Darius POV

The corridor felt longer on the way back to the room.

Aurelian was already asleep in my arms, his small weight familiar, grounding. His head rested against my shoulder, breath warm through the fabric of my coat, fingers curled loosely like he trusted the world would not dare touch him while he slept.

Seraphine walked beside me.

But she was awfully quiet.. Too quiet.

Her steps seemed measured and it sounded soft against the stone floor, her presence was like a steady heat at my side,

Fael povMy chambers smelled like something that had died and refused to be buried.Wine, sweat, broken wood and something far worse that I could not name.. Something rotten..Something that had taken root inside me and spread until there was nothing left untouched.I sat slumped against the edge of the table, a half empty bottle hanging loosely from my fingers, my head lowered as the weight of everything pressed down on me in waves that refused to break. The silence in the room was not peaceful it was suffocating and it pressed against my ears and crawled under my skin.It reminded me that there was no one left to fill it.No one left to stand beside me.No one left to pretend that I was still in control.A slow, bitter laugh slipped from my lips. “Control,” I muttered hoarsely. The word now felt foreign and mockingLike something that had once belonged to another man.Not me.. Not anymore. My gaze drifted across the room towards the overturned chair, the shattered glass scattered a

Darius povThe message did not change no matter how many times I read it.The words did not rearrange itself neither did they soften.Instead they remained exactly as they were sent, sharp and deliberate, like a warning that refused to be ignored.I sat by the window with my communicator clenched between my fingers while my gaze was unfocused as the weight of it settled deeper into my bones with every passing second.“The enemy we thought was dead and extinct has been watching us.”Kade’s words echoed in my head again.. And again.. And again.“Darius?”Seraphine called out to me and although her voice was soft, careful, I could still hear the tension beneath it.She must have felt the shift.. She always did.“What is it?” she asked again, stepping into the room.I said nothing because I knew that the moment I spoke it aloud, it would become real in a way that silence still allowed me to deny. Her footsteps moved closer.“What are you reading?” she asked.Still, I did not answer.Ins

Chapter ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY SEVEN— The Eastern Alpha Blake Hurst povThe night in the eastern territories did not breathe the same way the North did.It did not whisper.. It did not soothe instead it just watched. The wind moved through the dead trees like a warning, dragging across bark and bone as if the land itself remembered what had been done to it.And what it was owed.I stood at the edge of the clearing, my gaze fixed on the gathering below. They came in silence one after the other like shadows slipping between shadows. No banners.. No firelight. And there was no sound except the steady rhythm of wolves who had learned long ago that survival depended on being unseen.. Forgotten and extinct. That was the story they told the world, that Dustfang had been wiped from existence. That the great Corrin Varyn had erased us so completely that even our bones had turned to ash.I let out a quiet breath. “They believed it,” I murmured.Behind me, a voice answered. “No.. They wanted to

Kades pov“Get the warriors ready just in case”Those were the last words Darius had said to me after he sneaked away from Seraphine who had still been unconscious..The wind had turned sharp by the time I crossed the southern forest line.It carried something with it.. Not just cold, not just the scent of distant rain.. Something wrong.I slowed my horse instinctively, my fingers tightening around the reins as my gaze swept across the tree line. The forest stretched ahead in thick silence, the kind that pressed against your ears until your instincts began to scream.I exhaled slowly.“Easy boy..,” I muttered under my breath, though I was not sure if I was speaking to the horse or myself.Darius’s orders echoed in my mind.‘Return to Clawfrost.. Prepare the warriors.’At the time, it had sounded like caution.. Now it felt like something else entirely.I nudged the horse forward, slower this time, my eyes scanning the ground as habit took over. Every broken twig, every shift in the di

Elder Vulsh povIt had been two days..Two fucking days..The council chamber had not known silence for the past two days.Voices were layered over voices, accusations were thrown like blades across the stone floor.Power kept shifting beneath the surface like something alive and dangerous. And I stood in the middle of it, watching everything I had spent years building begin to fracture beyond repair.“Noise..” I whispered to myself as the talks kept getting louder and louder“This is madness,” one elder snapped, rising halfway from his seat. “We cannot allow him to walk freely after what has been revealed.”“And what has been revealed?” another countered sharply. “That the man you wish to arrest just lost his mother to the crimes committed under this very roof?”“That does not absolve him of anything!”“It changes everything!”The room erupted again.. Voices clashed.Hands slammed against the long council table, even the air suddenly felt heavy and thick with tension that refused to

SeraphineI woke up slowly, as though I had been forcefully dragged back from somewhere that was deep and distant, my whole entire body felt heavy and my thoughts were scattered all over like ash after a wildfire. For a moment, I did not remember where I was or how I got there but then… everything came back at once. The council chamber.. Altheas death.. Anton’s confession… Anton’s confession.. ANTINS BLOODY CONFESSION.. My power tearing through the room like something alive.. The sound of his voice breaking as I slowly took his life away from him and the smell of blood. My stomach twisted violently as I pushed myself upright, my breath catching in my throat. My hands trembled as I brought them into view, staring at them like they no longer belonged to me.“I killed him…”The words slipped out softly, almost soundlessly, yet they had echoed louder in my mind than anything else.My fingers curled slowly but there was no blood on them now, there was no sign of what I had done but I rem
