Chapter Fifty One: The Final Break

(Cara’s POV)

I stood frozen, my heart pounding in my chest.

Liam was here.

After everything, after the pain, the betrayal, after I forced myself to forget him—he was here. And he had seen me kissing Damon.

I couldn’t even look at him. But I felt the anger radiating off him, thick and suffocating. His fists were clenched, his jaw tight, his golden eyes burning with an emotion I couldn’t name.

“Cara…” His voice was hoarse, almost broken. “I—”

I cut him off before he could say anything more. “Why are you here, Liam?” My voice was cold, steady. It took everything in me to keep it that way.

He stepped forward, but Damon immediately blocked his path, standing between us.

Liam glared at him but didn’t attack. “I came for you, Cara,” he said, his voice laced with desperation. “I know the truth now. I know everything.”

I scoffed, crossing my arms. “And what truth is that?”

“I overheard them,” he said quickly. “Vanessa and my mother. They set you up. They lied

It was the first time in days that everything was quiet, as if we were breathing peacefully after weeks of chaos. The soft knock on the door stilled the room. "Who's that?" I breathed, looking at Damon. He got up, his broad shoulders moving with stealthy ease, and opened the door. And then… I saw them. Three age-old men, dressed in rich earth-tinted robes, walked in. The minute they entered, the mood transformed. These were the Pack Elders—the dignified council governing tradition, law, and legacy. Damon dipped his head, and I got up, evidencing a humble inclination of the head. "Elder Mako, Elder Linna, Elder Barro," Damon greeted them. "What do we
