Penelope's POV

Timothy drives me back to Bloodfang territory the next morning. The drive takes two hours, and we spend most of it in comfortable silence.

It's different now. Less charged than before, but also less painful. We're finding a new normal.

"Text me when you get to the arena," Timothy says as we pull up to my apartment building.

"I will," I promise. "And I'll check in tonight before bed."

He helps me carry my bags up to my apartment.

  • Rejected By My Hockey Alpha   Chapter 161 - The Championship Season

Penelope's POV The championship tournament becomes my escape from complicated feelings. On the ice, everything is simple. There's the puck, the goal, my teammates. Win or lose, succeed or fail. No gray areas, no confusion. Off the ice, with Timothy, everything is complicated. We advance through the tournament bracket. Beat Silverpaw in the semifinals. Beat Mooncrest in the quarters, now we're facing Frostfang in the finals. Of course we are, because the universe has a sense of humor. "This is going to be weird," Isla says during practice the week before the championship game. "Playing against your mate's team." "He's not my mate," I say automatically. Then correct myself, "I mean, he is, but we're not together, I mean we are together but not like that right now, you know what it’s a bit complicated." "Right," Isla says as she gives me that look, the one that says she thinks I am going crazy. "You're just partners

  • Rejected By My Hockey Alpha   Chapter 160: When the Alpha Sleeps

Penelope pov The next week, Timothy shows up at my apartment unannounced. He looks exhausted, stressed, like he hasn't slept in days. "What's wrong?" I ask immediately. "Nothing, I just," he pauses. "Can I come in? I just need to not be Alpha for a few hours." I let him in, he collapsed on my couch and closed his eyes. "Rough week?" I ask, sitting in the chair across from him. "You have no idea," Timothy mutters. "Pack disputes, financial problems, security concerns, Council meetings. It's nonstop." "When was the last time you slept properly?" I ask. "Tuesday, I think?" Timothy says. "What day is it now?" "Saturday," I tell him. "So four days ago." "That explains the hallucinations," Timothy jokes weakly. I make him tea and force him to drink it. Then I order him to lie down on my couch and actually rest. "I can't," he protests. "I need to drive back, I have"

"Thanks," I say as I set my bags down by the door. "You should get going, it a long drive back." "Yeah," Timothy says. But he doesn't move toward the door. He's just standing there, looking at me like he wants to say something. "What?" I ask. "Nothing," he says quickly. "Just. Be safe. Please." "I will," I assure him. "I've got the emergency phone. I'll check in regul

  • Rejected By My Hockey Alpha   Chapter 158:A Meeting Between Packs

Timothy POV We finish breakfast and spend the morning dealing with pack business. Penelope works on her economic development committee plans. I review security reports with Ethan. It's weird, working in the same room but maintaining professional distance. Every instinct tells me to touch her, to close the space between us. But I don't. This is what she needs so this is what I'll give her, but honestly I am baffled with her complete change of mind, but I will take what I can get. At eleven thirty, we leave for the border checkpoint. It's a small building that marks the boundary between Frostfang and Bloodfang territories. Liam is already there when we arrive. He's standing outside, looking casual in jeans and a leather jacket. But I can sense the tension in his posture. "Timothy," he greets me with a nod. Then his eyes move to Penelope. "Penelope." "Liam," she responds coolly. "Thanks for meeting me," Liam says,

  • Rejected By My Hockey Alpha   Chapter 157 - Learning to Lead Together

Timothy's POVThe morning after our first council meeting, I woke up to Penelope sitting on the edge of the bed, already dressed."We need to talk," she says.My stomach drops. Nothing good ever starts with those words. "Okay. What's wrong?""Nothing's wrong," Penelope says, she turns to face me fully. "But we need to establish some ground rules. For how we're doing this.""Doing what?" I ask, sitting up."Being Alpha and Luna," she explains. "Leading together. Because yesterday in that council meeting, you made decisions about my role without asking me first."I think back. "You mean when I put you in charge of economic development?""Yes," Penelope confirms. "I appreciate the trust, but you should have asked me privately first. Not announced it in front of everyone."She's right, i got excited and steamrolled over her input. Again."I'm sorry," I say. "You're right. I should have asked.""It's not just about asking," Penelope continues. "It's about how we function as partners. I nee

  • Rejected By My Hockey Alpha   Chapter 156:The Four-Million-Dollar Lie

Penelope pov Elena stands and distributes folders to everyone. "Over the past years, Marcus Blackthorn embezzled approximately four million plus dollars from pack funds."Gasps echo around the table, few of the naive pack members stunned."Four million," Thomas Gray repeats, stunned. "How did no one notice?""He controlled the accounting," Elena explains. "Falsified records, bribed auditors, intimidated anyone who questioned discrepancies.""Where did the money go?" Sarah Reed asks."Personal accounts mostly," Elena says. "Some went for bribes. Some to offshore investments. We're still tracing all of it.""Can we recover it?" Ethan asks."Some," Elena confirms. "The Council has frozen Marcus's assets. But much of it is already spent or hidden too well to find.""What does this mean for the pack budget?" I ask.Elena looks at Timothy. "It means you're inheriting a financial mess. The pack is technically solvent, but barely. Many programs will need to be cut or scaled back.""What kind
