broad chest pressed into hers.

“Mi Lord,” she started, only to look up, and her eyes met the dark orbs of the man before her. His eyes were burning like a volcano, and judging by his appearance, she could see he was from a strong werewolf pack.

His dark eyes stare at her as if sizing her up to check something. His full, pink lips curled up into a smirk. His long, dark eyelashes threw Selene into a trance state.

She was enchanted by his handsomeness. This man before her was undoubtedly handsome, and he looked to be in his late twenties.

"Mi lord, you cannot hold a young and unmarried woman." She muttered when she managed to find her voice back.

Looking at the man, it felt as if her soul had been ripped out of her body. Her heartbeat accelerated as she felt a strange pull in her chest.

“Milord” she repeat, her voice barely above a whisper.

Selene was stunned that she hadn’t stuttered. He leaned in, as if he hasn't heard her. His lips nearing her hair as he pulled her closer, the rhythmic thudding of her heart echoing in her chest as she grappled with the right words.

“What is he doing?” She asked herself silently, her gaze locked with his.

"A fragile human like you couldn't be my destined mate. Humans are delicate, aging swiftly, fated to dissipate like a mere speck of dust," he declared before releasing her waist.

Selene found herself thrown off balance by the words uttered by the mysterious man before her.

"His mate?" she pondered, perplexed that this handsome stranger would recognize her as such, especially when she couldn't even sense her wolf at all.

"What do you mean, I'm your mate?" She asked, not caring about what he said after.

She didn't mind him calling her human, and she was ready to do anything for him if he was her fated mate.

Rayne scoffed at her comment, as he couldn't believe Marvin was wrong this time. How could a weak human be his fated mate, as powerful as he is?

He knew the packs would mock him, and the ministers would try every possible way to bring him down. She would only be a threat to him, and he wasn't ready to protect a weak human.

As the music ceased, he caught her scrutinizing him intently, awaiting his response. However, he wasn't prepared to address her question just yet.

Rayne felt his wolf communicating with him in silent whispers, urging him to claim her, intensifying the simmering anger within him even further.

Bathed in the warm glow of the burning lanterns, she stared at him with her full pink lips slightly parted, inhaling the air around her. Her long brown hair cascaded down her shoulders, accentuating the feminine curve of the flowing red dress she wore. His gaze traveled down her body.

A unique, sweet scent enveloped him, weakening his resolve as he stared at her. Rayne observed her shock face at the revelation. He could see the dilation of her pupils, it felt as if she was gauging her words.

Rayne turned his back towards her, leaving her question unanswered, and walked away with the determination to restrain his inner desires.

“She is the one. Claim her" A voice said in his head, which he ignored as he walked away from the woman.

After regaining her composure, Selene made her way towards the mysterious man when she noticed him walking away.

She held her long dress with her right hand, scanning the crowd for him, but he had already disappeared from her sight.

Selene stood there, stunned by the way he walked so swiftly, effortlessly evading her wide-eyed gaze. Lost amid the people dancing, she found herself pulled back by her mother, her heart pounding loudly in her chest.

"Selene, why do you seem lost? Where are you running off to?" Her mother inquired in a calm tone, her voice etched with worry. She dragged Selene alongside her as they both stood beside the table arranged in the hall, the music resuming its lively melody.

Selene wiped the sweat off her hands with her dress, her eyes quickly surveying the hall before settling down on a chair, her mother doing the same.

“Mother, I have found my mate," Selene said in excitement as she hugged her mother tight. Her eyes glowed with excitement, and Irene could see this.

“What?" Her mother exclaimed in excitement. “Selene, your wolf... did your wolf just recognize him?" Her mother asked as she released herself from the embrace.

"Tell me how you got to know Selene." Selene became sad at her mother's question, and Irene noticed it.

"I didn't sense my wolf, mother, and my wolf didn't sense him." She explained with her hands resting on her thighs.

“Then what happened?" Her mother asked in anticipation.

“He recognized me first. He came to me and told me I'm his fated mate, and..." Selene stopped abruptly, as she didn't know if she was supposed to tell her mother. The man had told her she could not be his mate because she was weak.

“Where is he, Selene? We need to see him." She said it quickly, with excitement evident in her voice.

“I was looking for him just now." Her chest rose and fell slowly as she glanced around the hall.

"Stay calm, Selene. He will come back to you. Two fatee mate can never be separated. He is your destined mate, your soulmate," her mother reassured. Selene made every effort to calm her nerves and relax, but restlessness still consumed her. She needed to see him again and confirm.

Although Selene never participated in the training sessions where her sisters were in their wolf form,

When her sisters would spar and learn about wolves and their power, she immersed herself in countless books about werewolves. She was determined to learn as much as possible before her eventual shape-shifting.

She relaxed a bit, but she couldn't shake off the memory of the look he had in his brown orbs, as if he were disappointed with her, much like everyone else.

“All right, Mother." She replied, “Now join others and dance; he might even be looking for you now," Irene said before leaving Selene to cater for herself.

After several minutes of dancing, trying to see if she would see the man again, Selene couldn't find the man who claimed to be her fated mate. She walked through the hall and searched every nook and cranny, but she found none.

A wolf howled outside the hall, and the music stopped. Everyone went to their respective seats and waited patiently for the main event. The right-hand man of the king, Harold Hawthorne, the strongest Beta in Eldoria with exceptional strength, walked towards the stage at the front of the hall. Standing tall before everyone in the hall, his blue eyes shone differently as he gave everyone a mesmerizing smile.

"People of Eldoria, let's rejoice because today we are not only celebrating the ball in the palace" Everyone clapped their hands and paid keen attention as they awaited the rest of the information.

"The king has found his long-awaited Fated Luna!" Harold declared it aloud for everyone to hear.
