I wished for the ground to open and swallow me up with the way Xander stared murderously at us.

I pushed Nathan away from me and bowed my head in shame.

Why now?

Why does he have to appear now?

My heartbeat accelerated and I felt it would burst out of my chest as Xander’s eerie footsteps approached my direction.

I couldn’t see his face, but only the sight of his feet sent shivers gushing down my spine. I gripped the hemline of the bathrobe and clenched my teeth, biting my lips to stop me from crying out before his punishments started.

I looked at his feet again, it was just an inch away from me, and, oh gracious goddess, I wondered if I would survive the heat of his anger wheezing toward me.

I shut my eyes and bit my lips harder, my chest constricting in panic and almost knocking out breath from my body.

My ears itched when I heard a loud crash beside me, my eyes snapped open in curiosity when a groan followed.
