Chapter Thirty One : Scheme

Cara’s POV

The room spun around me. My chest felt heavy, my throat tight.

Luna’s voice echoed in my ears, sharp and filled with disgust.

“Get out!” she screamed, pointing at the door. “You can’t stay in this pack! Someone like you will never be our next Luna.”

Tears blurred my vision as I shook my head frantically. “No, please! You have to believe me! It’s a setup! I didn’t do it!” My voice cracked with desperation.

Liam stood there, frozen. His eyes were clouded with confusion, his fists clenched at his sides. I searched his face for something—anything—that would tell me he believed me.

But he said nothing.

His silence shattered me more than Luna’s cruel words.

I took a shaky step forward, but Vanessa’s voice cut through the tension like a blade.

“She doesn’t deserve to be Luna,” Vanessa sneered, crossing her arms. “Just look at her. She doesn’t have the appearance, the status, or the class. And now, she’s going after Liam’s father?” She let out a cold lau

Chapter Thirthy Two: Cara Is Pregnant (Liam’s POV)Cara’s sudden collapse sent the entire room into chaos. One moment, she was standing there, tears streaming down her face as my mother ordered her out of the pack. The next, she swayed on her feet, her face going pale before she fell to the ground, clutching her stomach.“Cara!” I yelled, rushing to her side. She was unconscious, her breathing uneven. My heart pounded in my chest as I scooped her up into my arms. All my doubts, all the accusations, everything disappeared in that moment. Nothing mattered except getting her help.“She’s faking it,” my mother spat, folding her arms. “Don’t fall for her tricks, Liam.”“She’s not faking it!” Sophia snapped, kneeling beside me. “Can’t you see she’s sick?”Vanessa scoffed. “Sick or not, she doesn’t belong here. You should let her leave just as your mother ordered.”I shot her a glare. “Shut up, Vanessa.”For the first time, I wasn’t interested in pleasing anyone—my mother, my father, Vaness

Chapter Thirty Three : The Paternity Test(Cara’s POV)I sat in the hospital bed, my hands gently placed over my stomach. The room was quiet, but my heart was loud in my chest. It had been hours since Alpha decided I could stay under his protection until the paternity test was done. But I knew… peace would not come. Not for me.Not for my baby.A tear slipped down my cheek. I rubbed my belly softly, whispering, “Whatever happens, baby, I will stand by you. I will be with you.”My voice shook. My body was tired, my heart was broken, but I couldn’t give up. No matter what they said, this child was Liam’s. I knew it. I felt it.What if they forced me out?I closed my eyes, holding back a sob. I was scared. Then… I heard footsteps.I froze. The door to my room opened, and voices filled the air. My heart dropped as I recognized them.Luna.Alpha.Vanessa.Liam.They were all here.I stayed still, listening.“We must check if the baby is for Liam or not,” Luna’s sharp voice rang out.I swal

Chapter Thirty-Four: The Weight of Betrayal(Liam's POV)The tension was thick. The silence was heavy, pressing down on my chest like a boulder. Cara was across from me, her complexion pale, her eyes red and puffy from tears. My father was rigid, his face expressionless, and my mother and Vanessa were looking at me with anticipation, waiting for my reaction. And now, I stood there, staring at the doctor, daring him to lie to me again.“Tell me the truth,” I growled, my wolf stirring beneath my skin, barely contained. “Did Vanessa tell you to alter the results?”The doctor swallowed, his heartbeat pounding so loud I could hear it. He was nervous, shifting on his feet, looking at Vanessa and my mother for help.I stepped closer, letting a low, dangerous growl escape my throat. My wolf was furious, demanding justice.“Don’t look at them,” I warned, my voice low. “I asked you a question. Did she tell you to change it?”The doctor flinched. “Master Liam, I—”“Answer me!” I roared, my voice

Chapter Thirty-Five: A Broken Bond(Liam’s POV)The tension in the air was thick as we walked back to the packhouse. No one spoke, but I could feel the weight of everyone’s emotions pressing down on me. My father walked with his usual authority, his shoulders squared, while my mother’s face held a smug expression. Vanessa followed closely behind, satisfaction clear in her eyes.Sophia was the only one who looked furious. She walked beside Cara, her hand gripping Cara’s arm, as if she was afraid she would collapse.Cara, on the other hand, looked numb. Her face was pale, her lips slightly parted, and her eyes were swollen from crying. She didn’t try to wipe her tears anymore. She just walked, silent and broken. And I forced myself not to care.I clenched my jaw and reminded myself that I was doing what was best for the pack. When we arrived at the packhouse, the entire pack had gathered. Chapter Thirty Six : Elder’s SummonLiam's POVThe air within the packhouse was heavy with tension, the kind that had my wolf running back and forth. Cara stood quietly in the corner of the great meeting room, her arms wrapped tightly around her belly. Her tear-stained eyes were a combination of fear and determination.I was standing by my father, the Alpha, with my mother, Luna, by his side. Vanessa was lurking around them, pretending to be innocent, and Sophia was standing by Cara, clearly displeased with what was happening. The door opened creakily, and the pack elders entered. They were elderly, wise, and highly regarded. Their arrival was enough to make everyone straighten up."Alpha," the eldest among them, Elder Tobias, bowed deeply to my father before turning his intense stare on Cara. "We have come because of the child."My father's face darkened. "The child?""Yes. The one Cara is carrying " Elder Tobias turned his gaze on Cara, its meaning impossible to read. "That child wi

Chapter Thirty Seven : SmarterCara's POVThe room was quiet save for the soft crackling of the fire. The dim light had long shadows cast upon the walls, and the room seemed unusually chilly despite warmth in the air. I was sitting on the edge of my own bed, staring at myself in the mirror at the far end of the room.I should have been sleeping, but my mind would not quiet.Too much had happened.Too many betrayals.I placed my hand upon my stomach, pressing down lightly into the life pulsating softly within me. My pup. The only thing that had kept me from shattering completely. My entire life, I'd been instructed that I was weak, an omega nothing but a liability. That was a lie.I didn't require proof.I wasn't weak.I'd been a warrior. Before Caleb had cast me aside, I had trained with some of the best fighters in his pack. I had battled with ferocity in combat, defended my people, and proved myself time and time again. My body might have been warped into the form of an omega, but n

Chapter Thirty-Eight: The TrapCara’s POVVanessa’s smirk faltered, just for a second. Just long enough for me to see the tiniest crack in her confidence. She expected me to be weak, to be swaying from whatever poison she thought she had fed me.But I was smarter.I stayed slumped in the chair, pretending to struggle, letting my eyelids flutter as if I were losing consciousness. The moment stretched between us, her breath coming in excited little pants as she thought she was watching me crumble.“Poor little Cara,” she whispered, crouching next to me. “I almost feel bad for you.”I made my body shudder. Let my fingers twitch. Made my breath come shallow.Vanessa let out a quiet laugh, victorious. And then, I struck. With a sudden movement, I shot forward, grabbing her by the collar of her dress and yanking her toward me. It felt too abrupt. Too personal. And something in the message… it had my wolf unsettle with unease.Just then, the door to our bedroom opened.Sophia stepped out. My black trench coat was enveloped around me, heels of shoes sinking delicately into sodden ground as I went deeper into the trees. The moon was silver, distant, cold—like I am tonight.I'd given the message to Caleb hours ago. He responded right away."Same location. Midnight."This is the time I need Caleb the most, I know he doesn’t like Damon, and this is the time for me to act like I care about him.I smiled as I walked towards the small cabin hidden at the edge of the border, a place that only the two of us knew.
