Amelia's POV.

Someone's hand fisted in my hair and my head snapped to the back. Pain shot through my scalp and I gasped.

“Please….. let me go” I pleaded, my voice filled with desperation. Tears blurred my vision, falling from the corner of my eyes.

Why me?

They dragged me back to where I was before I ran, my body scraping against the floor.

“Where do you think you are going, pretty?” They asked.

“Please…..” My voice cracked. “Just let me go”

“Not so soon, pretty,” one of them said.

“We promise we will let you go….” He paused. “After we are done with you”

The way they looked at me with their eyes filled with lust made the realization hit me.

I shook my head violently, my hand flying over to my stomach. “No…. Please just let me go”

My baby….. they are going to hurt my baby.

“What is a pretty girl like you doing in the woods, huh?” The man with the bottled water from earlier dropped down beside me, his hand caressing my face.

My face twisted in disgust and my eyes shut close while tears spilled down from them relentlessly.

“Don't touch me….” My voice was low, breaking into sobs.

They laughed. “What did you just say?”

The man beside me grabbed me and that earned a scream from me as I tried to resist him.

I tried to get his hands off me but he was stronger, making it impossible.

He tried to yank my clothes off me and I cried, thrashing against him.

“Get your hands off her!” A cold and commanding voice cut through the air, echoing through my ears.

Everything stopped, including the rogue's hand that moved on my body. My face snapped to look at who had spoken.

A man was standing a few steps away from us, his hands by his side, his face darkened and a wolf snarling within him.

The rogues blocked the path leading to me and the one beside me scoffed.

“And who the hell are you?” He growled. “This is our territory”

“Get. Your. Hands. Off. Her” The stranger repeated, his voice more dark and hoarse.

The rogue's face twisted in anger and he stood from my side, moving to the stranger.

“Fuck, who are you?!” He growled.

“Leave” The stranger didn't reply, his eyes only moved around the three of them as he gave another command.

“Are you fucking kidding with me?” The rogue tried to step closer to the stranger, but his voice through the air again, making him stop.

“If you make me repeat myself one last time” His voice was cold, commanding. “You'll have yourself to blame for the rest of your life”

The rogue was going to reply again, but the others didn't let him talk before they grabbed him.

“Idiot! Let's just leave as he had said!” The first one whispered.

“He's Alpha Zayden! You don't want to cross him!” Another panicked.

Fear flashed across their eyes and they dragged themselves away until they disappeared into thin air.

I breathed out in relief, jaws getting slagged. Just like that, my body gave out and I slowly gave in to darkness.

“Hey, are you okay?” I felt someone's hand on my shoulder but I was too weak to process. Hands wrapped around my body and I felt myself getting lifted up the ground but soon… I couldn't feel anything, all that enveloped me was darkness.

My eyes fluttered open and I looked around everywhere, trying to process where I was.

A chandelier hung above my head, too bright for my weak eyes. My head was dizzy, my whole body filled with pain.

“What happened to me? Where am I?” I muttered slowly, looking around everywhere. My eyes turned to the right in the process and they landed on a man seated on a chair beside me.

I creased my face and sat up on the bed, staring at him with my face filled with confusion, eyes filled with panic.

“Who are you? Where am I?” My voice shook slightly.

“Don’t move” his voice was low, commanding in a way that made me fall into silence.

“You are in Blackthorn pack, and you are in my room” he said.

Blackthorn pack was a very well known pack amongst the packs, and they were sworn enemies with moonlight pack. The alpha of this pack and Jace were more like rivals.

“You've been unconscious for two days,” he added.

I snapped my face up to him in shock. “Two days?”

“You were exhausted.”

I sighed deeply and looked away from him to examine the room. When I turned back to look at him, I suddenly found it hard to take my face away. Something snapped inside me, shifting all the way.

“Mate!” She growled.

My eyes widened at the shock of hearing a voice roar to life inside me, and also at the word she had just uttered.

My wolf was awakened….

For years, I couldn't talk to her. Nothing happened, everyone believed I don't have a wolf, even I believed that.

“You are my second chance mate” The man in front of me said calmly.

It wasn't a question, it was a fact we had both realized.

“There is a mistake somewhere” my voice shook slightly. “I don't want a mate”

“You can't go against the moon goddess,” he said, more like a warning.

“Who exactly are you?” My voice was weak, barely able to form words.

“I'm the alpha of this pack” He revealed. “Zayden Briggs”

My body stiffened and my eyes blinked. I didn't know what to do, thinking the alpha of the blackthorn pack had been chosen as my second chance mate.

“No, I mean…. Yes” I stuttered. “You are the alpha”

“Thank you for bringing me here, but I should leave now” I tried to stand up from the bed but a sharp pain hit my stomach and made me fall back to the huge bed.

My baby…. Was the baby okay?

Alpha Zayden squeezed his face as his eyes lingered on me. His expression changed into a mixture of surprise and anger.

“Some bastard rejected you while you were pregnant for him?” Anger was evident in his tone and the way his fists curled surprised me.

Was he concerned about me right now?

“I'll get the healer” He stood up and walked to the door, barking orders at someone before he returned.

Not long after the healer he talked about arrived, she was made to examine me. She turned to the Alpha. “The babies are fine, Alpha”

I breathed out in relief but then processed her words. What did she mean by babies?

She turned back to me and smiled. “You are carrying twins”

The words didn't register at first but when they finally did, my eyes widened in shock. Those were Jace's babies but he rejected them as he had rejected me.

Silence came after the healer’s words but the silence did not last forever as it was broken by a voice from outside.

“Alpha, there's a situation,” someone reported.

“What is it, Taylor?” Alpha Zayden asked, his face snapping to the side.

“Alpha Jace of moonlight pack is here” The report continued and my blood ran cold. “He's demanding for his mate”

My eyes widened, fear suddenly crawling up my skin. Alpha Zayden's face turned to me, darkened and filled with shock.

“You are Jace's mate?” His voice was etched with disbelief. “And you are carrying his babies?”

Words suddenly left my throat but I knew Jace was here to take me back to his pack and that scared the hell out of me. He would tell me I didn't sign the divorce papers, didn't accept the rejection and that means I was still his.

“Bring her out, Zayden!” Jace's voice echoed from the hallway. “You don't get to take what's mine!”

My breath hitched.

At that moment, I knew……

I would be getting forced to return to the prison I had crawled out from.

  • Rejected By Him, Claimed By Another Alpha   Chapter 180

The letter existed because Petra had walked into a contested territory and said the right thing at the right moment to the right person.Which meant that everything that had produced Petra — the months at the packhouse, the threshold work, the honest conversations about what gifts running without frames actually feel like from the inside — had produced this letter, indirectly, through the specific chain of one person affecting another affecting another that real things always travel through.I brought the letter to Seren after breakfast. She read it with the focused, unhurried attention she brought to written things — she had developed, over the last year, a specific relationship with letters that went beyond the ordinary reading. Something in the physical object of a letter, the paper and the ink and the particular pressure of the hand that had written it, communicated things to her that supplemented the content. Not Donal's impression reading. Something more emotional. The feeling b

  • Rejected By Him, Claimed By Another Alpha   Chapter 179 — Cressida Writes

Amelia POV The letter from Cressida arrived on a Wednesday in early summer.I recognized the seal before Reyna finished handing it to me — not because I had seen it before, but because Petra had described it in her territory reports with the specific, visual precision she brought to details that mattered. A wolf in profile, facing left, the wax pressed with a firmness that suggested someone who signs things with deliberate intention.I had been waiting for this letter since Petra's third report from the contested territories. The message sent through Petra — verbal, uncommitted to paper — that Cressida intended to write before summer. Summer was here. The letter was here.I opened it at the library desk, with the morning light coming through the window at the angle that belonged to this particular hour.Luna Briggs,I have been composing this letter in my head since the afternoon your student Petra sat across from me and said, without preamble or performance, that gifts running wit

"They chose isolation because the alternative was dangerous. The alternative has become less dangerous. They'll make contact when they decide the timing is right.""How do you know?" Brenna asked. Not dismissively — with genuine curiosity."I don't know exactly," Seren said. "It's the feeling of it. The direction things are moving has a quality I recognize from watching other contested situations resolve." She paused. "The six territories Petra visited. Cressida, who sent the message that she intended to write before summer. The Alpha whose Beta's son has blood warmth, who has already written twice more. Things that were resistant start moving when enough surrounding things have already moved." She looked at me. "The north will move. Not this year. But not many years from now either."Brenna looked at Seren with the particular, assessing attention of someone updating their understanding of who they are in a room with."How old is she?" Brenna asked me, quietly."Eight," I said.Brenna

  • Rejected By Him, Claimed By Another Alpha   Chapter 177 — Brenna's Visit

Amelia POV The response from Brenna arrived before I expected it.Not a letter this time — Brenna herself, three weeks after I had written to introduce Jace's situation, appearing at our gate on a grey morning with the specific, purposeful quality of someone who has made a decision and is implementing it without unnecessary delay.I liked that about her immediately. We had been corresponding for over a year, but correspondence and presence are different countries, and I had learned not to assume that the person who shows up matches the person the letters suggested. Sometimes they are smaller. Sometimes larger. Sometimes simply different in ways that require recalibration.Brenna was exactly who her letters had suggested — compact, direct, carrying herself with the particular confidence of someone whose authority comes from accumulated knowledge rather than institutional position. She was perhaps fifty, with the weathered quality of someone who has spent decades doing practical work i

Something unresolved," I said. "Something that needed addressing." I looked at the letter on the desk. "But it's just a man asking for help with his daughter. The history is there — I'm not pretending it isn't — but it's behind the question rather than in it."Zayden looked at me for a moment."Do you want to write back?" he asked."Yes," I said. "I think he asked something real and it deserves a real answer.""Then write back," he said. Simply. No qualification, no hesitation, the uncomplicated trust of a man who had never once asked me to manage my past differently than I managed it.I had not taken that for granted in years.I did not take it for granted now.Caelen, when I told him about the letter, went still in the way he went still when something required his full consideration before he responded."A daughter," he said. "Born with her eyes open.""Yes."He looked at the map for a moment — the vast, annotated record of gifts and lineages and territories."She's on the map alrea

  • Rejected By Him, Claimed By Another Alpha   Chapter 175 — What Moonlight Pack Sent

Amelia POV The letter arrived on a morning in late spring, carried by a courier I didn't recognize — a young wolf, travel-worn, who handed it to Reyna at the gate with the careful formality of someone who had been given specific instructions about its delivery and intended to follow them precisely.Reyna brought it to me in the garden. She didn't say who it was from. She didn't need to. The seal was Moonlight Pack's — I had known that seal since childhood, had seen it on documents throughout twenty years of living under its authority, and the specific quality of the wax and the impression of it was as familiar as anything from that period of my life.I set down what I was doing.I held the letter for a moment without opening it.Not from fear — or not exactly. More the instinctive pause of someone who has learned to receive significant things with full attention rather than rushing past the moment of before into the moment of after. The before, I had found, was worth inhabiting. It

Amelia's POV. “I, Alpha Jace, rejects Amelia Storm as my mate…. and takes Lydia Karl” Something shattered inside me and nothing ever came back together. Did I just hear him right? Or was this a cruel joke? Everywhere fell into silence and suddenly, eyes turned to me before turning back to J

  • Rejected By Him, Claimed By Another Alpha   Chapter 1

Amelia's POV. This would change everything. It definitely should. The paper trembled slightly in my hand and I glanced at the results again, just to be sure I wasn't imagining it. Three weeks pregnant. The words blurred as my eyes got filled with tears of joy. I almost screamed in the

AlphaZaydeen was moving He didn't know why. He had responded to border situations hundreds of times — rogues, lost travelers, the occasional wounded wolf from a neighboring territory. It was duty. Routine. He was Alpha of Blackridge and the safety of his borders was his responsibility. But someth

  • Rejected By Him, Claimed By Another Alpha   Chapter Five — Rescued

Amelia's POV I don't remember when the thorns found me. I only remember running — bare feet on cold earth, branches whipping across my face, the darkness of the Blackridge forest swallowing me whole. Behind me, the sound of heavy paws. Snarling. The wet, ugly hunger of rogues who had been given
