LOGINKENDRICK'S POV.
When I walked through the entrance of that hall, I didn't expect to see my fated mate being tied to a pillar and being flogged. A familiar sense of uncontrollable rage ignited through my veins and the natural instinct to protect surged forth. "Enough!" I thundered. The entire hall went as silent as night, and the Delta who had been flogging her froze halfway through another lash. As I walked further inside, the High Priestess, Nadia, followed me behind. Everyone dropped from their seat to the floor on one knee. "Your Majesty!" they chorused. My gaze had only been on one person. But the closer I got to her, an inferior energy radiated off her. My eyes narrowed when I realized it. Cursed furs... ...An omega. I had done my findings on the Blackthorne daughters; Aurelia Blackthorne and Alma Blackthorne. Both sisters were noble-born and Beta trained warriors. So who in the blasted moon was this omega my beast just claimed as our mate?! "Your Majesty." Alpha Garrett quickly stepped forward, looking disoriented. "I'm sorry you had to see this," he said, looking at the omega with a hint of irritation. "Untie her," I ordered. "Now." He quickly signaled the guards and they went ahead to untie her, watching as she fell to the floor in a half-conscious state. "Get her away from here," Alpha Garrett ordered sharply. One of the guards lifted her limp figure into his arms and headed out. Both my beasts clawed beneath my skin, refusing to let her out of our sight. But I was irritated. An omega? My mate was supposed to come from the Blackthorne bloodline, so what exactly was happening? Or had the High priestess heard wrongly from the goddess? I rested my frosty gaze on her. 'Explain', my voice filtered through our mindlink. 'My beast just claimed that omega'. Her eyes went wide with shock and I suppressed the urge to scoff. She had no idea what was happening. I turned to Alpha Garrett immediately. "Who is that girl?" He shook his head and forced a nervous chuckle. "She's no one worthy of Your Majesty's attention. I'm sorry you had to see that." "I asked you a question," I said in a clipped tone. "Who is she?" For a long moment, he simply stared at me. Then the color slowly drained from his face. "No..." he whispered. "No way..." My patience thinned. "I won't ask again," I warned. "I'm sorry." He brushed his palm over his face before swallowing hard. "She's... she's my daughter. My illegitimate daughter. Lyra." Silence settled over the hall. So... She was indeed a Blackthorne -- A weak, despised, bastard Blackthorne. An omega... An omega... A fucking omega! My jaw locked. I waited years for the woman fated to bear the weight of my curse and anchor the beast within me. A mate powerful enough to withstand the demon's corruption. Strong enough to survive carrying my demon-corrupted seed without it killing her. Instead... the Goddess handed me a fragile omega who looked like a strong breeze could snap her in half. "Your Majesty," Nadia said quietly behind me. "Perhaps we should..." "We're leaving," I cut in flatly and she inhaled sharply. 'Please, don't', she pleaded through our mindlink, but I ignored her. I turned on my heels and the Deltas standing behind me immediately parted to the side, creating an aisle for me to walk through. In firm, angry strides, I headed out. But halfway to the entrance, I stopped and turned back, holding Alpha Garrett's gaze. I let our minds connect before warning. 'It would be in your best interest that what happened here tonight never leaves this residence'. I watched satisfactorily as fear flashed across his face, before turning and exiting the hall. *************** THE WHITE CITADEL (ROYAL PACK). After the sour disappointment last night, we had journeyed through the night, back to the White Citadel. Even though I had barely gotten any sleep during the trip, I still found it difficult to shut my eyes that morning. After hours of being restless on my bed, I eventually headed out to the private sparring room. Moments later, I drove my fist into my third spar partner’s face and the Delta stumbled back, blood spilling from his nose before he could even regain footing. It only fueled my rage. A sharp whistle cut through the private ring. "Out!" The referee called quickly, already waving the injured Delta off. He glanced at me for a couple of seconds, as if hesitating whether or not to caution me. I threw him a hard glare and he visibly gulped. I was in no mood to be cautioned. "I can see you're really on a tear today," the familiar voice of Knox--my Beta, rang through the ring. I turned to see him walking in. He was back. The remaining Deltas and referee bowed deeply. "Beta," they murmured respectfully. I moved toward the edge of the ring, my jaw tight. "How the hell has Ryker been training these men?" I asked dryly. "They call themselves Deltas yet fight like pups." Knox exhaled, watching me with that infuriatingly observant stare of his. A moment later, he motioned for the referee and the remaining Deltas to clear the ring. I stepped down from the platform as he held out a bottle of water, and I collected the bottle and gulped down. Silence stretched between us. He studied me for several seconds more, before pinching the bridge of his nose "Please," he said quietly. "Tell me this wasn’t all for nothing. Tell me one of the Blackthorne daughters really is your mate." My grip tightened around the bottle as I recalled everything that had happened the previous night. Knox usually accompanied me on trips like that, but yesterday he had been away on an important mission in Vampire Territory. "Kendrick," he pressed. "Put me out of my misery already." "Were you aware that Alpha Garrett has a bastard daughter?" I asked. His brow furrowed. "A bastard?" "Yes." I nodded. "An illegitimate daughter he cast aside. An omega." He stared at me for a long moment, then realization hit him. "No way," he breathed out in disbelief. My jaw tightened as fresh anger bubbled within me. "Find out everything there is to know about Lyra Blackthorne," I said. "I want a complete report on my desk as soon as possible." I paused. "If she is truly my mate…" My voice came out colder than I intended. "..then the Moon Goddess has made a catastrophic mistake."LYRA."I'm going to fuck you, Lyra."My heart hammered so hard against my chest, it hurt. Under a different circumstance, that would have been such a pleasant thing to hear him say to me, considering how much my very existence repulsed him. But right then, it wasn't. He wasn't himself. After princess Nuria had falsely accused me the previous evening, I left Alpha Ronan's chambers and returned to the servant's quarters, only to meet a bit of chaos.Dalia had explained to me what was happening and I was shocked. I didn't know that those rumours I usually thought 'baseless' were indeed true. Alpha Ronan was suffering from an age-long curse and was plagued by a bloodthirsty demon side. She informed me that everyone was to steer clear of his quarters for the time being. So I stayed back at the servants quarters the entire day, today, until a random maid approached me a while ago with a jar of herbs, claiming Katya had demanded I took it to Alpha Ronan's chambers. I was unsure, but she a
RONAN.Those damned tears again."Th.. that's not true," she whispered. This time, her eyes didn't carry the usual fear I used to see. Instead, she looked offended.Somehow, I knew within myself that she was telling the truth. But the tension in the room was already too much and I wanted her gone."Just leave," I said with a wave of my hand. But she remained in her spot, looking confused."Why are you still here?!" Nuria suddenly lashed out, making my jaw tighten. I realized right then that I had a problem far bigger than I had imagined. Nuria's outburst had clearly offended me.I was unconsciously becoming possessive of that omega, and that was bad for me. Too bad."Get out!" I snapped before I could hold back, inwardly irritated at how easily I was letting the mate bond control me.She flinched and looked up at me, her eyes darkening in subtle disappointment. She was angry at me.It wasn't the daring or obvious kind of anger, but I could feel it nonetheless. My mouth suddenly tast
LYRA.It was a new day and I was very tensed about resuming my duties at Alpha Ronan's chambers, considering how I had cut him short and literally fled from his chambers the previous day.Nonetheless, I found myself walking to the royal quarters minutes before the gong for the next hour rang.On my way there, I subconsciously fondled the necklace around my neck, deeply missing the person who had given it to me.Madame Jocasta. On the day I left Lord Bailey's residence, I thought she had decided to not bade me farewell, and it hurt so bad. But then, she suddenly appeared just before I left, crying so badly and hugging me tightly. I had never seen her so... raw and vulnerable before. She was always so composed. The next thing I knew, she squeezed something into my palm and whispered in my ear to wear it at all times, that she was always close to my heart. She was about saying something more when Lord Bailey suddenly grabbed her and pulled her away with him.On getting to the waiting
LYRA.After breakfast, I returned to the kitchen with the other maids, still in disbelief at how the situation at the dinning hall had escalated. One minute I was scared to have drawn prince Kian's attention, and the next minute I was made Alpha Ronan's personal maid.Oh goddess, I was so happy deep down. This new role of mine meant that I would have an excuse to be around my mate."Congratulations, Lyra," one of the maids said. "Thank you..?" I replied, unsure why exactly I was being celebrated. "Congratulations, Lyra!!" The others joined in.I was still confused until Katya appeared. "I see who's the king's new attendant now," she teased. "Congratulations my dear."Wait... was that why they were congratulating me? Apparently I wasn't the only one who thought it was such a big deal. "Thank you, Katya," I muttered in response, giving a small bow."I wish I was in your shoes, Lyra?" one of the maids said."Same here!" Another maid agreed. "I could really make do with that much inc
RONAN.Shortly after my personal maid, Luna had informed us that it was time for breakfast, Nuria and I made our way out. She walked ahead of me and from the stiffness in her shoulders, I could tell she was still displeased. I didn't blame her though, I was displeased as well. I had her so close this past week but annoyingly, we couldn't do more than kiss.Every single night since that omega showed up in my life, I hadn't gotten a single release. And even when I tried to help myself in the bathtub, she still appeared and ruined it.Nuria didn't understand because I was yet to tell her I had found my mate. So every night, it seemed like I was just giving one fake excuse after the other.A few minutes later, we got to the hall to see almost everyone present. My eyes leisurely swept across the hall, until they fell on the origin of the temporary problem I had. Yes, temporary. Because I was definitely going to find a way around having my release soon. Either grow the balls to reject h
A WEEK LATER.LYRA.It was my second week in the White Citadel and I was slowly getting accustomed to my new life. The previous week had come with unexpected situations which led to me being marked by people I would have preferred to stay unnoticed by. Somehow, I came to the realization that princess Nuria may not have been as... kind as I had thought. She had randomly appeared at the servants' quarters a day after my ugly encounter with the dowager, asking if I was okay and advising me to stay far away from Alpha Ronan for my own safety.I would have genuinely mistaken it as a show of care, but the look of disdain in her eyes had forced me to see things for what they were. She was subtly marking her territory. And funny how that territory was actually supposed to be mine."Lyra!"I looked ahead to see Katya walking down from the other end of the hallway."Good morning, Katya," I greeted as soon as she got to me."Good morning, Lyra, it's a new daayyy.""Yes," I muttered flatly. "
PROLOGUE. RONAN. By the time I reached the territorial boundary, two decapitated heads of my sentinels lay on the blood-soaked ground. Fury ignited in my veins like wildfire. Who the hell had dared step foot into my territory? "Alpha..." A strained voice called out. I turned to see Ramsey, one

LYRA.I clutched my burning cheek, the tears in my eyes finally spilling over. I waited patiently for the pain to dull, but it throbbed even more as each second passed.
