Jenna woke up rubbing her eyes as she realized she was in an unfamiliar surrounding. Panicking, she got up from the bed with confusion.

She groaned as she felt pains between her legs. Pains that reminded her about last night. Her eyes widened in shock as she recalled what she had just done but she wasn't regretting her action this time.

It was painful but she enjoyed every bit of it and she was willing to take that pain rather than to be at the mercy of her supposed fiance.

She got off the bed, knowing she had to get back to her room before her family would start searching for her.

“Ouch!” she mumbled, holding the bed as she felt much pain. Walking towards the door she stopped, remembering her family should not know about this, she panicked in fear as she thought of how to make sure this stranger did not look for her.

She rushed over to the bedside table as her eyes fell on a jotter and pen. She picked it up to drop a note for the strange man but was confused about what to write.

Finally, she came up with something…. “Thank you so much for last night and please do not look for me, this never happened.”

She dropped the note, took a deep breath, and moved carefully so as not to be seen by anyone. She hurried over immediately and when she got to her room, Kaya was already waiting for her.

“Where the hell have you been all night?” She asked in a worried voice.

“I ended up in someone else’s room,” Jenna replied, explaining in detail but was cut short by the buzzing sound of her phone.

“You should answer your father’s call already, everyone has been calling you ever since Damien told them he wasn’t going ahead with this marriage.” Kaya sneered.

“I will meet them at home,” Jenna replied, quickly changing into a white shirt and blue pants.

Picking up her stuff she hurried over immediately after she was dressed and when she got home she tried to sneak in but her father, stepmother, and step-sister were already waiting for her in front of the main building.

She tried to walk past them but was held back by her father who looked furious.

“You do not walk past me!” He snarled in rage. “You should explain this madness,” he added.

“I do not have an explanation to give. Damien called off the marriage and not me, why do I have to explain his infidelity?”

“And where the hell were you last night?” Her dad shot back at her.

“Dad, did you ask him why he didn’t show up for my dress fitting?” I went to his room and found him having an affair, he said the wedding was off and I left for my room. What was I supposed to do?” Jenna responded, staring daggers at her stepsister, Coty.

“You should have spoken to me first before he made the damn announcement!”

“Dad, he doesn’t want me okay, you should be happy he likes your precious daughter, Coty. So let him have her!”

“You do not make the decisions, young lady. This alliance means so much to my pack and my company. Nobody, not even your step-sister will ruin this treaty.” Do you understand me? He snarled in rage causing her to frighten in fear.

Confused, she stared at her family. “Did you already know about Damien and Coty being in a relationship?” she asked, searching their eyes one after another.

None of them said a word, confirming her fears as she felt betrayal wash over her.

“Everyone knew except me?” Jenna questioned as tears formed in her eyes.

“That is not important. What is important is that you are going to get married to him and fix this mess!” her father sneered.

Jenna broke down in tears, kneeling before her father. “Please, father. Do not give me away to someone who doesn't love me. I'll work harder to make sure the company doesn't go bankrupt. I will do everything you tell me, I will marry someone else. Just… just not Damien!”

“You don't understand, Jenna! Our pack will be in danger, I will lose my status and the company will crumble! Her father scowled. “Do you want your family to suffer? Me? Your stepmother and stepsister?”

“I will not end up with a man who hates me and is having an affair with my sister, she sniffed as she stood up to walk out.”

“Come back here, Jenna! Don't you dare walk out on me, she heard her father's voice which was more like a threat. “I order you! Stay put! Heed your Alpha!”

Her body instantly recognized her father's alpha command and her knees gave up, weakening with every step.

“No! Please!” Jenna begged. Tears welled in her eyes, admitting she was just her father's pawn.

“You will marry Damien no matter what it takes even if you have to live with your sister, I do not care! And that is final.” I have concluded with his father and your marriage is rescheduled in three weeks, do not try anything funny!” He added and walked out of the room.

Tears filled her eyes as she stared at Coty and her stepmom, Chloe with disgust but they had no remorse on their faces. She had done everything till this day to please her family but they chose to treat her like a slave, what hurt her the most was her father did not understand her but was only after his achievements and he wasn't going to let Coty marry Damien first because Coty wasn't his blood even though he loved her most, she was still a child her stepmother, Chloe had with her ex-mate before getting married to him.

One last look at Coty she picked up her bags and walked to her room as she curled up in her bed letting out her tears before she fell asleep.

THREE WEEKS LATER

All the days that led to her wedding day were hell for Jenna as she was restricted from leaving the house by her family.

Jenna recalled that night as every single moment kept replaying in her mind and she couldn't get them out of her head. She didn't know who that man was but her heart subconsciously treasured that night as it was the only nice, recent memory she had.

Her stepsister, Coty had gotten even more bitter recently and she made things more complicated for her.

“You seem to be happy on your wedding day, huh?” she heard Coty snort behind her jolting her back to reality and causing her to turn immediately.

“Is there a reason not to be?” Jenna fired back, staring at Coty’s cruel face. She could barely believe she was the person who played and laughed with her while growing up.

“You shouldn't be too happy yet, everything you own will be mine soon,” Coty snarled in rage. “Mom will soon be here,” she added with a smirk.

Jenna tried saying something but felt dizzy just like she had been feeling quite a few times lately. She tried to ignore it as she always did but this time around the dizziness refused to be ignored.

She could see the world in circles and it wasn't long before her vision dimmed and the last thing she recalled was Coty’s evil smirk.

*

A few hours later she woke up to the smell of chemicals and on a hospital bed.

“Who is the father!?” Jenna heard Coty shout as soon as the door was pushed open.

She raised her brow not sure what she meant by her words.

“Father of who?” she replied with a question as Coty rushed over to her and wrapped her hand around her neck.

“Don’t play with me, Jenna. Don’t even think that I won’t let everyone know about this! She growled, drawing out her fangs.

“Wh… what do you mean?” Jenna stuttered gasping for air.

“Did you seduce Damien to get you pregnant, you bastard!?” Did you go back to him that night he rejected you? Is he the father of that bastard inside of you!?” She yelled at Jenna whose eyes widened in shock.

How could…. How could I be pregnant!? It was just one time and I don’t even know him. Jenna’s body froze as different thoughts ran through her mind.

“I… I am pregnant?”

“You tell me, who the f*ck is the father!? Coty groaned, sending a slap across her face.

Tears ran down her eyes as she thought of the humiliation this would cause her if her father and every other person found out.

“I am going to make sure that bastard inside of you dies!” Coty yelled, jolting her from her thoughts. She was about to hit her again when they heard fast-approaching footsteps.

Coty paused, her brows arching but Jenna was not worried about whoever that was. She was only worried about the pup inside of her.

What am I supposed to do? It was just a one-night stand, how would I have a pup!?

The door of the ward suddenly opened and a servant ran in hastily.

“What’s wrong?” Coty asked hurriedly.

“The guests have arrived!”

Jenna placed her hands on her hips, staring up at the towering wall before her. At that moment, she envied every creature gifted with the ability to fly. Her gaze drifted to the side, and she sprinted a few meters behind a wide house, seeking cover as she prepared her escape. The rain continued to pour down relentlessly, soaking her to the bone. It did nothing to help her situation, but she had no control over that. She rolled her shoulders, pushed up the sleeves of her soaked gray dress, and stood before the tall wooden fence with steely determination. It was probably twice her height. Still, with the right skill, she believed she could scale it.Then reality hit.She wasn’t skilled. She was the opposite—utterly lazy.Regardless, Jenna planted her hands against the slick, brown wood and dug her nails in, trying to pull herself up. A sharp sting shot through her finger as a splinter buried itself in her skin. She cursed under her breath and considered shifting to tear through the damn

Two days. That’s how long it had been since he defended her.And still, Jenna felt like she was suffocating.Kaelion hadn’t touched her, hadn’t demanded anything, and hadn’t raised his voice once. He simply existed, watching with those quiet, stormy eyes, as if he was waiting for her to either break… or heal.He was polite, cautious. Respectful in a way that made her more unsettled than if he had demanded her obedience. And Maren…That girl was a storm wrapped in sunshine. A whirlwind of kindness and chatter. Jenna should’ve hated her. But Maren made it hard. The way she hummed while braiding Jenna’s hair, the way she dropped extra honey in her tea without asking. The way she looked at her like… she wasn’t broken. But that didn’t mean Jenna could stay.Kindness was a trick. She’d learned that lesson one too many times. It always came with strings.Sometimes she tried to trust that they were better peopleBut at night… the old ghosts returned. She couldn’t sleep without seeing her old

The next morning was unusually quiet.Jenna stood by the wide arched window of her chambers, the sky painted in soft hues of pale gold and misty blue. The courtyard below bustled faintly with movement—servants sweeping, warriors training but none of it touched her. She stood there, arms wrapped around herself, feeling like an ornament trapped in someone else’s glass castle.A soft knock pulled her from her thoughts. She turned just as the door creaked open and a bright-eyed girl with russet curls popped her head in with cheeks flushed pink and eyes so wide with excitement it made Jenna blink.“Um—hello?” the girl chirped. “Are you… Jenna? I mean—Luna Jenna?”Jenna blinked. “Yes but not your Luna”The girl beamed and stepped in, holding a folded apron in her hands. The girl curtsied with a little flourish. “My name’s Maren. His Majesty assigned me as your personal maid if that’s alright with you, of course.” She paused, her amber eyes hopeful. “I know I’m a bit… young-looking. But I pr

The silence was the loudest thing in the room.Ryker stood in Jenna’s old quarters, untouched since she vanished. The same gray blanket she used to curl under still rested at the foot of the bed. Her scent lingered on the pillow, faded but not gone. That soft blend of crushed lilacs and wolf pine that used to ground him.Now it haunted him.He stared at the space on the bed and tried to remember the last thing she said to him. Something cold. Something distant. He deserved that.He deserved worse.Outside, the Villa was restless. Whispers ran like wildfire: The Luna’s gone. Ryker lost his mate. The Lycan Alpha took her. They didn’t say it to his face, of course. But he felt their doubt like needles under his skin. He’d lost her.Again.Exhausted, Ryker sat slouched on the high-backed chair at the far end. His knuckles were bloodied—fresh from punching the stone wall of his chambers just minutes before. The taste of defeat still coated his tongue like ash.She was gone.Jenna.And not

The storm outside was unrelenting. Rain thrashed against the high-arched windows casting shadows that danced violently across the towering bookshelves of the Alpha King’s private study.Kaelion Vexmoor stood alone, one hand braced against the edge of his massive desk, his broad shoulders rising and falling with every shallow breath. His chest ached. Not from injury. But from the curse. He could feel it again—writhing beneath his skin like molten fire, twisting into his lungs and curling fingers around his heart. Every time he thought it had calmed, it surged back, fiercer than before. The pain came in waves now.Stronger.Faster.Like time was counting down.He didn’t flinch. He didn’t cry out. But the tremor in his jaw betrayed him, as did the way he squeezed his eyes shut to trap the growl in his throat. Then came the voice, low, calm, irritatingly timely.“You’re burning again, aren’t you?”Dorian. His Beta. Always watching. Always ten steps behind and yet never out of reach.Kaeli

Jenna lay still for a long while after Kaelion left, the silence in the room thick as fog. Her heart still hadn’t settled from his words.“For every tear they made you shed, I will make them beg.”She should’ve felt fear. Or revulsion. But instead, something darker curled in her chest. Hope. Dangerous, bloody hope. She buried her face in the sheets to drown it.The knock at the door jolted her. Before she could say anything, it opened.A woman entered — tall, stern, elegant, her posture straight as a blade. Behind her, three younger women followed, each carrying folded garments, steaming cloths, and wooden bowls filled with scented water. Maids. The older woman’s eyes scanned Jenna from head to toe. Not cruel. Not soft either. Just… assessing.“I’m called Myra,” she said, her voice brisk. “I am the head of His Majesty’s house staff. These girls are here to assist me in preparing you for the day.”Jenna sat up slowly, pulling the covers closer to her chest. “I don’t need help.”Myra’s
