My only intention was to see him, the only son of the former Alpha of our neighborhood Pack who was taking the throne then I'll head back to my Kingdom. I had no business with the coronation. My father was meant to be the one to make the visit but he insisted that I go and learn how things are being done since I'll be taking the throne after him real soon. I never declined the assignment ‘cause I really wanted to see how the new Alpha looks having only heard about him.
As I crossed the border of their Pack, my head began to pound and it sent a sharp pain to my brain which was actually a warning migraine that came anytime I was about to go unusual. I tried to maintain my course, knowing fully well I couldn't go on tensed in another Pack, I needed to act gracefully.
The Pack armies led me and my soldiers down to the Pack house and as they were leading me to my room through the gallery, I smelled an inexplicably delightful smell. I stood still and tried to use my Lycan aura to embrace it. It was intriguing but I couldn't phantom what the smell was but one thing I could tell was that my wolf derived pleasure at the scent of the strange smell and my migraine reduced.
It was inquisitive and rare for something like that to happen so I picked interest in it. “Are you okay?” the commander of the Pack armies inquired but I held my hands up, commanding a silence and he made no words again.
I started to follow the fragrance closely with the armies trotting after me only to get to the end of the gallery and the scent became stronger. Still marveled, I turned around to see if anyone was perceiving the same thing I could smell but their faces were blank. I got bothered but still continued my way only for me to get to a door where the scent seemed to be coming from. I stood frozen at the door, my senses reeling from the intoxicating scent wafting through the air. My wolf stirred, restless and agitated, as if awakened from a deep slumber. Confusion clouded my mind.
Why was I reacting this way? Huh? Why was the scent so strong as if it was coming from my mate? For a few seconds I was lost in my thoughts, confused. Doesn’t the curse stop me from having a mate? The curse had been clear: I would never find my mate.
Years of loneliness had hardened me, but this fragrance ignited a fire within me. My heart raced, pounding against my chest like a drum. My palms grew sweaty, and my vision blurred. Questions kept swirling in my mind. Was this a trick? A deception? Or could it be...?
I pushed open the door and the commander wanted to stop me but it was too late, my armies already took the lead. He rushed in instead while I followed after them. As the room unfolded before me, a voice came, greeting me in the process but I was deaf to it while my gaze swept across the space, searching for the source of the scent.
That was when I saw her.
A tiny, fragile figure, slipping away unnoticed. Her eyes darted towards the door, and I just couldn't watch her leave.
“Stop right there!” I commanded, not waiting to confirm anything. I was confused enough.
Sensing the same confusion from her, she turned around and our gazes collided. Time suspended.
She looked like a lowly slave, dressed in tattered robes, her hair tied back in a simple knot. Yet, the scent emanating from her was unmistakable. My wolf's scent. How could this be? Why would my mate be disguised as a servant?
I strode towards her, my long legs eating up the distance. My men halted, sensing my tension while she froze, her eyes wide with fear. Her gaze locked onto mine, and I felt the world tilt. Those piercing green eyes sparkled like emeralds in the sunlight.
My wolf howled but was then distracted by the so called Alpha who seemed to explain who she was by the way he spoke to her yet, that wasn't my concern. I needed to know who this person truly was.
“Who’s she?” I inquired, my gaze not leaving hers and he replied, not giving me the answer I wanted that p*ss*d me off, forcing my migrain out. “I want her!”
Everyone seemed puzzled by my words but I was less bothered. My wish has always been my command and not even the Alpha was going to stop me which of course, he never did. My heart swelled with possessiveness as my men led her off.
*************Back At Blue Ivory Pack (Lycan Pack)************
I rushed through the grand halls of the Lavender Palace, my feet pounding against the marble floor as my head throbbed with an incessant ache, like a thousand wolves howling in unison. I wanted to be angry with myself but I tried to control it. “I shouldn't have gone there.” I kept telling myself.
The coronation at Redwood Pack had left me drained and it got to me because I had expected more but received less. I wished I had declined going there in the first place. It wasn't something that picked my interest and even when I tried forcing it, it was still the same.
I walked through the hallway, dragging myself to my chamber but as I turned the corner at the end of the hallway, a familiar scent suddenly hit through my nose and instantly I felt my throbbing reduced a bit. I paused. “The same fragrance?”
It was then that it occured to me. The slave from the Redwood Pack. The slave I have requested to be brought to my kingdom, without fully understanding why. It was her scent. Her scent drew me in and I remembered the way it had enveloped me the other day at Redwood soothing my drained nerves. “How can I forget about her?”
I began to trace the scent again. I had told my men to bring her to the Pack yesterday since she was now mine and I wasn't ready to let the Alpha change his mind towards handling her to me. I acted sharply. Something just kept telling me the girl could be a secret to me having a better life again.
Just at the corner of the hallway, I saw a small room guarded by two of my most trusted warriors whom I had told to bring the girl earlier. They lowered their heads in greetings as I approached. "Your Highness."
"Leave," I commanded instantly, my voice barely above a growl and reached out for the door that creaked open, revealing a room bathed in soft, golden light.
I burst into the room, my senses overwhelmed by her intoxicating scent. It enveloped me, a sweet, heady aroma that drove my wolf wild. My heart raced, my pulse pounding in my ears.
There she sat, cowered on the little bed with fear etched on her face as I approached. But gazing at her suddenly triggered something in me that I couldn't stop. My wolf growled, demanding satisfaction.
"Please…” I heard her soft voice whisper. “I need your help. My dress_”
I didn't respond, instead I cut her off, climbing onto the bed as I reached out to her. She tried to push me away. "My dress! You're shredding it!"
I ignored her protests again, my focus solely on having her under my hands as my desire to have her grew wild. However, she began to struggle beneath me, her screams echoing through the room. But I couldn't be swayed.
Why do I crave her so intensely? Was it my wolf's urge or something more?
I have been cursed yet, she seemed to be the mate I've always longed for. What exactly does it mean?
The words on the ancient page refused to leave my mind.Only a woman carrying this blood may break the curse of a Lycan King.I stared at the writing. Then at Prince Perry. “So that means…”“It means nothing yet.” His answer was immediate.I frowned. “But the book—”“Ancient records are not proof.” He closed the book. His expression had returned to its usual coldness. But I could see something different in his eyes. He was thinking.“Then why did you bring me here?”“To find the truth.” He stood and walked toward another section of the library.I followed. “Prince Perry, do you think I have this bloodline?”He stopped. “I don't know.”“Do you think my scent is connected to it?”His eyes met mine. “Possibly.”I swallowed. “And the visions?”“Possibly connected too.” He turned toward the shelves.“But possibilities aren't enough.”His fingers moved across several old books before stopping. “These records belonged to the first Lycan rulers.” He pulled out a thick black volume. “The oldes
Mira's Pov I couldn't stop thinking about the woman. Even after Prince Perry left the library, the image remained trapped inside my mind. The dark forest. The blood. The white dress. The blade. And those terrified eyes.I had never seen the woman before. Yet somehow, I felt as if I knew her. That frightened me more than the vision itself. I sat beside the library window, staring outside. My wolf was restless. She kept pacing inside me, reacting to something I couldn't understand. The door opened. I immediately looked up. Prince Perry entered. His expression was colder than usual. Behind him stood two palace guards carrying several old books. “Leave them.”The guards placed the books on the table and left.I stood. “What are those?”“Records.”“About the vision?” I asked, curiously. “Yes.”I stared at him. “You believe it was real?”Perry looked at me. “I saw it.”I nodded and said quietly. “So did I.”His eyes narrowed. “You saw it too?”I nodded. “The moment our hands touched.”He
Mira's PovI knew something was wrong the moment I woke up. A man was standing outside my bedroom door. He was dressed in the dark-blue uniform of the Blue Ivory palace guards, his silver sword strapped firmly to his waist. He looked at me. I looked at him. Then I looked down the corridor. “Why are you standing there?”“I have been assigned to protect you.”I frowned. “By whom?”The guard straightened. “Prince Perry.”Of course. I folded my arms. “I don't need a guard.”“That isn't my decision.”I sighed. “Wherever I go?”“Yes.”“Even when I eat?”“Yes.”“When I walk?”“Yes.”“When I sleep?”His expression remained completely serious. “I will remain outside your door.”I stared at him. “This is ridiculous.”The guard said nothing. I turned around and marched toward the staircase. I had barely taken three steps when I heard footsteps behind me. I spun around. “You're following me already?”“I was ordered to.”“Prince Perry is impossible.”The guard's lips twitched. I narrowed my eyes.
Mira’s POVI woke up to loud knocking on my door. I sat up immediately. My heart raced. No one usually came to my room this early. Another knock came.“Lady Mira!”I quickly got out of bed. “Coming.” I opened the door. Three palace guards stood outside. The moment I saw their serious expressions, my stomach tightened. “What happened?”“Come with us.”I frowned. “Why?”The guard in front stepped forward. “You are required to answer questions.”“About what?”He didn't answer. “Please come with us.”I looked from one guard to another. “What have I done?”No one responded. Fear began creeping through me as I stepped out and followed them into the corridor. Several servants stopped what they were doing to watch. Whispers immediately began.“That's her.”“She was caught.”“I knew something was wrong with that girl.”I looked at the guards. “Caught doing what?”Still no answer. They took me to the main hall. When I looked around, I could see a lot of them. Several nobles were there and at t
Mira’s POVThe Blue Ivory Palace felt different that morning. I noticed it the moment I stepped into the main hall. Servants were moving quickly. Guards stood straighter than usual. Several nobles had gathered near the entrance, whispering among themselves.I stopped beside one of the pillars. “What is happening?”The maid beside me lowered her voice. “Princess Bianca is coming.”“Princess Bianca?”“Yes. Alpha Xavier's sister.”My stomach tightened. I had never met Bianca properly. But I knew enough about her family to feel uneasy. She was Xavier's sister. That alone was enough. But before I could ask anything else, the palace doors opened.A group of guards entered first. Then a young woman stepped inside. She had long red curls, striking red-brown eyes, and a confident expression. Her dress was elegant and expensive. She carried a beautifully wrapped box.The servants immediately bowed. “Princess Bianca.”She smiled graciously. “I've come to deliver a coronation gift to Prince Perry
Kieran’s POVThe gates of the Blue Ivory Palace opened before my carriage. I looked through the window at the familiar palace towers. I had been away for too long. Too long to even remember. And yes, I missed Blue Ivory Palace. It's my home. The place where I grew up. The place where my memories wouldn't stop mentioning. Blue Ivory Palace wasn't just a place where I grew up, it was my soul.I stepped down from the carriage as the guards bowed. “Welcome home, Lady Kieran.”I nodded. “Thank you.”I had barely taken three steps when one of the palace servants hurried toward me. “Lady Kieran, His Highness knows you're here.”My heart lifted. “Where is Prince Perry?”“In the western hall.”I smiled. Of course he was. Prince Perry had always preferred quiet places as much as I could remember. A very good friend of mine who happened to be the reason I had left in the first place but I wasn't back for that. I heard the news. A new lady was around and not only was she new, she could tame Princ
